No... There are a number of things you can do when you can control more characters. For example self rushing. Or increased experience gain.
Just the fact that you are paying money (Real Money!) for advantages.
They didn't accept my counterfeit money either..
Seriously, of course you can do funky things with multiple accounts, and you'll have to either buy or loan more CD-keys.
You get advantages by paying more money for a faster internet, you get advantages by paying more money for a better computer (not so much in the case of D2), you get advantages by buying an engine-generator so you won't be affected by blackouts... list just goes on.
That can be done in like 20 seconds with the correct program.
change windows profile - takes like 2 seconds
start game - already up and running
log - already logged in
join game - takes 2-4 seconds
And you can easily get around the 4 connection limit with proxy servers.
In 20ish seconds I've killed Hell Diablo in a Baal game anyways. And you need to do that 4 times each time you start a new game. And using a program to do it for you is no longer legit.

False. You get more drops the more people that are in the game. That is why the best way to MF is to go solo in a public game.
You have more chance of drops, not more drops. Only thing that matters in the long run is drops per unit of time. By doing faster runs by not bothering with logging extra copies you have less chance of drops, but more drops per time.
You get advantage by having many copies, the advantages aren't quite drastic in anything else than the ability to make a classic sorceress, rush 3 level 1s to hell in 20ish minutes, and get 3x Hellforge drops for yourself. And that is quite a boring thing to keep repeating.
Using a program to switch windows user is completely legit as far as I know. It has nothing to do with the game at all. Copy/pasting a game name is also legit ^^.
This is going nowhere, but as I said, it slows you down if you have to log additional characters into a game, and thus it takes longer to kill a boss, while more items will drop, it does not necessarily mean more items per unit of time.
Also you need to add additional time for the character to leave first game, then enter second.
It merely reduces the chance of the "no drop" result of a drop roll, and players that aren't in your party and in the same area count only as half a player and it is always rounded down.
So with 4 players in the game, it's the same as you'd play with one friend in your party (1+ 3x 0,5 = 2,5 -> rounded to 2). I can't give you the exact number because it has so many variables between mobs, areas, and MF, but It's roughly equivalent to 10% more drops for the effort of putting 3 (or rather 2) mules in the game.
I agree with Don on this one. It's just not worth the effort to load all your mules into private games over and over and over. You can join random pub games that already have people in them, its a lot more efficient then joining with alternate accounts.
I run vista on a 5 year old computer right now, so as you could imagine its not exactly the fastest thing around to switch user accounts to move mules around. I could run chaos under 5 minutes a run consistently, not being anal about killing everything, just smashing big groups, uniques, and diablo. In the time it takes me to run in pubs vs run private with my alt accounts, I can run chaos 3 times for every 2 private. Its just not worth it.
