On the main announcement thread I mentioned I had a problem installing the patch. Dauroth was having the same problem.
I was getting an error message that said:
Blizzard BNUpdate v2.72 compiled on Oct 16 2003
Log created at 7:02 pm on 12/11/2009
ERROR: unable to open archive 'D2XP_IX86_112a_113a.mpq'
RESULT: Patch failed
Issue Resolved (for Vista)!!
It is a permissions problem.
On Windows Vista:
1. You need to navigate to the D2LoD program folder and right click on it, go to Properties
2. Go to Security Tab, Scroll down to Trusted installer and select
3. Then click, allow full control.
4 If this doesn't work, then select all user names or groups and then allow full control for all.
Then go back and retry the download. Worked for me on the first time when I selected all user names. Good Luck!
Ok, I checked the same settings on XP and they are similar. The only real difference is that the "Trusted Installer" option is not there. So I would just go through all of the accounts, starting with the one you are currently using, and change them to [full control] for the DiabloII folder in the program files folder.

There are probably other ways to make it work... I'd say google is your best option here.
That is strange. Not sure how to fix that, sorry Dauroth
