Well I hope this won't be spamming but I have looked around on battle.net, tried to post there (can't without a character etc) and I am kind of stumped. I got a new mac over the weekend, did some setup and updates, then went to try D3 starter on it. Got the download for the client, new battle.net account (been years since I did wow and just did a new account), then I get the client logged in and I notice it is the beta client, well tried to download D3 and it downloads that first 50 some odd megs and then goes to install and sits there waiting on another installation, googled and seen this issue is common. It was late, next day ran the battle.net again, strangely it did that first install and started the main download, figured it was blizzards server. Let the mac go and download come back hour or so later, should be at least half way (50 mb connection), it has crashed with an error. I forgot the mac shortcuts and didn't get a screenshot, stupid I know, but it errored out and crashed during download (client not mac). So I killed the client, tried again, it just hangs. Try to kill client, have to force quit, so now it is corrupted. I removed client and temp folders and tried it on the aging pc the mac is replacing, of course it downloads it all just fine but pc to old to play on.
Two questions, why is the client download beta, and can I get around the beta client with a stable one and get this starter downloaded? I just want to download the starter and see its performance on the new mac mini 2012, not a super powered mac, but good for our needs and researching online can play D3 ok. Any suggestions?
