I have played a lot of mmorpgs, which led me to get a Razer Naga a couple years ago. Pretty handy to bind a dozen of skills/actions on your mouse when nowaday's mmorpgs are requiering the use of so many different skills/actions.
Diablo 3 is a whole different story though. A LOT more clicking, and probably moving the mouse arround too, while actually using a lot less different skills.
I find my Naga to be a bit too massive/heavy to be really comfortable with when playing Diablo, therefore looking for a new mouse that would be smaller and lighter, with still at least a couple extra buttons (preferably on the side). And it has to be rock solid quality, that goes without saying when going to click millions times
Some kind of mouse you guys can think of? Also thoughts regarding a keyboard choice? like something with ultra flat keys perhaps?
Not quite sure this belongs in General Discussion but i'm not sure it should go to "technical support" either so sorry in advance if this thread belongs elsewhere
Never tried a mechanical keyboard but i've been curious about it. Does it REALLY make a difference or is it mostly marketing?
If you're talking about if it will make you play better; probably not. But the difference is more than tangible. Typing on a mechanical keyboard is much much more comfortable than on rubber dome. And quicker. If you type a lot or use the keyboard a lot, do yourself a favor and get one. Good mechanical keyboards you can get from Rosewill, Ducky and Leopold. Maybe Das or Filco if you feel like blowing money for no particular reason. Steelseries 6Gv2 is also pretty good for the money.
edit: regarding the different switches: If you think of it like that: typing (blue) - hybrid (brown) - gaming (black) it should make the most sense. It's best if you go to a store and try them out or order different switches and see which ones you prefer the most.
I do actually type a lot. I need to find a shop in my area where I could try out some mechanical keyboards. Hopefully they're not THAT noisy, that would seriously annoy me.
Any thoughts regarding the official D3 mouse? marketing mostly, right?
Honestly Razer is shit man. I've had 3 razer products and they all died without like 3 months or so and I wasn't a fan of the overall quality either. Also razer black widow keyboard w/ blue mx switches is terrible for gaming IMO and I've tried a bunch of different switches but enough keyboard talk. For a mouse, you can't go wrong with a Lgitech mx518 or the new version, the G400. The click feel is fantastic and quick...and the weight is just right.
If you plan to buy online, I would highly suggest to visit a local computer store first where you can "feel" and actually test it (wrapping your hand on it and shit). A mouse is a very personal thing and it needs to fit very well in your hand. I would never get a "bulky" mouse like the Naga for D3.
Get the naga for d3, All your spells/menus/hotkeys what have you all right on the left side of your mouse. Its amazing for d3. Looovee it
Yes, but the mouse is a bit too heavy and massive for my taste when it comes to sooo much clicking and moving the mouse arround
I honestly havnt had any issue with its size, BUT then again, I guess our hands sizes come into play =P
The naga elite has the changeable plates, you can make it even smaller than the normal naga, Im just not a fan of the elites mouse button 4 and 5 placement.
Its just those hotkeys on the side make it the sexiest thing ive ever used =P

If you want to avoid noise, get brown or black switches. In other words dont get the razer blackwidow (which has blue switches). Steelseries keyboard is blackswitches but no backlight. Blue are okay only if you live alone, if you have a gf forget it most probably.
I find blue also really weird for gaming but that is a personal taste i guess. Mechanicals will always be louder than rubber dome though !
If you want black switches AND backlighting price will be in the 100-150$, it will also limit your choice to a handful of keyboard.
As for the feeling of a mechanical keyboard. You won't notice a difference in gaming in Diablo 3. Diablo 3 doesn't rely on the keyboard enough to make a difference at all. Mechanical are good in games relying heavealy on a lot of precise key pressing at high speed. Games like starcraft 2, a mechanical is highly recommended for someone in the 100+ apm region. Of course, typing requiring a lot of keystroke is also more comfortable imo.
For a mouse, get a high quality laser or optical mouse and get good surface for the mouse, either your desk is top quality no default and clean or you should get a pad. I have a preference for aluminium surfaces like the SX from steelseries but plastic is fine, whatever you take get something of quality... avoid shitty cloth pad at all cost.
I know a lot less about mouse but all I can say is that my laser ikari from steelseries is good with a righthand design.
If you are looking for a mouse to play Diablo III check this one out. http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.244052300
I use to use a standard Logitech one. Razer Naga Hex: this is the best mouse out there, especially for Diablo III. It has six buttons on the left side easy accessible by your thumb. I bought it a few months ago, my first real gaming mouse. Took me a little bit getting use to the extra buttons but they are nicely spaced out. I played the Diablo III beta for a month or so now and I can play without touching my keyboard. Its also great because it doesnt have too many buttons like some other mice which have 12-18 buttons on them. Check it out its great!!!!
I use to use a standard Logitech one. Also about the Diablo III mouse, yeah that's such a poorly mad mouse. Here is why- It feels really cheap, much more than my 10 dollar Logitech mouse. The amazing buttons it has on each side are too close to each other were if you are spamming abilities you will most likely addicently click a button you do not intend to click. Anyways thats what I got out of it using it for about 10 minutes and realized it was garbage. Its 70 bucks just because it says Diablo III on it >.>
Razer is notorious for making overpriced things that break down within the first year of using them (I'm talking out of experience). The Deathadder is probably the only good thing they've ever made.
I just said I've used 3 mice over 12 years of heavy gaming. I wouldn't say they're notorious for any such allegations other than supporting the gaming community with top notch mice.
Ive used Diamondback, Deathadder and Imperator. Happy with all purchases.
I personally have a Razer Deathadder, which I do like, but if i were to buy again I'd get a Steelseries Xai, Sensei (If you're a big spenda), or probably the most fitting choice, their tailor-made Diablo 3 mouse, complete with Diablo design and sweet ass lighting. Razer's customer service is garbage. I will commend you if you can visit their site, and actually speak to a rep, or even have an e-mail responded to.
Also even though I don't own one, I have heard a lot of good things from the Naos 5000 from Mionix. Maybe somebody here as experience with it. It has very strong specs according to its website and customizable color looks pretty cool
Like my ikari it also has a right hand design which imo is important (for a right handed person).
Whats wrong with people flaming razer Gear i personaly have two razer mouses and they work both perfectly.
A lot of people get issues with double clicking instead of single clicking on Razer mice (at least Naga and Deathadder). My assumption is it has something to do with how and where you apply pressure when clicking. If you want a small Razer mouse I can suggest the Razer Orochi.
Regarding Keyboards: I've had the G15 for 6.5 years now. It has never given me problems. However, I don't really like its design and a lot of features are overkill (I don't use the macro-keys -- too inconvenient). The LCD-Screen is useful, but 99% of the time I just have the time/date showing. Additionally, it does feel a little cheap and bulky. That's why I ordered myself the Corsair Vengeance K90 (hasn't arrived yet).

Man, just spent some time reading a few reviews on the K90, looks like i'm about to be sold!
Just one question though, loving the thing to rest your wrist on the K60 (not sure what the english word for it is), do you know if it is also part of the K90 package?

My Naga's fine tbh, but it doesn't work out so well with a game like D3 imo

Gonna take some notes and try to check out a few of the listed goodies by D3 release!

Razer Imperater Mouse
Steelseries 6G V|2 Mechanical keyboard
Never buy any other product from steelseries, everything else is quite cheap and break easily.
Razer has always been an extremely reliable mouse company, I've owned 3 Razer mice over 12 years. (heavy use)

I don't really need it though, got a fully working Razer Deathadder that I can truly recommend as well!
Also even though I don't own one, I have heard a lot of good things from the Naos 5000 from Mionix. Maybe somebody here as experience with it. It has very strong specs according to its website and customizable color looks pretty cool

If my ikari breaks or I get tired of it (it starts to look weary) I'd probably test it myself. It's quite expensive though.
You can also find the test for the D3 mouse here (and the headset) :
