I have been discussing with some friends how ridiculous it is that Blizzard have taken 4 years (if not longer) to make this game.
Yeah, yeah, I get that they are trying to make it really good/perfect but there needs to be some more equality in the 'release time' vs 'making the game'!
In the gaming industry so much can change in 4 years (look at the quality of minecraft), this argument opens up a lot further discussion such as, will the game engine still be quality following future expansion/s, given that it will be 6-8 (even 10-12 years old at the current rate)?
These guys owe it to their fans; the ones that have followed and supported the Diablo series and other Blizzard products.
Any ways just putting in my two cents worth, and I am seriously considering not purchasing it to send Blizzard a message.
I can see this ending up like Kony 2012, the ICC and half of the Western World will be after them for crimes against humanity!
I started getting anxious for a release about december of 2011. Going into last summer we were suppossed to get the game at the end of the year. We all know of the delay to early 2012 and now we are being told Q2. I also have considered not buyying the game (never got more than 10% serious about it), but I can only get so angry at them for working so hard to release a great product. From the beta participants 90%+ seem to think the game is fantastic which is the best news a non beta player can hear(besides getting a "your invited to the beta" *tear*). The wait has only greatly increased the expectations. Diablo 2 was the best game I have ever played, and while superior games have come out since D2 was very ahead of its time in terms of gameplay, online society/economy, and infinite awesomeness/replay-ability. If Diablo 3 is not the greatest game of all time I will be quite disapointed, but I believe it will exceeds my expectations. Balls in your court development team.
If they can afford to lay off 600 employees no probs they must have a really large workforce. How can it possiably take a company of that size, with so many individudals who are at the top of their profession so long to release a game.
