I have decided to focus on wizard, barb and demon hunter. I will still play monk and witch doctor but they will not be my focus
I had the most fun in beta with the barb, the wiz, and the DH. After my characters got wiped, I found monk a little less fun the second time around. I had to literally force myself to get to 13 again with WD. To be clear, I am not hating on monk or WD classes. They are working as intended and many people will love their play styles. I actually think the monk class could be really fun once there is a little more variety in the skills later on in the higher levels.
A) Wizard vs Witch Doctor. I'm going to set forth with a wizard first and as my main. The variety of spells and the varying options at the skills seems like no two wizards will be alike. I will dump all my intel gear into this class. For this reason alone, I know my WD will never be as good as my wizards potential. Instead of running around with a half gimped character, my good/great/legendary WD class loot will be given out to friends, Red Panda's group, or placed on an AH for profit. Yes eventually, I plan to get a WD to 60 and probably beat inferno, but that is way down the line I think. I would mainly be doing for an achievement because yes, I am an achievement hunter.
B is for Barbarian. The barb was the biggest surprise for me in beta. The barb is so fun to play. The raw power of how hard he hits is fun, the fun in finding movement possiblities with leap, the way he keeps getting stronger throughout a fight (rage,) and the survivability he has was so fun. I felt like Donkey Kong in beta running around jumping on barrells. He has no str competion and that is good, because if there was competition, they would lose out to the barb.
C) Demon Hunter vs Monk. My char in D2 was a bowazon. It maybe for somewhat nostalgia purposes, but I really found the DH as a very efficient character. High DPS, great survivability with skills used properly. I could see the DH's becoming cookie cutterish really fast though. They have certain skills that almost seem like a must have. This could change somewhat in later levels because we all know, lots can change once we are finally playing. I thought the Monk was a little bland in beta compared to my favorite 3 classes. I do see his potential however. I will focus my dex gear on my DH but my Monk might get some hand-me-downs along the way. I will try to supply people playing Monk right now with the class items but if I get something really good, I may just want to loan it to them Months down the road, I could see myself playing the Monk and having more fun with it than the DH. But for now, I will focus on DH.
I find it good to have a strategy instead of trying to bring up 2 classes competing over the same gear. I know we can swap gear back and forth between chars and some of that may happen, but I don't want to do this everytime I start a new game. Or say, I want to play my monk, log into game with 3 friends, "Shit, guys brb, my DH is wearing all my DEX gear." This will happen, and happen a lot I suspect.
As for gear in general anything under endgame items will be give out or sold if no one wants as my friends/group level. I'm not gonna save some level 30 legenday 1 hand crossbow for my DH if I am grouping with a DH in my circle of friends or in Red Panda's group that could use it right now. That Item could help us beat the next boss. I'm looking to get to 60, I'm not worried about mid level items.

That's an excellent point. Most of my friends I'll be playing with are going to be casual enough that I'll blow past them level-wise. It'll be quite enjoyable to give them a fantastic item for their main and see them actually use it. This sentiment used to exist in WoW but it got so easy to upgrade items that sometimes it'd be just like, "thanks...[item discarded two played in-game hours later]".

And since nothing is really BoE, you could have them give the item back once they get better gear if you really liked the item. I doubt a mid level item would be worth that much trouble though.
