I thought this was too interesting to be an add-on to energy twister, though it still is. It would be neat if they could make Arcane Orb where you could put more or less ap into it and the explosion would be bigger or less and or the orb fly faster or slower in addition to the rune effects. Even RoF and Disintegrate would benefit from something like that where you could put more ap into it each cast and it comes out of the wizard looking like a comet but doing more damage (at more ap a second). In the case of RoF you could make it colder and last longer but putting a little more AP into it. Same way with meteor/energy twister etc. If your playing a class known for concentration and mental ability it seems like it would be cool to have the ability to change the amount of ap used and the effect that it has on the spell. It would make the spells even more customizable, keep the rune effects, but add those variables where putting more ap into it raises the cast time or putting less, lowers it, more ap on a frost spell slows longer, or on a fire spell burns longer, or on blizzard, larger area covered etc. etc. or electrocute make it jump a few more times but use more (some) ap for the cost of that. It is like we are playing a class known for being the Einsteins of Sanctuary but all our tools are a bunch of cookie cutters and ya we have runes but we are basically like Forest Gump using a weapon that somebody else made
Basically I could see each spell having a balance: power and speed... you add speed, power goes down, if you add power, speed goes down... (with increase in casting time). With power being damage done and duration of the spell, and speed referring to cast speed and cool down. Add this to all offensive spells especially and things would never be the same and if you died you would never have to go into a battle thinking to yourself... "I wonder what I can change to do better" because the answer would be... a lot.
Maybe this would never happen except on an expansion... but for customization I think it would fit into the "This could be cool category".
