Suggestions for my monk

  • #1
I just got 60 on my monk a couple days ago and was wondering if anyone could take the time to give me some suggestions on my gear and what i need to change and improve on. If you could point out specific pieces of gear that i need to change more than others i would appreciate it. Newer to Diablo so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My budget right now is a max of 700 million. Or if you could let me know if there are specific stats i should look for on certain pieces of gear, or what my stats should be around for MP10. Thank you.

Let me first start with your current skill build. You are using double spi regen skills(with combo strike passive) but you dont have any real spirit spender b/c spamming the mantra. So your only source of dealing damage is fist of thunder and sweeping winds/cyclone. When using the thunderclap rune for fist of thunder there is no real use of dash strike imo since FoT/TC provides a small teleport as well. So i would recommand using a different build.

    Explo Palm: http://us.battle.net...UVfkS!Xg!aZaZac

The 3rd passive could be either OwE(to maintain a decent eHP ny using a 2nd stacking resist), near death exp(if you have trouble to survive), transendence(to have some small lifesustain) or exalted soul(imo the worst of those 4 passives since the benefit is kinda small for a palm build)

    Bell Spec: http://us.battle.net...UedkS!Xg!YZcbac

The 3rd passive could be either OwE(to maintain a decent eHP ny using a 2nd stacking resist), near death exp(if you have trouble to survive), transendence(to have some small lifesustain) or exalted soul(great passiv for bell specs since you are ableto pool full spirit and unlash it for bursting)

Since you switched the rune on fist of thunder to generate more spirit dahing strike is pretty good.

Both builds havin their pros and cons and its mostly a matter of personal preference if you go for palm or bell.

Now lets check your current gear. ;)

You picked up alot of eHP Stats(resist, %life, vit, bonus armor) on slots which should boost your dps which is bad tbh. Atm you simply cant replace the litany ring to gain more dps since your eHP will hurt alot.

Your resist+vit+%life+bonus armor should always be on the middle line of your gear+shoulders+bracers. Gloves, rings and amulet should boosting your dps as much as you can afford it. Ive spend like a total of 100mil on my us monk: http://us.battle.net...1/hero/30692943

As you can see my resists are higher, ive got more hp and my dps is 50% higher incl. double lifesteal for a good amount of lifesustain. On my budget i couldnt afford going for an all res monk. Thats why i picked OwE as a passive. On the other hand ive spend way more gold on my eu monk and got some decent crafts http://eu.battle.net...1/hero/10580467 So i was able to go just for all res on my eu monk. ;)

For 700mil you should be able to build a set capable of farming mp9 and doing mp10. See there is a difference between farming and doing. ;) Its the killtime for elites/champs. With a set well balance in terms of eHP, lifesustain and DPS you simply cant farm mp10 efficently. Maybe some ppl will tell you they farm mp10 for like 250mil but i doubt they realy "farm" things. :)

For farming mp9 i would aim for the following stats:

    At least 42-45k HP
    Approx 550 Resist
    Approx 5k Armor
    Double Lifesteal
170-200k Sheet DPS(with follower but without other buffs)

Going for mp10 is just getting more dps. I would start farming mp10 when reaching ~250k unbuffed.
Words of wisdom: Don't follow the advice of people who won't have to deal with the consequences.
