I just made a DH who's level 46. So far the class is much better than the Wizard in my opinion. I know these questions are answered in other threads, but I wanted to try and consolidate them in to one big one. So I have the following questions for level 60:
1) Which stats are best?
What I mean here is which stats from greatest to last are better?
2) What builds work really well in Inferno?
What I mean here is every game has a cookie cutter build and I know D3 won't be different.
3) What gems are preferred?
What I mean is per item slot. Cloak,Chest,Helm,Weapon etc. (obtainable gems)
4) What weapon combination is best?
What I mean here is 2 hand Crossbow or Bow/Quiver combo.
I understand that item stats are random and not everything can me theorized easily. I'd really like to know how much damage +1% Attack Speed would give versus Dexterity versus Damage of the weapon itself.
I'd also like to know the damage of stacking crit and crit dmg is versus dex or even weapon damage in the end.
I was on Athene's stream and he was speaking how when people figured out how to stack Crit items along with Attack speed, the values would really change in the AH. (PLEASE dont turn this into an Athene thread!)
I'm no expert, but I'm working on Act II Inferno with moderate success. The most important thing is to choose a build that fits your playstyle. Are you okay with shooting super slow? Do you want to be a glass cannon? I believe the consensus is that the most cost effective playstyle is slow shooting glass cannon with sharpshooter. With that build, you'll die quite a bit in inferno, and get frustrated, but at least you should be able to get through most of the content.
For slow shooting glass cannon:
1. Stack as much +crit dmg and dex as possible. This will get you the biggest amount of initial burst damage, usually enough to take out normal mobs in 1-2 shots. There are some who advocate attack speed, which is fine if you can afford to stand and shoot continuously (if you're playing with a tank or have a more tanky build), but for the most part you are moving around. Also, the faster you attack, the more often you'll crit, diminishing the return on sharpshooter.
2. Smokescreen + Lingering fog and Prep + Heal/Backup plan are a must. Most go with elemental arrow + nether since it can hit same enemy multiple times if they are big enough, and hungering arrow + puncturing/devouring for hatred gen. After that, it's up to you, Caltrops + immobilze is good, vault + tumble can get you out of a jam, RoV + stun, mark of death, and bat are common choices. for passives, archery + steady aim+ sharpshooter. some like tactical advantage or hot pursuit for better kitability.
3. flawless square emeralds are standard (for dex and crit dmg on weapon), higher quality really isnt worth it
4. you will want a 2h xbow + quiver to take advantage of archery and slow shooting. quivers can have + elemental arrow dmg and max disc (which is another thing you need to look for on quiver and cloak so you can kite longer)
tl;dr go slow glass cannon. look for +crit dmg, dex, max disc. ss+fog, prep+backup, elemental+nt, rest is up to you
Personally I don't like crit and critdmg builds, they're extremly good in the opener but too unreliable for my taste after that.
Not saying they don't work though! They just don't fit my taste/playstyle.
I go with attack speed and +disc on gear. You will be able to stutter step kite with high attack speed if you practice it.
that can be good too, like I said, whatever fits your playstyle. just make sure your gear fits what you are trying to do (i.e. use a bow instead of xbow if you're not going for crits)
