Network disconnect

  • Returning to d3 after many months hiatus, just in time for new season and necro pack. Being reminded why I stopped playing was a rude awakening. Constant and consistent network disconnects from d3 ONLY, I own all other blizz games and only d3 gives me this kind of problem. Now I have posted before and support has answered with the check network settings, try google DNS, etc etc. I HAVE TRIED AND DONE IT ALL. Really sick of this, making me wish I hadn't bought the necro pack. Please do something blizz support, please tell me something useful. PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO TRY YOUR SUGGESTED STEPS AS I HAVE DONE THEM ALL I NEED SOMETHING MORE THAN THAT
These are my results for winMTR

  • Heyo!

Took a look over the WinMTR results and it does look like the connection starts spiking as soon as it hits Shaw's network. From the test we're seeing a spike of 599 ms on the second hop which is followed by a spike of 1154 ms on the 3rd hop:

One thing I would like to get from you is the model of the modem that you're using as there are a few Shaw provided modems that utilize the Intel Puma 6 chipset that are currently having issues.

As far as connections go, one big thing to keep in mind is that not all connections get routed the same way. There are various things that will affect the routing such as the location of the servers. While this is on the Overwatch forums, there's a bit more info on that here.

With that said, the routing that we're seeing in the WinMTR provided does show spikes in latency over 1000 ms which could definitely cause a disconnect while playing. The second and third hops that were brought up previously are both going to be on the Shaw network.

If you have the option to test on a different network such as a mobile connection, it may help to narrow down the issue based on what happens. This'll route the connection through a different network and so if we don't run into issues we can rule it down further to the default ISP routing.
