what they should do is an rpg around vikings "the lost vikings". People love the new viking genre : "vikings" and "the last kingdom" are 2 awesome tv shows, each showing a different side of the conflict
Interview with a random guy who hasn't had any contact with anything Diablo or Blizzard for fifteen years and has a history of badmouthing D3 as well as designing only monumental failures? I'm sure his random speculation is very meaningful...
That is exactly my point, the success of Diablo and Blizzard without him over the past 15 years show that whatever he added to the team, he certainly wasn't singularly responsible for any of it (hell, he wanted Diablo 1 to be a turn based game originally). So why we should put any stock in a complete outside doing random speculation and saying exactly the same things pretty much anyone can logically conclude is beyond me,
One of the best selling series of all time might get more entries? Stunning revelation!
Everything that changed from D2 to D3 were enormous improvements on the original concept and updating it for an age where game design has gotten a lot further than it was in the 90's. Look at the backlash that received! This is a guy who spent most of the D3 post-release being salty about not making it his way (exactly the same way as D2 but with "MMO" features - incidentally one thing they did do that got a lot of flak because "MAH SINGLE PALYER GAME REQUIRES INTERNETS") and still having it be a huge success, while being completely unaffiliated with the product in every way.
Of course not, he is about as connected to this as anyone who writes on this site.
Just straight up self-aggrandizing.
Again, obvious for anyone to see based on the developments so far.
Hey, if Necromancer and these two other areas close the book on D3 for them to work on D4, I think I'm fine with that.
Though I really see it hard for them to top D3, and everyone (and they already do it) will put it under the PoE scrutiny eye.
If shares anything similar, it'll be hated and called a rip off; if it doesn't live to those standards, it'll be hated and not even touched; pretty much lose lose.
Change the setting and it really won't be Diablo, so you can change the genre... but to what? It was THE dungeon crawler for years.
You sound so freaking salty, almost feels like you have personal issues with the guy.
Yes D3 is a great game, but making it sound like the best game ever made only makes you look like a whinny fanboy. It isn't.
Also you shit all over the mmo aspect when the single most successful thing blizz ever made was a mmo.
The guy never says anything bad about d3 in the video, and tries hard not to speculate on things too much despite Rhykker insisting and you make him sound like god damn Hitler. Give me a break dude.
Diablo III was only WIDELY successful because it was preordered by everyone who played Diablo II, thinking it would be a streamlined masterpiece. They must've done a good job marketing or something, cause I remember the launch of D3 being absolutely catastrophic, Not only that, but Reaper of Souls promised us a lot of good changes; which some were delivered, but the game is just too repetitive and a snoozefest.
Each time i read David Brevik and interview i just shake my head.... This guy is riding on his Diablo legacy to get jobs and interviews like he is the best thing to ever happened in the gaming industry but he never delivered another hit after Diablo 2. His insights are just dull, like saying: "the water is wet".
But i guess content creators need to find stuff to talk about....
Cool interview. By the way, if you are looking for writers, then I want to propose my candidacy. I think I am competent in this matter because I work as an academic writer at https://supremedissertations.com/ and have many years of practice.
