Diablo II 1.14a Update
Diablo 2 recently got an update to solve a few system glitches and provide Mac compatibility! For those who still enjoy the classic D2 experience, either the vanilla version or the modded ones, these are some great news.

This update focuses on system glitches introduced by modern operating systems. In related news, you can finally retire those old Mac PowerPCs. Included with the update is a shiny new installer for OSX.
We’ve also begun working to improve our cheat-detection and hack-prevention capabilities. There’s still work to be done, but we’re making improvements every day.
There is still a large Diablo II community around the world, and we thank you for continuing to play and slay with us. This journey starts by making Diablo II run on modern platforms, but it does not end there. See you in Sanctuary, adventurers.
PTR Server Slam Test
With patch 2.4.1 there are a number of improvements meant to make gameplay smoother in calculation heavy environments. To help test that, developers are asking players to join the PTR and slam their servers with activity until March 13 on a specific period. Feel free to join if you're interested.

Does not end there... D2X2 hype ?
Probably means there is more content to the patch than just compatibility to modern platforms.
If it's a patch as large as D2's later patches or something as large as D3's major patches, that'd be great.
What the game needs is... support for higher resolutions.
I grow up on d2 and i still go back and play it every once in a while. It has been by far my favorite game ive ever played. I highly enjoy the leveling to 99...it was hard...took time... but wasnt necessary to complete builds usually. I have to say if a HD D2 got released with no duping/bots it would be FAR FAR more fun than D3 at least for me and i would be actively playing it for more than a 1-2 weeks which is how long i usually play d3 after a patch before i get bored. Though i do enjoy D3 i really hate rifts... i dont find it nearly as amusing as the old cow/baal/mephisto/pindleskin runs. Now on top of those being the top places i use to farm the games pvp was what held it together...it had a thrill to it, you would look for a game that said pvp and join it. you wouldnt know who you were playing against, what type of builds and it was just a blast to run around just outside of town and kill people and take their ears. I thoroughly enjoy that they have updated it and hope a non duping/botting HD D2 will be in the near future. i would highly enjoy a HD D2 over another d3 expansion.
I remember starting Diablo 2 before the release of Diablo 3 and crashing on me every 5-10 minutes with "unhandled exception" error.....
Hopefully when nostalgia will hit me for an evening i will be able to play it without getting booted out of my game because the software is old as hell <.<
Would love to see diablo 2 on mobile/tablet. I would play the living hell out of that.
Rebuild the game with the Star Craft 2 engine, bring back the battle.net 2.0 lobby, and don't 'reinterpret' the gameplay systems to reflect MMO-style rules and balance that undermines ARPGs.
Hell, just push an official 1080p resolution patch which also addresses the frame rate and cursor lag and I'd be happy. Game runs horrible on modern machines.
This would go a long way towards restoring my faith in Blizzard after they took a dump on the franchise with Diablo 3.
I reloaded D2 for a blast from the past, had a little trouble loading it for some reason but got it sorted out, It is still fun after all this time, the game actually loads much much faster now then it used to and no lag and not one disconnect or error while playing.....good stuff. I am using a quad core gaming machine with Win 10.
Blizzard began hiring late last year for people dedicated to rewriting Diablo 2 in high definition.
nah we need more sexiness of transmogs i want my character to look more hookerish.
If they gave it controller support you wouldn't need to use the touchscreen. That being said I bet there's probably away to get it to work with a controller using some sort keybind/contoller mapping app.
