Fast Gem Leveling Guide
Are you using the Caldesann's Despair recipe to augment your items? If yes, then you might wonder what is the optimal way of upgrading those Gems.
Philosophios latest video shares a handy method and quite a few interesting tips for this end-game activity, provided you have the gear to clear the higher GR levels. Check it out!

Snickerdoodles are damn good cookies
This isn't really a fast leveling guide, more like efficient leveling guide. There is faster ways to do this than grinding GR60's~ so it's really not "fast".
The fastest way is to do the GR level that allows you to get 100% upgrade chance, and not one higher. It's extremely boring but that is the fastest way.
tl/dr: use bane of the powerful for speed runs and stack gold find for vault runs.
well the first idea is good and maybe not that known.
the second idea is garbage, as the time to a) find the gear and switch gear before a vault run takes up so much time and gold, that you can just do 2 cow runs in that time. doing GRs nets you so much gold, that you basically never run empty.
The real problem is grinding T10 nephalem rifts in order to get all those keystones.
If you are constantly empowering rifts you will never make more gold than you spend, additionally if you cannot find a group for high GRs you cannot make much gold... so this is something to make heaps of gold fast without depending on a top tier group.
I mentioned all of this in the video...
That video is 19 minutes purely wasted
What an horrible "guide"
i followed some of his advice from other guides, but i have first heard him today. i swear to god, he could speak saladfingers.
I don't know that powerlevel is actually defined in any dictionary, but this is something I think most people would agree with:
Powerlevel: Minimize the time to level a single factor, irrespective of other factors.
All of the stuff about maximizing your exp per hour doings 50s completely throws out the idea that its powerleveling. And on top of that, it then requires gold farming to support it, which is going to kill your exp per hour.
Maximize your exp per hour by getting your gems leveled up and then getting back to max level exp farming or pushing.
Your time spent leveling includes the time you spent farming gold to fuel the empowerment.
Even if you do it at grift level = gem level + 3, Doing it 1 gem at a time means 3 out of 4 levels of each gem, you overpaid in gold. Gold that has to be farmed, which takes time that could be spent leveling.
The way to do it.
Get 4 level 0 gems.
Set X = 10
Get into the most stupidly fast speed build possible for grift X.
begin loop
Do empowered grift X
Increase the level of each gem by by 1
X = X + 1
repeat loop until your speed build is inefficient for grift level X Then switch to a speed build appropriate for X and continue, or if you don't feel like respecing, do 4 more gems from 0, and don't switch until you have enough gems leveled to enchant all your gear.
By doing it 4 gems at a time, every single level up point costs the absolute minimum empowerment cost. Less time farming.
I think you guys are pretty well missing the point here, the difference in xp/hour from sub 5minute ~60's is only about half that of average 80+ groups
while the difference in xp/hour from gr 11-45 compared to average 80+ groups is at least 6x's as much if not closer to 10x's
the faster you burn through your keys the sooner you have to farm more torment, again getting horrible xp/hour
starting at gr 11-14 is an absolute waste of time and keys, I don't know anyone in any top clans or communities that actually run GRs lower than about 55-60 ever.
the goblin vault runs are something you do in down time when you don't have a group for GRs.
the gem leveling up to ~60 is something you do when you cannot find a high GR xp group.
you would never interrupt a high level xp farming group to go farm gold or level up low level gems, but you do this in the down time to have extra gold to empower more rifts and have a pile of 60+ gems to then level up to 80+ when you do have the high level group.
all of this is thoroughly explained in the video...
I even mention that you can start as low as you like and the 100% chance to upgrade is +10 levels...
Farming a gold set, then farming gold just to spam higher GR seems counter-intuitive for powerleveling gems. The time saved rushing lower GR's and quickly getting back to what you were doing seems like the more logical way to go.
This may be a good general efficiency strategy, but is definitely not a gem powerleveling strategy.
it's been said already, but this is the fastest way to do it without completely squandering your keys and time, you are making a semantical argument against the use of a single word which is completely irrelevant. nit pick much?
if you want to waste your time and keys go ahead and do it the 'seemingly more logical way' but if you care about being efficient while you play the game you wouldn't do that.
there is a reason no top players do what you all suggest and we all do it the way my guide explains, it's not like all the top players are using my guide, but rather the guide is on the strategy used by all top players.
