D3 is great imo, the problem is it just doesnt last long.

Seasons killed this game for me. Enhancing community and multiplayer, adding more events and contents, more tuning to allow multiple viable high end build... Naaaaah that's too challenging, just add an autodelete time based feature and let's call that "seasons"

path of exile have not many items but game is fun to play and they bring big patches every month and bring new skills etc uniques bla bla
in diablo ? 6 months for a 30mb patch gg
simple diablo 3 was over after release there NO DEV TEAM yet to fix entire game

No matter how hard you try you really can't compare these two games. The only similarity they truly have are them being in the same genre of game as action RPGs. From there they're so different that comparing them one to one just doesn't work for multiple reasons.

I'm not saying Blizzard couldn't learn something from looking at PoE, in fact I'm sure they've already done that. But you shouldn't be expecting the same type of development from these two games solely because of their pay models and overall game focus.

To add, people also really shouldn't look at Diablo 2 as an example of game longevity because things were different 15 years ago. Diablo 2 had little to no competition, while Diablo 3 has so much competition in it's genre alone that expecting it to have similar longevity in terms of player time commitment is ridiculous. The majority of gamers won't stick to one game for months at a time like they did 15 years ago and expecting a game to deliver content to allow players to do that is asking a bit much in the current gaming market that's flooded with good games to play. Diablo 3 can't meet expectations that people have based upon Diablo 2 - no game ever could now.

I love D3 but I am ready to quit for a number of reason. First let me say that I have floated these ideas before and the community told me the ideas are good but that they were not possible from a game spec stand point along with other gibberish I didn't quite understand. I say nay! Blizzard can do anything so long as they have the drive to do so.

Adding more adventure, exploration, mystery and lore, would do a field of help.

After Story mode Adventure turns into "I need better gear" and it because the only concern.

Exploration is nonexistent you will never need to fill out a map EVER.

Mystery...well there is none sorry

Lore I love all the lore in game already but expanding it would go a long way.



Working on tackling these problems I will break down into Maps, Builds, Characterization, I will slightly touch on Gear throughout this process as well.



Maps: We all know the maps and they were good for a while. Blizzard then added in rifts and gr's which helped the monotony. Lets face it though there is nothing too random about them and one will never need to fill them out. In my opinion to help this add in a rare chance to find character specific area. In example take the Barbarian (the only character with a jump) add in a raise platform on a random map that only the barb can access which could lead to an Ancient's testing ground (lore and mystery!) like a solo bounty or if every one is barb in party all players could do the challenge (maybe your game rolls a specific challenge in which party needs at least two barbs) which upon completion could lead to a treasury or open one for the party or an additional extension of map. you can apply this to all characters. Also I would make a separate play style like story mode and adventure mode called challenge mode in which the environment can affect you. In example the battlefields, its cold, the snow is blowing, lets say that you're lvl 70 and your cold resistance is 800 maybe your movement speed is hindered 5% 700Resit cold Attack speed and movement speed hindered 5% due to cold idk have fun with it tho and keep in mind some players wont want this. So keep it as a separate mode for players LOOKING for more of a challenge. Bare minimum maps need to be more dynamic. More changing parts, keep us on our toes. I shouldn't know where to go every single time, make me look for the end.



Builds are short the dev's have worked hard on them and still will but really every single possible combination of skills needs to be viable for t6 so every one can enjoy the game to fullest no matter the build. That doesn't mean attaining the gear will be easy or fast but builds are how player like to play and they shouldn't be kept back.



Characterization: I already touched it a little bit with the barb up top but lets take the Demon hunter for an example now. Their background says they are a clan of people dedicated to hunting demons shouldn't there be big game hunting for demon hunters and secret caches or DH loot left behind from other DH's that only a DH would notice and be able to access. Like there should be special little nik naks to make you feel special your playing as the character you chose.



One more thing it would be a lot of fun if there were a lot more boss's in game farming worthy boss's.



I know this was long but ty for reading.

I took a break from Diablo 3 for 2 reasons:



1) My friends gave me a FF14 account... they needed a Bard that bad;

2) The game got boring for me.



I can't bring myself to push for higher GR floors since it's based mostly on luck or to grab a perfect Marauder piece (or something else). I'm not that naive to think that every build is possible and efficient to do Greater Rifts, but having just one viable build and only one choice for off piece (coigh, RoRG, T&T for DH, WH) really kills the variety of a genre based on loot and customization.



Last but not least: Blizzard should push smaller patches more often, even with few tweaks of new items. I know they want quality, but the content is burnt waaaaaaaay too fast (thank you kadala and "a bit" too high drop rates) that doing the same thing over and over without a reward gets boring too fast in my opinion.



Oh well, thankfully i'll play a bit more as soon as 2.1.2 goes live and i'll try my luck on ancient items.

starcraft 1 and 2 were exactly the same thing .. why d2 and d3 are so 2 opposite game

Loot system (class specific loot and soulbound stuff) killed it for me. I always loved farming on D2, getting excited by some special unique for another class, and thinking about new builds\specs for them. Also, the replay value is 0. Changing talents on the fly and the likes, and not having to make several chars to explore various options (again, as D2), sucks.



So yea, love the gameplay, spells, maps, bosses, models, etc. But the systems in place are absolutely horrid at the moment.

For me it was Blizzard's ignorance of all the cheaters in game, letting people exploit or use 3rd party programs without any fear of retribution that ruined my experience.

0 end game content = no point farming trash mobs for best in slot gear when everyone is capable of doing it. Make hard bosses with guaranteed loot and keep releasing new boss content? Just copy WoW pve concept and think about adding some pvp if you want but I doubt it as the people working on d3 are brain dead or just don't care.

Quit D3 = reason, Im already bored of it

What made Diablo 2 better was an open-trade system and a loot system which didn't shower you in...loot.

You know what kills longevity? Catering to those who demand increased loot drops in the form of legendary surplus compounded by a lack of trade. You play for a couple weeks and you're decked out in whatever overpowered combination of gear is the flavor of the patch and you move on whereas Diablo 2 took much more time and effort to achieve the same goal through farming and player interaction within a functional lobby system. Clicking on a player who had his profile set up to show what he had to trade or wants to buy or even having the ability to create specific games to be joined for a trading free-for-all was the foundation of the 'end game' experience of Diablo 2.

Now, all you do is hit a button and relish in personal loot which is vendor trash 99% of the time and does nothing but create a divide not only in the community but right in to the games themselves which you have no control over joining.

Solution: Scrap this current MMO-inspired chat system and develop a fully functional battle.net lobby akin to Diablo 2, abolish bound-on-account items entirely, and readjust the drop-rate of legendary items to accommodate a open-trade system (ie lower the drop rates). 'But that 4chan hacker guy will ruin the economy' yeah, okay, it'll have an impact to some degree and if Blizzard were more on top of their game it'd be less of an issue but, as far as I and (it seems) many others are concerned, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks in the grand scheme of things. Also, the removal of cool down abilities.

Throwing in new content regardless of how good it may be will not solve the issue that this game is build on a broken MMO-inspired foundation. RoS did a lot of things right but it was only a matter of time before the same issues began to crop up and caused players to leave. Path of Exile has provided me with much more replay-ability because Grinding Gear Games doesn't assume we're all crooked players, tons of build variations, is built around a more robust 'end game' design, constant communal events, and provide content updates on a very regular basis.

Why I stopped playing for now...

My nr1. Suggestion: Option to turn smart loot on or off. If you're geared, 99% of all items go right into the shitter, while the time playing you could also gather gear for your alts.

1) No PVP

2) No Trading



= no incentive to play other than grinding small improvements on gear and leveling up for minimal stat boosts. That part of the game was fun. But nowhere near a game mode which is able to last for years to come.



In D2, you grinded with a main. And used your wealth to get: Better gear, or gear for your alts. The gear was of such level that your alts could very well play as good as your main. However, thats not the case in D3. Which boils down to that I miss the fact that I cannot switch easily between characters before having to grind a million hours to get proper gear.

The auction house was the final straw. When you were FORCED to buy gold or farm to be able to buy even just good gear in order to be viable, I decided it was no longer fun. i like simple exploration, killing mobs, quests, and not having to grind gold to buy set pieces just in order to complete content on the hardest modes. i was glad when AH went away, should have never been there in the first place.

The next reason i stopped playing is: boring. boring. boring. It is the very same thing, over and over and over and over and over. With a few random gear upgrades every couple of days. And then the rift system was introduced and suddenly I can't do things solo like I used to (I can do the lower level stuff but get nothing useful for my efforts.)

Finally, WoD was released, and I haven't logged in to D3 for months now. Maybe I will check out this new patch that everyone is talking about and see if anything is different, but not going to hold my breath.
