Hello everyone! We have a quick preview of the Diablo 3 characters that will be in Blizzards next title "Heroes of the storm". Click each picture to be taken to our new site "heroesnexus.com" to get a look at their abilities and talents!
IMPORTANT NOTE: The following pictures were created using alpha content. This means many of the abilities may change. Also keep in mind There may be more heroes to come before release (and many more to come after).
This is awesome!
haha - I only made the spotlight comics themslevs - ill let the guy who made the banner to get it fixed
I would absolutely love to test this.
It is indeed part of the MOBA genre, or as Blizzard like to define the game themselves - Hero Brawler. You can call it whatever you want though, I still go with "DotAs".
But I'll definitely try it out, it will probably turn out to be a fun way to spend 30 minutes of your day, have a quick match or two without the stress that comes with a hardcore game like Dota.
I have nothing against using the name fo the first game as a genre name (think warship classes, they all do this), but if one tries to invent a proper genre name, can it please not include almost every single multiplayer game?
Think of it: Multiplayer (anything networked) Online (anything with a central server) Battle (anything but Sims) Arena (not open-world).
Hell, QuakeWorld is a MOBA. Diablo 3 (pvp) is a MOBA. Battlefield is very much a MOBA. Starcraft 2, god almighty, is a MOBA!!
Thanks, I'll pick Hero Brawler or an Action Strategy, or something like that.
It's never too late for that. They're just starting to experiment with heroes.
Anyway, played as Diablo at blizzcon, it was fun. He likely has the pre-D3 look because of the role he plays (heavy melee) and to distinguish him from the other heroes.
Interesting distinctions on MOBA's...I'd ultimately have to agree with overneathe and orcjmr, in the way that it will always be a "DotA" to me (just like a square looks like a square) and that "MOBA" is quite broad in terms of what designates a game to be considered a mobile online battle arena. By definition it doesn't seem like it is enough on its own to be a "genre".
Anyway, Nintendrag0n that's a great idea about adding some D2 exclusive heroes and I'm sure it might already be a popular idea within development. They have perfect skills for such a game too.
I'd also like to say that I'm hoping for this to actually be a little more casual, or at least offer a match option that doesn't take 30-45 minutes + to finish. I've played DotA2 the most out of its predecessor and LoL, though I've seriously not played anywhere near the average player. That being said, that may be why I am favoring a more casual approach but again it is a little stressful (to me) to have to dedicate 30-45 minutes of constant attention to a competitive PvP arena-type match or whatever you'd like to call it.
