Act III Inferno Farming, Treasure Creatures Drop Rates, RMAH ToS Update - Authenticator Required, Commodity Auctions, Blue Posts

Act III Inferno Farming
Vanguards posted an article over on ArenaJunkies that covers some of his thoughts on his time in Diablo III. Within this article he includes a farming spot he used in Act III Inferno to get some good gear. You can check out the video below and the full post over on ArenaJunkies.

Treasure Creatures Drop Rates
Another of our members by the name of Cyeron has made some interesting statistics on the drop rates for Treasure Creatures. The info covers drops on tomes, gems, white, magic and rare items. You can find his very detailed topic over here.

A quick summary from his post:
  • Treasure Goblins are generally all-around great to kill, dropping mostly gold and magic items.
  • Treasure Bandits have the by far best drop chance for Tome of Secret (I had one bandit dropping 5).
  • Treasure Seekers drop gems primarily, usually 2-4.
  • Treasure Pygmys may be ahead in gear quality, but this is not concluded - the sample size needs to be improved for this

Real-Money Auction House ToS Update - Authenticator Required
This is an important announcement for those wanting to use the RMAH. For account security, Blizzard will now require all users to have an authenticator to use battle.net balance and the RMAH.

Later today, the following updates will be made to the Terms of Use available on our website, and when the real-money auction house goes live, all players will be asked to re-read and accept these changes the next time they play Diablo III.

Battle.net Balance and Authenticator Update
With the introduction of the real-money auction house, account security will become more important than ever. To help ensure that players have a positive experience when using the real-money auction house, we’ve made some adjustments to how players can use and access their Battle.net Balance.

Starting today, in order to add to your Battle.net Balance, players will be required to have a Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator attached to their Battle.net account. For clarity, this means you’ll need to have an Authenticator to add to your balance via Battle.net Account Management or to send the proceeds of your real-money auction house sales to your Battle.net Balance.

Please note that players who previously added Battle.net Balance to their account prior to this change will be able to use it to makeeligible purchases on Battle.net and in the auction house without attaching an Authenticator. However, an Authenticator will be required to add to your balance in the future, as explained above.

While we understand that this creates an extra step for players during the login process, we believe this added layer of account protection will help foster a safer auction house environment for all of our players.

You can learn more about the Battle.net Authenticator, Battle.net Mobile Authenticator, and other account security information by clicking here.

Commodity Auctions Available
We reported yesterday that commodity auctions are once again available. Blizzard has post giving a little info on the matter.

We had to keep commodity trading inactive longer than anticipated in order to add the hardware and system optimizations necessary to handle the overwhelming popularity of the gold auction house, and the number of trades that resulted. We understand the frustration this has caused many of you and apologize for the interruption of your entrepreneurial enterprises. Through ongoing functionality tests and the monitoring of systems performance, we'll continue working to make sure the auction house remains a stable place to buy and sell your goods.

When trading commodities again you'll also notice some functionality changes, namely:
  • Prices will fluctuate less frequently when performing repeated searches.
  • Gold will be refunded when buying a commodity if a less expensive offer was found by the auction house after the initial search was run.
  • Commodity error messages may appear when commodities found during a search become sold out before a buyout is confirmed.
We're excited to have commodity trading once again made available and hope to see a bustling economy soon. We'll also continue working to improve auction house functionality and appreciate your continued feedback!

Commodities on the Real-Money Auction House

We’re continuing to evaluate the launch of the real-money auction house with respect to commodity trading. We’re in the process of tackling a few remaining issues and, to that end, it’s very possible that the RMAH will launch without commodity trading enabled. Our goal is to activate commodity trading on the real-money auction house as soon as is feasible, whether or not that aligns with its initial release.

Done on purpose, so only the people who really cared would try.. It allows them to monitor without flood/overload and essentially release in WAVES
This is essentially correct. We did somewhat of a "soft launch" to monitor the system during peak play times this week in various regions, without announcing that it was live. We wanted to ensure the auction house remained a stable environment before making an announcement.

We agree that it would be awesome if followers didn't auto-attack monsters are that in an idle state (i.e. treasure goblins). We think it's a great idea and are definitely looking into changing that AI behavior, but we don't have any solid idea as to when a change like that might make it into the game. We'll keep you updated. :)
