Nope. Old one was much better. Doesn't take up your whole screen and make you flip through 4 pages to find the skill you want.
Before you could open your skills, click a skill without flipping 4 pages, and be done.
He was referring to itemized runes vs new system. I think at the end they conceded about how people complained about the skills UI, so I'm hopeful we'll see improvements to it. Perhaps they just rushed it to get it out so fast... but hey, they said they look at the trends... and there's been 2 big trends: Skills UI fails, and Battle.net fails. So we'll see eh?
The new UI is 75% rune choice.. just fyi, i dont really mind it though
And I hope you're right about them actually watching the trends of what we don't like. I really want the old skill UI back.
Hmm; well I think they can do better than the new and old one. The old one didn't make sense with how it mapped hotbars slots to skill UI slots... but some simple hotkey indications would help... community has made lots of mockups!
No, you sir are incorrect. They say "skill systems" not "skill ui" - watch it again. They are referring to how they had skill trees and completely overhauled the system to the current 6-skill selection model. Video below is old but shows the change in August 2011.
That being said, I still agree that the new skill ui sucks, but that's not what they're referring to changing.

Anyway, I think the video diary was pretty decent. Kept me fairly interested and I didn't feel like my time was being wasted.
Friends, can we just trust those three guys? Those men work to give you the best game they can make. Give them a break.
"it's a blizzard game" trust these words. They will not release a game unless they themselves are staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning playing the game saying "this game is the best game ever".
its pretty amazing seeing how they went through the process of knowing it was problematic and just not good and then took it to the amazing place(yes the beta is amazing right now). this is an extremely hard and challenging process considering the possibility of failure of such situations.
Sorry, I rarely post, but I think something you forget is that, and I'll say this in all caps so it sinks in better: THEY DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING. This means if for their next project they want to announce it and the details a month before release, they can. You got to be a part of an [b]internal[b] development process and be sure that they, other than making a great game, have no obligation to let you be a part of this process. The trends for game developers lately is of course to let the community inside, behind the scenes, etc, and I love this personally. What I hate is the negativity and complaints once you've seen inside.
An analogy? I'm sure you love that hamburger you just got from some fast food place, but, and maybe this is only for me personally, I don't want to see or be involved in the raising, feeding, slaughtering, butchering, preparing of the meat that went in to make it.
In the end, enjoy you backstage pass in this process, but realize it's a privaledge, not a right, so leave the negativity for elsewhere and enjoy the game, whenever it does come out.
It was cool seeing Jay's reaction to the communities reaction. People gave Sixen a lot of crap for asking a bunch of questions concerning the reveal of the second implementation of the rune system (with random affixes) during an interview but he was soooooo right for doing so and props to him for bearing the burden of shouldering that flag for us right off the bat cause that would have been freaking awful.
