Sometimes I wonder just WHO or WHAT Cain really is.
In the past he has been kidnapped and imprisoned in Tristram, now he got struck by a flaming falling thing and thrown in the depths of the cathedral, later he will be chased/attacked by the minions of the Mad King...and he survived all this stuff?!?!?
Lucky guy indeed!
I'm glad I slept, the intro is really good and I appreciate the "drawings" dream choice but...I hoped for more.
You know, trolling and bad feelings aside, I for one am no longer looking forward *as much* after a 5 hour beta experience.
Blizzard are really crap at either making games or hiring people. Because more than one person who has played beta with me has remarked that they cannot believe it took four years to make.
I defended by saying its just a beta... We'll see.
And no release date? I'm starting to view blizzard as that bully/jock at school.
That's what I've been getting at. Like Blizzard has crossed the line of being devoted to quality to just being inept.
I'm all for taking the time to make a game right, but then if you're so unsure of what you're doing and you have to go back and change things again, then lighten up on the goddamn marketing and PR and just be developers. Be just that for awhile. Show us your professionalism.
Instead it really just feels like...I know what it feels like! It feels like people in D2 trading games that would show you their anni or torch and start telling you they're willing to trade for it. So you tell them what runes you got or whatever, you start to want the item and you start to put your heart into the negotiations. You figure after all this deliberation that something is gonna come out of it. But instead the guy with the item you want is like, nah, I'll just keep it for myself, but it was nice of you to get to see it, right? Then he leaves the game.
So were you offering that pally torch or weren't you? Either fucking deal or don't. Quit fishing for praise from the public for your new artwork or your act 3 screenshots or your cinematics. Which by the way I completely do not understand why they would release that. The opening cinematic, at least for those of us into the stories of games, is that part you sit down for the first time to watch after the Blizzard logo. You get blown away by something you've seen in its entirety for the first time and then are you so ready, so mentally committed to the game at this point.
And don't just tell me I don't have to watch the cinematic (I haven't) because that's not the point here. The point is is Blizzard has become too confident and self-conscious at the same time. They are too confident because they abuse the goodwill of many fans. They are self-conscious because they constantly need praise for every incremental step of the game development instead of just letting us be satisfied with a finished product in its entirety. Their hubris has just totally changed them as developers. They dangle shit in front of the fans with this sleazy, yeah you know you want this sort of attitude.
Will the game be awesome when it comes out. Sure it will. But will it be so awesome that everything I just described above will seem totally justifiable in the end? Only if you're a tool who thinks Blizzard can do no wrong and that they've never shown contempt for their fans(face it guys, they do all the time).
Is anyone familiar with the story of Daikatana? Has anyone ever heard the marketing phrase, "John Romero's about to make you his bitch"? Well, Blizzard couldn't make a game as awful as Daikatana if they tried. But there are other factors that can make you not enjoy a game. One of those factors is the journey you took to get there. They announced D3 in June of 2008...2008. And they've jerked fans around for so long with vague answers about its release. Oh but it's okay because Blizzard has always stated that it's done when it's done. Fair enough. So then get it done and shut the hell up! Turn down your marketing machine for just a second and stop trying to distract people away from your ineptitude and lack of consensus and cohesion as developers by releasing all your little updates and your actual in game cinematics for god's sakes. Is nothing sacred? Is the excuse that there are still plenty of surprises enough to show the fucking opening cinematic of the game?
All this being jerked around by Blizzard is going to distract me a bit when I'm actually playing the game. Like Jay Wilson is going to be breathing down my neck and whispering in my ear, "It's good, right? Oh yes, it's so fucking good isn't it?" And I'm like, gyaaaah! Stop rubbing your greasy image all over this game, Jay Wilson! Stop making me your bitch! Ayyyyy!
Holy crap how high is Deckard Cain's Vitality? He takes a fiery meteor and a free fall through fire and the next time we see him he is trying to ward of some Skellies like nothing happened. Must have some sick regen.
Everything was good until last few seconds. Was that a meteor or fire catapult? Very weak meteor. The impact is very lame... Just like catapult. Failed to put significance imo... Too many blizz fanboy here too blind. Cant even spot that imminent meteor flae
Ummm, perhaps that's because this isn't a meteor, but a flaming being of power. Now, I am not an expert on asteroid impacts, but one must take into account the size, mass, and velocity. So, one about the size of a human being would maybe have destroyed the cathedral. However, this is a fantasy setting, so let's say a being can harness that power, like an angel, for instance, then wouldn't he be able to unleash it downward instead of outward.
I don't know, this might seem a bit too much to comprehend for someone of limited imagination and blind understanding in logic, especially someone who goes onto a game's forum, calling its fans fanboys (what about the fangirls?), like a small child who doesn't receive enough attention at home and then tries to quench his parental hatred by taking it out on faceless individuals all across the world.
Youre so blind you will suck blizzard dick and lick blizz shit
You are just trying to anger people to satisfy your own sad, petulant existence.
I'm sorry for ranting, but people like this embody everything that is wrong with this world.
Back on topic, I love this art style in the beginning. GW2 also employs an artistic style in its cinematics and I wish more companies would do this. It just feels so vibrant and unique.
The bile and bitterness flowing from you people is absolutely astonishing. You have no business on this forum, go away.
I take it that I am one of your targets for what you stated.
I'm sorry, but if you create an account to come here with the sole purpose of tearing the game apart in such a way to anger fans, and then swear at them, then you deserve as much bitterness and bile as your recipients send your way. And if you condone his actions then you are just as bad as him.
I am an actual fan of the Diablo series, so, no thank you, I will not be going away. I have been here for months now, and I've had a part in many enjoyable and interesting discussions. So, I think I have the right to be here as much as you.
Didn't disappoint. Not too fussed about a release date, as I have SWTOR to look forward to (haters gonna hate?). Really segues well into Act I doesn't it!
I just worked 9 hours straight, had a few brews, just watched the cinematic 3 times... all i can say is.....fuck you blizzard you ruined everything.!!!! haha lol just kidding (troll talk)... now we know about finding cain deep below tristram. Epic batlle... makes me think thou about a full feature length film like this cinematic. the way of the future i think. yes sir. Any agree?
Amazing intro, amazing style and amazing music. The handdrawn stye really worked.
The only thing I felt was lacking was a finishing punch, similar to the part in D2 where the music rises and Marius says:
"Why did I follow him? I don't know. Why do things happen as they do in dreams? All I know is that, when he beckoned, I had to follow him. From that moment, we traveled together east. Always, into the east."
And then the logo flies in. It doesn't end in immediate crisis like the D3 one, but it doesn't have to. It still conveys the story so well.
The first part (drawning) was quite good, but the text (what Cain keeps saying) is a way too cheesy.
The part were the meteor hits Cain and Leah scream "uncleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" was fucking lame. Screaming names in final sequencies is kinda of a prove that you use 60 years old cliches and have bad taste.
The fact that the epic scene (war, orchestral music) comes before the chat scene is underwhelming, specially because the chat scene is weak in content (theres no strong revelation in that Cain-Leah chat). It's like the hype level decrease as the video pass by:
1. War Scene between Angels and Demons (hype level 10!)
2. Chat scene with no relevant content (hype level 3. wtf -_-)
3. Meteor falls in Cain's head (hype level 4.... I already kno he lives so whats the big deal >_>)
In simple words, this video is extremely anticlimatic.
And before some mindless Blizz whore comes saying "go away troll", let me tell you a thing. I"m not here to get together with people to worhsip some earthly God. I'm here to tell what i feel about this game. If i feel bad about somethig i will creat 4.000 threads trolling Blizz as much I as want as long as I have arguments and reason to do so.

Back to waiting mode.
For those of you who aren't aware, what they did with that sequence was INSANELY difficult.
Blizzard art team, you da best <3

I like this Tyrael theory, might just be plausible after all. We'll see.
