TWITTER: Blizzard updated its Twitter news feed recently with a tidbit that may enliven release date speculation once more. Wonderfully ambiguous and marginally sarcastic, it may, ironically, be the most solid declaration from any Blizzard representative we have for the release of Diablo III:

Link or it didn't happen. Also, who said Diablo III was coming out in 2011?

Could this be Blizzard slyly knocking off a 2011 release in favor of a later one? The latest vague hints at development status would suggest the Diablo III team is keeping a steady pace, but perhaps Blizzard will come around and surprise us all by announcing a winter 2010 sale! (Doesn't hurt to hope, does it?)

He might not know the exact release date/month, but you have to keep in mind that Bashiok is well in the loop and he knows how far along the game is. All signs, quotes, etc. have pointed towards the fact that they are in the polishing stage of the game, and they have figured out everything they want to do with D3 and it's just a matter of finishing it. No matter when you think the game will be released, you have to at least acknowledge that it's becoming more and more likely that we will see this game in 2011.

I'm 80% certain that Diablo 3 will be released in Q4 2011. If it's released in 2012, and the world ends in 2012, we can make "LOL..DIABLO IS SO AWESOME..IT BROUGHT FORTH THE FUCKING APOCALYPSE..HOPE TYRAEL COMES TO SAVE THE DAY!" jokes 4 seconds before we die.

Y'know, if a bunch of lemmings didn't buy into the 2012 bullcrap, 2012 would probably sound pretty appealing right now. :rolleyes:

I'd put my nuts on 2011. Yes, my testicles belong to those who bet on a 2012 release. If in the event that I lose, keep them in a jar of honey to prevent decay.

I've always said Q3 2011, and I'm sticking to it. Tale of the tape: Q3 vs Q4, both measuring up to 3 months each. Weight is unknown. Reach? Uh.. well.. 3 months there too I guess lol. WHO WILL WIN?!

If it does come out in 2012 tho, and the world ceases to exist, you can be damn sure it will be one HELL of a release-party! Get.. g-get it?

Frankly, it sounds like he is just putting that 2012 out there just in case they are not finished by 2011. Sounds like he's just covering Blizzard's ass in case they don't make it all the way.
