Belial has been confirmed in a recent IGN article!
So could Belial, like some have guessed, been posing as Tyrael to destroy the Worldstone?Originally Posted by Jay Wilson
The first act is a little bit more of a mystery, there's this cult that has been operating in and around the rebuilt Tristram, you're trying to find out who they are. Act two's a little bit more of an intrigue and deception-focused story, because Belial is in there. Act three, there's a lot more.
Also a 5th class tidbit:
So that's that! One more class to drool over and then lots more questions about Belial and the possibility of him posing as Tyreal! I'm very curious how they'll work that one into D3, sometimes they're subtle hints to things like this, but in this case we'll have to see what the brilliant minds have in store for us!IGN: Have you confirmed how many unrevealed classes there are, to round out the entire party?
Jay Wilson: There's one more.
IGN: You did mention that it's being revealed next year, and that it's someone from the previous games?
Jay Wilson: I did say that. I probably shouldn't have said that, because we're not sure that's going to be the case. It's just logical, that's what we tend to do. But it may or may not. I'm not gonna answer it, anyway? [laughs]
They are classic Pen and Papers and aside the first two classes so far taken from Pen and paper RPGs.
I also think in the first expansion, they'll have the antithesis of a Paladin, perhaps a Blackguard. It would basically be a Paladin/Necro. I could see them building a story about how the Paladin from D2 went crazy and became corrupted by darkness. He would make a cameo in D3, still not fully consumed by darkness, but in the expansion he would come to the heroes, consumed entirely, and desperate to break free and become a holy Paladin once again.
If you're going with the very sketchy 'males are stronger than females' angle, then they'd also make better archers. Not to mention that females have those troublesome obstacles on their chests--they'd be better with blades than bows for that reason.
There are too many problems down the road of sexually dimorphic game mechanics. Better to keep gender an aesthetic difference only.
Also: nice to meet you, Kyle. I'm Kyle.
And I know that testosterone enables men to build muscle more easily, but I don't know what medical evidence there is on women being 'more agile' (or how agility helps with archery, for that matter, as it's just arm strength and eyesight). They have more flexible legs, yes, thanks to the wider pelvis. But the rest of their musculature and their reflexes are the same as a similarly built male. Unless you cite Robert A. Heinlein as your source.
Of course, it's common today--and has been throughout much of European history--that men are fatter than women, and that certainly makes women more agile on average, but that's a culturally reinforced difference, not a genetic one. Genes actually dictate that we burn fat more easily, but there's little social pressure on us to do so compared to women.
Anyway, what a derailing! Sorry.
Alchemist: Maybe I just read too much Terry Brooks as a kid, but this seems very viable. The playstyle would, of course, be very much like the assassin.
Priest: We've only ever had one 'holy' character, in the form of the paladin, though we encountered the corrupted forms of his robed fellows, the Priests of Zakarum. It would be nice to lay down the Holy Law once again, in a more direct form.
Bard: The Diablo series' first finesse melee fighter, I thought the bard was quite a compelling class that was a shame to leave out of Hellfire. Looking at this thread, it's the sort of thing that people seem to want, anyway.
The Bard would be even less of a 'previous class' than the Monk, since it was never even officially added to Hellfire and could only be activated by editing the command.txt file.
Seems unlikely now though.
I also don't really see why they couldn't take an existing NPC and put a spin on him to make the character a lot more diverse. Imagination anyone?
In my opinion we almost definately will see a ranged class. Amazon seems unlikely because of gender, as does the rouge. I'm betting they're gonna take an interesting NPC from the previous games to the drawing board and see if they can't build something into an original character.
Havez u tried dat new Oriflame red rose rouge? It's teh shit !!!
Finally a cosmetics product for menz too.
Do not equalize the rogue as a class with the "sisterhood of the sigthless eye".
*Nuh-uh
And whether lances, spears etc. fall in the same category as two handed axes?? or if it is applicable in the Barbarian skill tree (I don't believe it's same as polearm staves like the monk uses) is important as well as to what the next class will be. If not then this question should have it's own thread as well.
*A word used by cool people that are always right. So come to your senses and accept it.
Yeah, I live in China and I can confirm that there are women monks, so that's the end of this discussion. But nevertheless, this isn't based on real life but on Sactuary. So it's pointless.
Thus keeping this in mind, Sanctuary lore would have us believe that certain Rogue Groups are only comprised of women....Not really certain about that. And that amazon warriors are all female due to their apparent lack of estrogen. (Exept in the chest area)
This only leaves us with few possibilities indeed....
As previously mentioned, it will be an old character, perhaps NPC, as hinted by a few players. (No Paladin88, it doesn't matter what you might think you know, it can very well be an NPC or NPC inspired class)
So for ranged it could be the following.:
-Rogue (Different Faction, not the sisters.)
-Amazon (Men taking arms due to massive assault on their lands)
-Iron Wolves (I think that's what the act 3 mercs were called)
-Act 2 Mercs, but a ranged regiment. (Hopefully with Auras or Passives and a cool new name)
-Act 4 (Angelic Gate warrior, the one who sold weapons with a cool char name)
-Act 5 (Ranged Barbarian warriors, as was mentioned by Sabvre and his Mongols)
Or just a new character being a hybrid of previous 2 ranged classes, with a different name. Ranger, Archer, both being very unisex and straightfoward.
First time I hear that rogues have to be in a faction
no comment on teh noobz dat were staying home n cook1ng teh foodz, except that Blizz can twist the lore to whatever angle suits them. So nothing is set in stone.
I see. This Iron Wolf class seems excellent. Btw, what the hell is it?
Another fine class. Gotta think of a cool name though.
Where exactly did we "meet" these nomadic warriors during the previous games?
wut?
Oh, I agree- the "act II merc" name sounds lame.
Only reason why they'd be brought back are the polearm weapons which combined with the ranged abilities could fit very well in the missing spot. It can even combine the assassin/rogue/bard philosophies. But having noone to say whether any spears, tridents etc. were dropped in the demos or if the barbarian class can utilize such weapons effectively with the parts of the skill-tree that we know, a discussion cannot exist.
NEWS: By searching through these forums i have also come to the conclusion that the 5th class will be a gYpSiE ftw !! (classname includes "ftw")
dude was that a quote from harold and kumar at the end...you sir are win...on topic belial is good news he seems cool from what ive heard around the boards....but he shouldnt be tyreal...id cry just look at my avatar he got me into diablo lol an angel that finnally whoops ass in a game
and for class im betting ranger type/druid they've been doin mixes mostly so im guessing druid, zon mix
I think the can simply modify the barb and that?s all...since a ranger and a barb could become the same...
what u think of a Swashbuckler???
monk is f****** awesome... but with a swash... D3 would be the perfect (more than already is) game ever!!!
Did I say they did, not really I just proposed they could be...Did you actually read my post or just scanned through it before before trolling?
Basically you got it...It's their game, their world, they can basically do what ever the hell they want. So your just stating the obvious.
Use your imagination, that would actually make your posts relevant.
yeah once again repeating what I just said, and stating the obvious.
Umm, let me think, Act5 all over the Bloody Foothills, etc. Those were all barbs and could of all been throwers or ranged if Blizzard chose to. Mount Arreat, one of the ancients was a ranged barb (double throw hatchets) For a guy that hates noobs who spew out nonsense your kinda rusty on your Diablo Facts.Or maybe you just trying to act dumb... Is this a pertinent comment that deserved you having to quote me to say...wut? Seriously, your basically the kind of person your signature flames. Someone who comes on to spew nonsense. I don't mind you discussing ideas or refuting points or even disagreeing with me. But at least try to make logical comments, then you'll even sound smart. Double bonus.
Trolling....I think someone should report these.....? Nah, let's have fun and see what else you can say. Yeah like I said, I didn't feel like thinking up a name, so I said "with a better name". So your once again just trolling and stating the obvious.
Holy Sh*t, you actually made a half pertinent comment. Congrats.
This discussion CAN exist, thus called speculation. Which most of these forums are based on as you might not be aware. And it's not just because we saw the act 2 merc using polearms that every warrior from that region fights as such. It just means that in D2, the ranged merc position was already taken by act 1 mercs therefore they didn't need to implement it on act 2 mercs. Do I even have to say this, you really can't think of it by yourself?
Seriously though I don't really appreciate your attitude, if your here to flame people who you don't agree with, just don't post. If I do see you posting these kind of comments again I will report them for trolling. So please use some maturity in your posts, you'll find that people will have much more civilized discussions with you and might even take you seriously down the line.
Thanks.
didn't read your post or what the other person posted except for what I quoted
1. flooding the forums with QQutrullme is worse than the actual trolling you are responding to
2. you are flaming him because he doesn't agree with you
3. QQutrullme
OH U!
Seriously guys, kiss and make up.
Er, shake hands.
