Blizzard has released a timeline of the Diablo Universe which provides a chronological background for the history of Sanctuary for those who are geeky about lore.
The World Stone some what protected Sanctuary for both the High Heavens and the Burning Hells. once it was corrupted my guess the World Stone gave the advantage to the Burning hells. Destroying it would back it balanced again but Sanctuary is now unprotected from both sides.
Diablo is defeated. His Soulstone is destroyed, along with Mephisto's, upon the Hellforge.
Notice nothing about Baal in there ;P
I loved the artwork for Skovos, beautifully colored and detailed, lush and verdant, with buildings cleanly contrasted against the greenery and blue harbor. Absolutely beautiful. If Skovos is indeed going to be in the game, it will be wonderful to learn more about the Amazonian culture.
I don't know how they could put Skovos into diablo 3. its an island and by the artwork its mostly a city. the only way i can think of them putting it in is if your there to help prevent an invasion, which means your going to be fighting within the city.
Is that just a suit of Barbarian armor? Early D2 Paladin or Necro artwork?
A new class?!
Whatever it is, I'd love to put a suit of that on my character!
to me the middle one looks like an armored angel the one on the right i'm not quite sure look like a necro with the skull on the shoulder but can't quite tell
That drawing is actually in Cain's Journal when he's talking about the hero. Don't know anything other than that.

Nice to see some more stuff finally up. Hopefully they will keep them coming until Blizzcon. I like Skovos looks like Rome or something; would be nice if they include it in the game.
Yeah that's what Ureh is there for. It already has been said by Leonard and Bashiok that we wouldn't see Skovos in D3 but that the Artwork was to build a background for Sanctuary. It's probably the background for a new class or as some might want to believe a future MMO.

My guess it was the desert region of the Dry Steppes which is north of the jungles of Kehjistan.

But yeah the artwork of Skovos looks realy good.
Or maybe some kind of interesting dungeon mixed with water ways and stuff... Hm... Your idea seems more plausible, though.
Looks like a new suit of armor between the "demoness Andariel" entry, and the "Tomb of Tal Rasha" entry???
