Blizzard has released new artwork, screenshots and wallpapers. As commented few weeks after WWI Paris, atrumentis had suggested the ruined city in the Diablo 3 Cinematic might be the Ruins of Ureh. The Wallpaper released today confirms it is indeed Ureh from Diablo: Kingdom of Shadow novel by Richard A. Knaak.
The screenshots show the lot of work the art team is putting into making outdoor scenarious look like a vivid and colorful 3D world right out of a museum painting. The second screenshot, in contrast, shows a darker atmosphere dungeon.
Then I apologise to MD for suggesting he was jumping to conclusions. I think I need to read the Diablo Archive to get a clearer picture in my mind about Ureh, don't want to read MD's thread with the plot spoiler! Hopefully they will unveil Ureh at Blizzcon and then update the website with a full page like they have Caldeum and Tristrum. It feels like this game is gonna come so soon but I'm sure it will be ages yet.
Defo agree with what has been said above about that demonic looking fallen angel. I really hope it's Inarius. Would make some kind of sense if he returned after the worldstone's destruction considering his powers were linked to the stone in some way.

I think possibly it could be Inarius but I thought he had his wings torn off and his flesh stretched with hooks when he was imprisoned in Hell in a room full of mirrors.
I don't know what this 'Ureh' people keep mentioning is, but I always thought that Minas Tirith was white. It was called the 'white city'. Also, the river Anduin doesn't run that close to the city. All in all, though, it's a really cool LotR image.

Grrrrrrrr. Now I like LotR as much as the best of them but to be fair if the Diablo lore says there is a city on a cliff then the devs have to give us a city on a cliff. And that is the only similarity between Ureh and Minas Tirith. Give them a little slack here, its very hard now to do anything that can't be compared to something else in popular culture.

Just ignore him, he's a troll.
They don't look the same at all really except being on a cliff.

Troll? I love Diablo and I love LotR. That picture does look a lot like like Minas Tirith with a sunset. I also realize that it's impossible to create a fantasy world that bears no similarities to another fantasy world. It was only a joke. Here's what I was talking about: http://depts.washington.edu/ctltstaf/yms/minastirith4.jpg. Of course, Minas Tirith has no waterfal nearby, there is only one jut of rock coming out of the mountain, it isn't brown/tan, there are seven ringed levels, and there are no mountains except the one it's built onto. Still, the first thing I thought when I saw Ureh was, 'that looks like Minas Tirith'.
MedievalDragon, how does this prove this is Ureh? You've got two screenshots of zones we've already seen, and three pieces of artwork which have no title that I can see, and that don't even give a clue as to what they are by the filename. I'm not doubting it is Ureh necessarily, I'm just wondering how you came to this conclusion? Is there something I've missed here? I just get the impression you are jumping to conclusions!
Things look the same just blurrier to me. Less defined.
I see no reason why they would of changed it from the original and the difference seems so minor it could even be the effect of the magic weapon glow or the frosty mist you can see on the ground from a enemy recently killed.

I see now.The environment was blurry then and it is blurry now.Just had to look your second ss @ 1600x1200 px.
I actually went to read the book when it was suggested from the cinematic that this was Ureh, and gotta say I'm glad I read it, awesome book.
And now having Ureh in Diablo III we can be sure we will see some returning characters from Kingdom of Shadow, more so after reading this:
Quote from Jay Wilson »
"We also tried to focus a little more on bringing characters back, and not just from Diablo II but from Diablo I," he said. "We feel like a lot of the focus is on Diablo II but Diablo Istarted it all and has a lot of really good stuff on the gameplay side and on the character side. So people can expect to see characters from Diablo I, more characters from Diablo II, and characters from some of the books. We're definitely going to bring a few of them in."
I'm more than sure that we are going to see Zayl as an NPC with Humbart (Hopefully! :D) and it would be nice to have Kentril as well.
Thats what I would expect too, but this is what I see. And this is why I am confused!
Weird mine says Ureh.

That thumb of the Barbarian looks like a mage class mid-casting of a spell.
I didn't know it was Barb 'til I clicked on it for a bigger view.
Kind of does, but closer up I can definitely tell it's a barbarian.
Would hate to see a mage built like that.

It's you.
If anything they look more detailed. The barbarian lacks that white glow like the earlier pictures of him in the dungeon.
If you focus on barbarian and zombies you can see they are more detailed and shinier but for environment it looks pale and less detailed.
I blame it on a different computer used to run the game for the screen shots.
The new one looks blurrier for some reason.
