More BlizzCon Tickets - Mike Morhaime Apologizes
On behalf of everyone at Blizzard, I want to apologize for the challenges and frustrations you experienced while trying to purchase BlizzCon tickets on Monday and Tuesday. BlizzCon is about the positive experiences you all have had with Blizzard games. As a result of this week's events, the excitement that many of you felt about the show has turned into dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Due to these circumstances, we've reevaluated our convention hall space and come up with some solutions that will allow us to offer 3,000 more tickets for sale. We know this will not be enough to satisfy the very high level of demand for tickets this year, but we want to ensure that BlizzCon remains a great experience for those of you who are able to attend. To avoid the issues many of you faced this week, we'll be selling these 3,000 via a lottery. We'll post further details once our plans are finalized. Please note that the lottery will only be open to those with an active Blizzard Account as of 9:00 PM PDT on August 12, the time that the “Sold Out” notice was posted.
I, and everyone else at Blizzard, share the frustration and disappointment that many of you have expressed as a result of this process. We'll do what it takes to avoid this type of situation in the future.
Sincerely,
Mike Morhaime
Sure, there will always be people that complain and say "meh meh should have got it right the first time meh meh meh" but you have to applaud Blizzard for taking action like this, they are one of the few gaming companies that consistently go the extra mile for their fans.
Haha. No im glad they are so good to their fans. It truly shows in circumstances like this
True, true true true.
True
They do honestly love their fans...
unlike mythic who gives their CE people 3 extra days of beta ><
so
dammit
BUT I do think if they do announce a new mmo at blizzcon or at WWI next year, or even at the next blizzcon
they need to rent out the entire center and allow 50k people in so we can have a nerd orgy
As far as I can see they don't seem to profit that much through these conventions, but I'm not stating I know for fact, just that it sure doesn't seem like it.
haha for real, maybe by next year i'll enough money/spare time to go to blizzcon.
exactly
the profit comes from people going to these events, telling their friends/internet about how amazing it was, thus people go out and buy their games
blizzard makes 10,000,000 x $14.99 a month, now take out server cost, salary, the take that vivendi gets out, they still probably get a profit of 5 million a month
if they made the tickets free, no one could get in because everyone would be getting their free (max tickets allowed) tickets
the money they get is to pay for the event, hiring the fire people from the diablo announcement, renting out the rooms, cleaning after the nerd-gasms as they announce World of Tony Hawk Pro Skater...
the list goes on
The evil swines, how dare they be so amazing!
I bet Blizzcon is gonna be packed this year..woot!
but i really love Blizzard! yeah man i love them, don't you?
