Diablo III Description
Diablo III is being developed as the definitive action role-playing game, and a true continuation of the Diablo series. Players will create a hero from one of five distinct classes, such as barbarian or witch doctor, each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. As these heroes adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic storyline and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and challenging bosses, they'll grow in experience and ability and acquire items of incredible power.
The game takes place on Sanctuary, a world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants, Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those warriors who directly faced Hell's armies - and were fortunate enough to survive - went mad from their experiences. And most of the others have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront evil in its many forms once again.
Diablo III will be a fitting sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It will also include many new features that will take the Diablo action-RPG experience to the next level!
Diablo III for PC Features:
* Five powerful character classes to choose from, including the barbarian and witch doctor.
* Brand-new 3D graphics engine enhanced with spectacular visual effects and Havok physics.

NO?!! i thought so...
and before you try to tell me World of Warcraft, do MORE research.. wow is NOT RUN ON BATTLE.NET U FOOLS, THERE ALL RUN ON PRIVATE SERVERS. so seriously stop all this OMG IF ITS P2P IM GONNA QUIT BLIZZ FOREVER..
and if you REALY still dont get it or believe me, take a little trip to battle.net and goto the warcraft section... tell me if you see a WoW section in there... NO? yeah thats because its not played over battle.net, only starcraft, warcraft, and diablo are.
sorry of this sounds a little harsh, but after reading hundreds of the same goddamn threads\reply's to a question thats been answered 100 times over, im getting a little fed up. come up with some GOOD questions and speculation...
Easy tiger.
The only people they are really losing are people (like me) who were only playing wow because there was no D3
Indeed yes! And from what I recall the D2 CE was the only way to get the soundtrack CD as it was not an item that was for sale otherwise.
And the skelly on the CD cover & disc is a pretty cool image. I suspect some bands out there wish they could have used it for their CDs!
They'd lose alot of their gamers... 2 - 3 years is enought time for kids to go on and focus on college / work / etc. Theyre VERY lucky to have the fanbase they do, so theyre going to work very hard and quickly. Alot of you need to be OPtimistic... I mean.. the main complaint is the Contrast... NOT the gameplay, NOT the storyline.. but the frikkin lighting.
Anyway... I think that SC2 will come out soon, and in the sc2 package will be a small advertisement for diablo 3.. which means it'll be coming soon after sc2.
I have 100% faith in Blizzard. Remember that there was an actual Diablo 3 game that was more or less done by the Bliz North guys that was scrapped for not being good enough.
The fact is that if they had released that early D3 it still would have sold a million copies even if it was not good enough.
Instead they started all over again and risked letting the energy of the series die out in this world of Halo 3 & GTA 4. In a business world where they insist that one strikes while the iron is hot, Blizzard will only strike when the hammer is ready to strike!
I am not aware of many other companies that would allow years and years to go by in between releases, especially for a series as hot as Diablo. But Bliz cares not for high initial sales due to a product that was rushed for the X-Mas market. They care more that the game is done in such a way to capture the heart and soul of the gamer so that we will wait a decade or more for the next part!
It's funny to think that when I first started playing Diablo (D1 that is) I was the sort who would have typed in leet speek (I pwned yur a$$ ya noob!), but these days I try to post with as much proper grammer and spelling as I can and totally avoid flame wars with other users.
Think about that...When Diablo 4 comes out a bunch of the younglings 'round here could have families, corporate jobs, etc.
I have all those (and the etc. as well) now, but when I was playing D1 I never would have thought as much!
I'd say 1 year at least.
I agree. I think becuase the game demo film looked so polished that it makes one think the whole sheebang is almost done.
But I can also believe that they may only have one act done. They may be pretty much done with the graphics engine and enough design elements to have created that demo, but that hardly means the whole game is coded and being debugged as we speak.
I can believe that the whole story, on paper at least, is all done. All that is left is to put what is on paper to computer and make sure it plays nice with B.net.
And I'd guess that will take 1-2 years.
But just knowing that it is really being worked on and not some back burner project is pretty freakin sweet!
Not really. It will not be an mmorpg, so the massive work put onto developing constant updated content, along with the server maintenance, so charging $14-15 monthly will indeed leave a lot of displeased fans.
On the other hand, I would gladly pay 5 bucks each month to have some sort of tech support and a completely hack free game. SOJ anyone?
lmfao......
(But I want to!)
im hesitant in doing so.... because i must be a moron.
10million wow > 5 million diablo 2
and most of WOW fans are too "proud" to go to another blizzard game if one was released.
or am i missing something here?
its been in development for 4 years from the current team. but blizzard north had been working on it for 2 years prior. whether all their work was scrapped or not is a guess.
i just dont think people understand that the first 20% of a game does not equal in length of development time the next 20% of a game. They have said theyve got the first act completed...i can honestly see them being done with the rest of the acts in 3 months, i
see the addition of the new battlenet and other online options taken up the most time in where the developing team is at right now. I cant see any reason this game wont be in an almost finished state come january next year.
i predit it being out by next years june.
funny... my big fail was just SUPPORTED by what you said.
i said MOST of WoW players are too "proud" to go to another blizzard game, by that logic less than 50% of the 10million current subscribers ( 5million duh) will abaondon WoW for another blizzard game.....
you went even furth by saying up to 20% will leave WoW.... so how am i the big fail here when you just strengthen my prediction.
