Blizzard Establishes "Team 3"
Gamasutra reports that Frank Pearce of Blizzard Entertainment has just confirmed that the company is working hard on another new title... and it's not World of Warcraft or Starcraft II. 40 people are working on Starcraft II and 40 people are working on this secret Team 3 project, so it's definitely another big one. According to Pearce, "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can’t give you any hints, but it’s totally awesome."
With Blizzcon '07 coming up this August 3-4, people have high hopes that this mystery game will be unveiled.
Hmmm, Team 3... Diablo 3... could it be? Join our discussion!
That's a good thing though. There's a good chance it means they can't speak about it and don't want to let any information slip. If they talked about it lots I would be worried.
i still have hope for day 2, and still have hope for the future. i would also still double-fist myself when it is announced.
want me to delete it? i just thought it was a funny quote
Hopefully... well get some solid info.. Id be money well hear a bunch about Team 3.
So to say the least I am not surprised.
I'd actually like to call out Stealthyfart for starters. I read through the entire "Codename Hydra" thread the other day, and - even though it was interesting for the most part - Stealthyfart really broke the first rule of someone who posts under the guise that they have information we'd all like to hear: he did not substantiate his arguments with fact.
To be even more blunt, he never actually came out and said what he knew more of than us. It may have been a case of pulling all our collective legs. But now he leaves an odd post in this thread telling Carloseus that if he has patience he will experience unbridled joy?
Another case of him allegedly knowing something we all do not.
It's one thing to be a game company and give one of your franchises consistent updates, while another branch withers under the weight of age and dashed hope.
It's another thing to actually dangle delicious treats in front of our faces and not come right out and say them.
I may very well feel somewhat ashamed of doing this if and when all of his "secrets" are revealed...but for now...I'd very much like to see what Stealthyfart is hiding.
(Also, and as a separate note, once BlizzCon is conceded and everyone has gone home, and there is still no D3 announcement for us, I'm going to pen an open letter to Blizzard, and will include some key quotes. If anyone would care to give their account of this whole mess or perhaps a good summation quote then just send me a PM and I'll get to work.)
I suppose we're all just...disheartened.
No, Diablo got Diablo 2 after 4 years.
I think it was more then 4 years for Diablo 2, I have no information proving what I say but I would think they were creating Diablo 1 and 2 at the same time.
Diablo 2 was meant for a '98 release(if I remember correctly) and it was pushed a further 2 years for a complete overhaul which led to the July 2000 release.
It is just hard to believe that they released Diablo and then had a it's successor ready for release by 98(good thing they decided against it I can only assume they used the same engine as Diablo).
