"Don't fret, another Diablo game is in the hopper. This according to numerous high-ranking executives at Blizzard who have, over the past six months, assured in various interviews that the Diablo series would live on. It began at the German Games Convention in 2006, when Blizzard COO Paul Sims assured fans"
Just a quick summary. Nothing new, but at least it's something.
However, more interesting was that under Starcraft 2 there was a notice that Blizzard would have amajor announcement in 2007. What that could be though is uncertain.
Diablo III seems to have more rumors circulating about it around the public. Perhaps the fans of Diablo III are more enthusiastic. Diablo is a game that has vast replayability, but replayability gets old in 6 years. Every godly build has the same equipment, same skill builds, same everything - which gets boring.
StarCraft II is being hinted more strongly by actual employees at Blizzard, but nothing (if anything) has been leaked to spark major rumors. StarCraft, being very popular on Battle.net, it has tendencies to be less boring because there are new maps all the time, and every move you make is different than the last, depending on your opponent.
However, if BlizzCon were to be held tomorrow, I'd expect both games to be shown there. That would be the "MAJOR product announcement for 2007".
i will be playing games till the day i die, console and pc
Likewise. I'm going to be playing games the rest of my life, and I'm going to try to stick to Blizzard. They have proven to me they work hard and make quality games for EVERY franchise, and that really gains my respect. Sure, they are slow and frustrating at times, but they always make up for it later. I've been waiting for Diablo III for years, but I've remained patient for many years up to now.
Diablo II for me has now gotten old. I've seen it all, and done it all. I want something new from the Diablo franchise. I want more monsters, more items, more evil! I started boycotting Diablo II at the end of 2006 until the announcement of Diablo III.
lol it would be funny beong an old man playing diablo. Dueling, your reaction time like with the mouse to tele would be so slow. I can just imagine it. hah...
I've watched my dad (54) play Half-Life 2 and Day of Defeat - I couldn't stop shaking my head. I'll keep my reflexes fresh my entire life - especially for Diablo.
E for All Expo is all the way in October, so we have absolutely no word yet. I would assume a BlizzCon would be held before the Expo so that they can announce the game there, and show it off at the Expo.
