Biggest Diablo 3 Information Yet!
Today our partner site(www.wcradio.com) and a few others(www.blizzplanet.com, www.wowirc.com) hosted a Q&A with Richard A. Knaak, writer of the new book that takes place in the Diablo Universe, Diablo: The Sin War, Book One: Birthright. There are a couple questions relating to Diablo 3 and I think you will be very happy to hear the answers.
"The Sin War trilogy, written by New York Times bestselling author Richard A. Knaak, lays out the basic foundation for the lore of the Diablo universe."
Here are some questions from the interview.
Q - Rathi: Any ifnormation on Diablo3? Have you been asked to write a further story?
A - Knaak: What happens in the Sin War is significant, as I mentioned, toward the future. I know that Blizzard is very eager to make Diablo fans happy.
Q - Medievaldragon: Hope I am not spoiling much at this point, however I really have to ask. Blizzard introduced a new Pandemonium Event monster named Lilith (Act V) in Diablo II Patch 1.11. You can read about her at: http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act5-lilith.shtml
A - Knaak: Answer for Medievaldragon: She is, I believe, although she will look a little different by the game's point. Her part in the trilogy is major.
Q - Medievaldragon: How much of the book is creation of yours, and how involved is Chris Metzen behind the canon storyline of Diablo: The Sin War Trilogy? Do you think the ramifications of this book impact in the storyline of Diablo 3 the game?
A - Knaak: This is a pure collaboration between myself and Chris/Blizzard. All that is written is passed by him and the others there. This will be canon and has adjusted earlier info. The ramifications here will be used for any future project...and I ain't writing for a dead game.
Q - Deathshade|EU: So... Diablo 3?
A - Knaak: I am not writing for a dead world...but a world with dead. nuff said

Anyway, on what Moondoggie said: Diablo could make one hell of a MMO if they made it either PvP oriented (Heaven & Hell factions, the human player will have to choose sides) or PvE oriented (Player that works for Heaven against tons of demons etc - since Diablo mainly had us fight against the bad guys). Either way a Diablo MMO has the background to be great and get even more people than WoW has.Too bad it wont come anytime soon, tho.
ANd the character gradually manifests angelic or demonic physiical characteristics, like in Fable! Eyes burn with a demonic fire the more evil one become. The more heavanly you become the brighter your arua shine, Horns grow with the amount of heavenly creatures you fight....
You could basically make it 2 games...THe original Good vs Bad, and an Expansion when you are the bad, and you over power the good? I think that could be cool...makes more sense in trms of money!!!!
Where is her Daddy?
Good point;) haha

I see one of the questions almost covers what I would like to ask - the storyline of the Sin War Trilogy. It is a well-known story on gaming world. Do you felt the need to add/change things to make the Diablo universe more complete?
Knaak
We altered what needed to be altered for the sake of the game's growth. We didn't want to change anything for the sake of just changing it. We felt this story will better serve the fans.
G-WiZ-
I read the 3rd Diablo series book ... Diablo: Moon of the Spider (about the City of Ureh) ... great stuff ... just want to say thanks for writing these. My imagination blooms from this literature. Go, Zayl!
Knaak-
Zayl has been fun and has a big following. Blzzard has some ideas for him already...
Basically, Diablo 3 IS coming. There is a 100% it will be announced within the next year, and maybe released in 2. Just wait. =D
Edit: Also, if you played LoD and stayed with the storyline, when patch 1.11 (Uber tristtram etc) was released, Blizzard did this on purpose to open up the storyline for D3.
i'd expect it to be announced within a year and released in 2-3 (as we're pretty much used of Blizzard). 1 year sounds too early. But we'll get it in time
