There seem to be so many packs that a guaranteed maybe too much. What about a moderate chance of one to drop? That way you still get that "oh awesome!" feeling when one does but it's not so frequent it's expected.

posted a message on A little Heart to Heart about RoS...

I've been playing the PTR, leveling up characters from scratch and honestly I didn't really experience what Droth and the others were saying until I hit about 55. Now I get it.

There's a wall that gets hit about then and another at 60. Double the wall with the gear/loot drop rate and it's "interesting". I hear that there is another wall at 60 - 70 in Act 5. Now, I don't have an issue working on my character but this wall does need to be smoothed out. One way or another, add to the fact with the wall, gear being BoA.

Either they need to change the BoA, or they need to do something with the drop rates to make the game interesting beyond 60 (or 70 as it maybe). I think there's an experience of a pendulum swing right now, we had some pretty decent sized nerfs to a few classes that is being felt, and mob density upswing, and they say they increased the drops. I'm not sure people are seeing the 3rd part.

I still have my CE on order, and it'll take me a lot to cancel it, but......I would prefer to play D3:RoS beyond 2 weeks. I would like to play like I did when D2 was the center of my gaming universe. Maybe...that's just asking too much.

I agree that there is still some period to go before the game could be at it's best. I DO like that they are currently focusing on the foundation of the game right now. The skills and items, if those are not cool and awesome, then the rest probably won't matter as much.

I also agree that trading, social and end game competition (ladders or such) could use a buffing or/and review. Hopefully that will come..."soon".

Defias, I've been reading your posts and i'm not quite sure what you are wanting out of this game. It's not an MMO. It'll be as social or as solo as YOU want it to be.

There are active chat channels, active clans. Maybe not so much right now on PTR because people are waiting for the next build.

The game IS built around rng, and killing monsters and achieving that next loot piece. Loot 2.0 is better than Live, you can get the pieces you want. Otherwise, visit a vendor or craft for your companions. The vendors have quite the decent stashes available from time to time. Which is also rng based.

    I'm baffled.

They've said that they won't expand the space because they want people to make choices. I'm split on this one.

posted a message on Release problems?

When PTR hit open status, the first weekend was stress testing. They put everyone through the hoops of various stresses....anyone remember those long ques? I think it's very important to them not to repeat history, and they are doing what they can to prevent that.

True! With the preload, that should help out quite a bit. They did something similar with MoP, I do not recall any issues then. I just think they didn't anticipate the 12 million in sales......

and on top of all that all cool specs are nerfed patch 2.0.1 bring all the bad stuff, and we have to wait for good stuff until ROS
I've seen more variety of specs in 2.0 than Live. I dont see that as a bad thing. In addition, I doubt 2.0 and RoS launches will be that far apart, so the hardship will be minimal.

posted a message on [Discussion] What makes items interesting?

I dont now that I agree that secondary stats are pointless. I've gotten some really amazing legendaries on PTR. As an example, I recently got a WD dagger that removes the CD of Grasp of Dead. This is great!

I think it depends on rng. Some legendaries are great, some are so/so. And within those, the rolls for them can vary.

That said, I do agree that there is still tweaking that could be done. I think the feedback that is needed (on the official forums) is which ones need tweaking, specifically?

posted a message on Need a reason to finish my end game

I've played quite a bit of PTR, and two things stand out for me.

A: when I go to live, I miss the smart loot that is in RoS. Frequently, I log out in frustration knowing that that yellow could have been for me versus another class.

B: RoS gameplay is actually fun leveling from start. It's highly likely I will start from fresh when RoS hits.

Result: I put limited play time farming XP for Paragon levels in Live. Just a bit to keep things going yet not too much to burn out in frustration. That's how I play at least. :)

I'm playing the PTR off & on, other than that, picked up PoE again after about a year 7 month break (was in beta). Going to give that a try for a few at least until the next PTR build sucks me back in for an extended stay.

I was playing MH fairly hardcore. 2 max level toons, and about 10 or so toons nearly there. Time to take a brief break, it's a fun hack and slash for some wind down time.

Suggestion to the frustrated posters. Don't give up on D3 just yet. PTR might be "open" and suggestive that it's close to release. It's not. They are still balancing quite a bit from server load, skills, difficulty curves, etc.

All worthwhile to test and provide appropriate/constructive feedback on the offical forums. Have fun! I certainly am.

posted a message on Why the desire for a ladder system?

I wonder if they could do something like PoE does. After a ladder or race, the character gets moved to a "normal" server. It's a nice way to support the fans.

Ladder is also a way to measure up. Lot of people like ways to show off or a way to compete. There's a large fan support base for it, and I think it'll be a benefit to the game to have one.
