I'm only intending on playing single player anyway. I find there aren't enough active players at all three difficulties and too many bots to enjoy the game online, so I play single player for the last few years. I've never actually played the game with mods before so that's why I feel like freshening it up, just a tad.
Hello community, I'm planning on running through D2: LoD again as I do every year or so. I'm looking for mods I can use for Diablo 2. Ones that only improve on the base Diablo 2 experience, so no game changers like Median as those types of mods never clicked for me. I'd rather have something that gives me the old Diablo 2 LoD experience, but just improved or polished. Just for the sake of keeping it at least a little fresh. I'd appreciate anything like that. Hi everyone! i was looking through my library for something to play and i remembered that a few years back, blizzard gave out the base D3 game to anyone in wow who agreed to pay for a year (it was with the pandaria beta i believe.) I of course, never played it so i do not have the expansion. Is it worth playing the game without RoS or should i scrap together some cash and pick it up before I get heavily involved with D3?
How is it that people can even ask this? Is any game with an expansion worth playing without it? No. The answer is always no.
back in d2 times we loved to play both, classic and LoD. so his question is legit for me.
So you are saying classic was as good as LOD even though if you played pure classic you didn't have extra classes, no runewords, and if I remember right no charms. No, LOD being installed made the entire game 100% better, irregardless of if you actually went into the LOD specific zones so the question is absolutely not legit. People that played pure classic withotu LOD installed were doing nothing but falling further and further behind those that were playing LOD. You can disagree all you want, but your wrong.
You know people can enjoy different stuff? There a small chance that not everyone is the same as you. A lot of people don't care if they "fall behind" they just play the game the way they prefer. I sometimes played D2 classic as well. I never even liked the idea of runewords. I also didn't think the new classes were that special. I prefered LOD, sure, but sometimes a good old classic run through the game was fun.
You keep trying, get a few pieces of gear with better defence and healing, avoid all bad things like magic balls and stuff on the floor and play patiently, prioritise avoiding stuff over attacking
The game is far from finished, and they failed big time @ release, even they admit it!
Saying the patches are free and we should not complain is idiotic since the multiplayer version of this game sucks beyond words. Sure, if you consider the storyline as being the whole game or at least what matters the most, then yes, you payed for it and now you can't ask for more, but if they made it online only with strong emphasis on competitive multiplayer, which now we call the Adventure Mode, then they can't ask you for money to fix something they released incomplete or broke as hell!
That's actually the drama behind it all. The story is good and the game performs well in that regard, the problem with Adventure Mode and competitive multiplayer is that they barely started working on it! Not long ago having a set on you meant you really don't want to do any killing, and it took them years to figure it out!
Also, give up the discussions about Blizzard losing money by working on the game for "free". I made a post here a while back making a general math exercise and found out that they got a shitload of cash from selling D3 and it's expansion, so much actually that they can live out of it for tens of years even if they didn't had the other games! So stop this useless rant and stop caring so much about a huge company that bathes in gold! Really now, what's this urge to defend them? You can't critique a game you love because people like you guys are oblivious to what's going on with the company making these very important discussions stray too far from what's important! I said before and I'll say it again, mods should immediately edit and erase any reply that takes this incredibly stupid and uneducated approach and give warnings to users who do it! Nobody said anything about Blizzard losing money, that would be pointless because they have to earn money. We all know this. Nobody (unless you're a complete retard) thinks that they are doing this as a favour to all the fans who have been oh so good and loyal.
The game is finished, it feels finished and every patch they add is a nice thing to just look forward to. Each patch is a new free addition to the game. You saying the multiplayer sucks is your opinion and other people will disagree with that, me included. Why should we care if they can live for decades with the money they earnt from sales? Are you scared they are gonna shut the servers down all of a sudden and exit the building and blow it up while laughing manically? Each employee gets their monthly pay for coming in every day to work on the next patch and/or the next expansion. This monthly pay comes from sales. What's wrong with that?

You want discussion? I think we all know this game is far beyond beta, it doesn't feel like a beta and it's not incomplete like a beta. They are applying a free patch at 0 cost. Each individual on the team wake up, get out of their house and go to work and do work (develop Diablo 3) and for this bonus patch that they have spent work hours on is FREE. I dunno why you're crying about "pay blizz 4 fixing their beta game". It's not a beta and you're not paying so you're essentially crying for literally no reason and that's really sad m8.
2.4 will be out sometime in December. They have already announced this season will end in december.
Following the pattern of the last few seasons, season will end on a sunday, patch that tuesday, new season at the end of the week. Doing a little guesstimating now:
Considering they probably want some family time during the holidays, I'd say the last two tuesdays are out. It cant be this tuesday for sure. That leaves two possible days.
Take it to the bank, 2.4 will be out on dec 8 or 15. My money is on 15.

Me too, my WD's pets often just stand around or run in circles and sometimes it's severely affecting the time it takes me for to kill a simple elite. With bosses they tend to all circle the boss and attack. I think it has to do with their collision and their attack range. Sometimes too many pets will be in one place and the other pets can't fit in a position to reach the enemy. Other times though it is still due to stupid AI because they will often just stand next to me or halfway to the monster and suck his own thumb asking himself if he should attack or stand and watch.
I'm not 100% sure but I think that attack speed for pets is additive, whereas for players it has a soft cap, like All Resistances stat and armour stat.

I don't know if it requires the expansion or not for PC, but the keywardens and uber bosses are available on all xbox and playstation versions.
