I don't know about pre-ordering it, but I am excited to purchase it. I think it's a great idea and will add another element to the gameplay experience. I've been dying for a pet class that I can actually control.
Did someone pay you to say that?

I agree that I think Rhyyker is off the mark on his idea that it's going to hold over. Look at WoW. They have replaced the engine multiple times, updated graphics, microtransactions for cosmetics, and added characters/content without relaunching the game. They have released some expansions but that doesn't meant that they couldn't have released those as patches either. In those cases, they wanted to give more significance to the next chapter of the game and recoup development costs.Quote from Demonmonger
The crew was slowly walking away thinking the game was good enough, because they were not getting the budget they needed to add more content. But someone on this team came up with the Necro Pack and that got the juices flowing again, and confirmation from Blizzard to increase the budget if the pack sells well.
Ryhkker actually talks about something very similar, actually almost identical, and he has a pretty solid business knowledge. Where we differ is that he feels this is simply to hold us off until the unannounced project, where I think that they are actually trying to push D3 as far as possible, maybe even to a point of a Pack similar to an expansion with a level increase, 2-3 new classes, new zones, new story/Act etc....
We will see.
If they never release D4 but they continue to update improve and expand the franchise using the current game, then I would be fine with that. -

There was an article published on Forbes where they mentioned a source inside of Blizzard said that they broke up the second expansion into large content patches instead. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/07/06/source-blizzard-broke-a-second-diablo-3-expansion-into-patch-content/#54dc6fb2260aQuote from Demonmonger»
I don't see an expansion for two reasons.
First, the developers have said that they broke up the second xpac into content patches and planned on releasing that over the next couple of years. Second, with introducing the Necromancer as a pay-to-play character, I think that they will add supporting content where it makes sense and do paid additions for much more major features, like characters, new acts, etc.
Nah, they never said anything about breaking up an Xpac into patches.
In fact, all the "free" stuff that we got was originally planned to release with RoS, but they delayed a lot of it because they were not happy with how it functioned. Even the two new zones had data mine strings from prior patches to RoS as well as the cube, which was rumored to come out in Vanilla with paragon.
Now, I do not expect an expansion either, I think they are going the pure DLC route. We can get new stories and zones maybe even acts with this method. It is a solid marketing strategy that has worked very well for other games. It is easier for people to find 10-15 dollars here or there then to find 40. In the end, you can release more DLC packs resulting in more profits each year, but because it was a lower amount at that time, people are more willing to buy.
That was what I was basing my information off of in the previous post. It wasn't an official statement from the company. It could also be that they shifted direction since this was released and you could be right about the content being shifted into smaller DLCs. It could also be they scrapped it and did something else instead. Who knows other than them? -

Diablowatch confirmed!
Hm. I made a comment to the video but for some reason it's not showing up. Anyways, in my opinion it can't be a mobile game (nor an expansion). I have no idea why Rhykker believes that multithreading is a hint for mobile development; it's not, it's a requirement in engine development for 10+ years. Also, the job posting requires C++ and Direct X knowledge, and while C++ is very unlikely to hint at mobile (it works for Android using NDK but it's not really the preferred language) Direct X clearly says it *can't be mobile*.
Also, all the job postings on the Blizzard page (engine developer, graphics concept designer) hint to a new game and not just some remake or expansion. Reviewing the same info that Rhykker has to me this absolutely 100% hints at something along the lines of Diablo 4. Although as we remember in an interview a while back Blizzard sounded like they considered Diablo to be a trilogy, and I personally think with Cain dead and the story in D3 being rather weak a franchise reboot might be advisable, so I'd put my money on some Diablo-related new game. But not D3 mobile, D3X2, or D2HD. Maybe any of those are coming as well, but they're not related to the job posts.

I'm not sure if anyone else had brought up the "mobile Diablo" concept, but I've been saying it could be a thing in these forums since January.
(http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablofans-forums/off-topic/147538-why-blizzard-is-not-focusing-on-diablo-3#c5 or http://www.diablofans.com/forums/diablo-iii-general-forums/diablo-iii-general-discussion/171986-do-you-think-diablo-3-will-get-another-expansion#c14 I'll stop at just two references.)
I guess the idea isn't valid unless I create a YouTube channel and make a speculation video about it.

I don't want a remastered D2. Keeping it the way it is keeps it special and nostalgic. I would much rather see a new Diablo game or expac before a remaster.

MrLlama is pretty bad ass and, unless it has changed, holds the world record for a D2 speed run. -

I rolled DH, but I had a question about that. I thought the meta for solo DH was a strafe FoK build. Did that not get tested or workout during the PTR?

So...upgrading gems will go from taking 3 seconds to 10 seconds. Okay. If it addresses the issue then I'm fine with that 7 more seconds every couple of minutes isn't going to break anything for me.

It's not a bad thing for people to move around from time-to-time. Having someone work on a project for a long time might cause stagnation in their ideas. Fresh blood could help push the game to improve.

I would be for capping paragon benefit, but not the level. For example, if a player gets to paragon 801+, then they have 200 points in each category to spend but won't get anything else past 800. However, they can still earn paragon levels to transfer over to non-season characters at the end of the season.Quote from Gruffertus»
(Another alternative could be simply to have Seasonal paragon cap at 800, while non-season has uncapped paragon.)
This is really the only way they're going to solve this - have seasons for skill-rich, non-seasons for time-rich.

Is it on the PTR? If so, it could be a bug.

They are still dropping. I got two last night and about 10 this whole season. Have about 30 in NS.
0
I have two full NS tabs full of mats. I can't wait until I get that cleaned up, then get another 2 tabs from the Necro. Might have enough space to actually house all the sets at that point.

Ultimately, Blizzard has a company core value of playing fair on those folks will get dealt with in some form when the time is right.
0
However, it could also be that buying the pack will confirm to Blizzard that patch DLCs instead of expansions are the way to go. In my opinion, if the content gets released in 8 $5 packs over time or 1 $40 pack, it makes no difference to me.

I think it could also be beneficial to make a change that would apply to group bounties. This change would be that you no longer turn in bounties for a specific act but have to complete all bounties on each act before you can turn it in. Then you just get 1 loot box with all the act's mats and items instead of 5. This would prevent people from cherry picking bounties in acts and stop people from turning in stuff when it isn't on the bonus act.
Solo players could then keep focusing on act specific bounties. If they don't turn in the bounty when it is on the bonus act, then it really hurts no one but themselves.

So, last season I got addicted to the UE set and played DH until I got my tab. (Then Overwatch happened, so...yeah...)
Anyway, I decided to rebirth my character and do it again for this season. However, I am having a hell of a time getting conquest completed. I know that I will eventually get to GRift 75 solo, so I'm not worried there. For the life of me, I cannot get enough kills on the cursed chest event. I'm averaging around 210 but that is where I stop every time. Doing it on Act V and Act IV chests.
Anyone have tips for getting that done?

I agree 100% with this recommendation. I normally end up playing at weird hours where there aren't that many people online within the clan and I don't like playing public games on bounties because some idiot normally turns in the act without checking if it's the bonus act. This would make my quality of life a better without taking away the benefits of group play.

You're 100% correct. Anyone who is jumping to conclusions about the upcoming content is purely focusing on their gut reactions and not thinking about all the other information that we have yet to receive.
Don't say the patient is dead if you haven't checked for a pulse. (Regardless, the Necro would just rez them now, so....)

As a side note, does anyone else think the Necro looks like Iggy Pop?
