For those suspicious of and interested in the possibly intentional word choice of "Mischievous Surprise" in the post discussing the upcoming Blizzcon Diablo 3 Panels, let us consider this excerpt from the original Diablo II Manual for the Necromancer curse, Confuse: http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/misc/Diablo II Manual.pdf
Confuse
Necromancers can tap into the spirit realm, channeling bitter and MISCHIEVOUS spirits into the minds of nearby enemies. The victims are bombarded with the gibbering of the dead, which, indistinguishable from their own thoughts, urge them to strike at friend and foe
alike. The discordant wailing of these spirits builds to a crescendo, eventually driving the
victim mad.
Effect: Cursed monsters attack randomly
Theory One: Diablo 3 Player vs. Player Announcement."urge them to strike at friend and foe alike" could possibly reference long awaited PvP content, maybe a free-for-all battle royal type arena.
Theory Two: Diablo 3 second expansion announcement including a Necromancer-like class.
Theory Three: Blizzard intended this to be found and discussed pre-Blizzcon, simply for the sake of "Confusing" us... "eventually driving the victim mad" (we are the victims- #TrolledAgain )
Theory Four: No special association or intent behind the phrase "Mischievous Surprise"... but where's the fun in that?!
Let the ridiculous theorycrafting continue! Cheers.
Awesome loveshack, those are some impressive stats too! Yah I tinkered around with explosive blast, then wave of force and still ended up back with the big meteor.
No no, the armor or magic weapon share a slot depending on personal preference. Magic Missile, Arcane Orb, Meteor, Hydra, Frost Nova, and a buff skill.
Mmhm! Yah Evocation is okay for the third slot unless you want a survival passive for T6 farming; but its only 20% of a one short cooldown, unless you double dip into frost nova with the 33% damage debuff rune as well then evocation becomes more appealing. This build includes arcane orb as well as mammoth hydra, arcane orb being the spender although stacking Magic Missile Conflagrate damage ultimately yeilds more damage if you're doing solid group farming with a Cyclone Strike monk, since you can through out 1 arcane orb for the fire wall and continue the dot stacks. Thanks for the input Pietrak, Pewpew!
Introduction:
There has been a lot of talk about Wizard fire builds being somewhat lackluster, due to the lack of a solid 'spender' ability, but I have found an exciting way to play fire wizard, that is not necessarily gear dependent, and outputs great dps while having fun burst (12.5M Meteor crits!) . This build is best for farming Torment 6 with a group, and allows for some choice between a defensive and buff spell.
SKILLS:
Core:
Left Click: Magic Missile/ Conflagrate
Right Click: Arcane Orb/ Scorch
Hydra /Mammoth Hydra
Meteor/ Molten Impact
Passives:
Arcane Dynamo
Conflagration
Options:
Defensive: Frost Nova/ Teleport/ Mirror Images
Buff: Magic Weapon with Force Weapon/Ignite/Deflection
PreferredArmor Spell
Last Passive Slot: Player's Choice- Glass Cannon, Blur, Illusionist, Unstable Anomaly are all good options depending on solo or grouping and personalpreference.
Gear Suggestions:
Attack speed and + Fire skills damage. Keep in mind this build works well for any group play, even at lower gear levels. I've tried the build on both my main Wizard and my recently 60 Hardcore wizard and have had lots of fun on each.
Discussion:
This build revolves around repeatedly casting Magic Missile, stacking up the Conflagration damage over time effect (dot), and reaching 5 stacks of the Arcane Dynamo Buff. Upon reaching 5 stacks Irecommenddropping Mammoth Hydra, then immediately back to Magic Missile dot stacking. At next 5 stacks of AD Buff, I typically will frost nova target and drop the massive Molten Impact Meteor which really does hit for massive chunks of damage. Typically while Hydra is out and Meteor is on cooldown, I continue stacking Magic Missile's dot, and throwing out Arcane Orbs with the Scorch rune every time I hit 5 stacks of the AD buff, and continually rotating Meteor in as it comes off of CD, all while refreshing Hydra as it despawns or the fight moves away from the intial hydra.
I've had great success with this build for both Ubers and T6 Paragon XP farming within a group.
--My meteors tend to crit for anywhere between 8 and 12 million depending on group buffs.
--Mammoth Hydra surprised me with 500-800k dot ticks on groups.
--Successful stacking of Magic Missile's dot effect creates ridiculous damage output. My record is dot ticks for 7.5M on ubers, and 4M on elite packs.
