If you live in Brazil you should already be connecting to the brazilian server automatically. If you don't, sorry but I don't know the line argument for the brazilian server. I'll make sure to post it here if I happen to discover it.
There is a technique you can use to join the different servers out there, like the brazilian, the US servers and the ANZ servers. In order to join the US servers like OP is asking for, you have to do the following: first, make sure your D3 game client is closed. Now, go to the Battle.net Desktop App, select Settings, then Game Settings ("Configurações do jogo" in portuguese), browse the page until you find Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and check the box where it says Additional command line arguments. There should appear a line below it, insert this text in this line that showed up:
OnlineService.Matchmaking.ServerPool=Default
Save these configurations and open the D3 game client again. You should now be connected to the US server, ignoring our brazilian server, allowing you to queue for US games again, but you will be back to the 200-250ms ping, if you don't mind that. If you want to get back to the brazilian server, just uncheck that same box on Battle.net App and you should connect again to the brazilian server. I would recommend saving that text I pointed above, because when you uncheck that box on the app, it will not be saved there when you check it again.
This is the technique I've been using to switch between brazilian and US server as necessary, hope it helps you too.
DraconisOrion, as far as I know, there is no way to turn that setting off. This is made because the game does not split the screen when on multiplayer on the same console, but instead consolidates all players in the same screen. So if one player moves too far away from the other, the second player is forced to teleport to the first player, so that the camera can accompany the two players at the same time. As some people mentioned above, the only solution would be to have another console and another tv, this way you would be playing online coop instead of local coop. In online coop, players get their own screen and can move away from each other freely. Hope that helps!
This is intended. The game, all bounties, rifts, everything is reset when you create a new game. So if you want to get rift fragments, for example, it's recommended you farm bounties inside the same game, if you want to do a rift, you have to finish it inside the same game, etc.
There's a news post on DFans front page with an interview stating that the current plan is for the first Season to last something between 2 to 3 months. I was expecting it to last longer, but who knows.
The gamescom interview says that they haven't released that information yet. I cannot find what you are talking about on the front page. Can you link me a source?

I remember seeing some blue posts saying that this issue would be fixed whenever the server went offline for maintenance. Has a server maintenance happened since your problem started?
I think that may be true- I am unaware of any server restarts in the past month. I requested that, if this is affecting enough users, to restart the servers proactively during scheduled maintenance windows to clear this up. One month (and counting) of missing playtime is unacceptable.

Actually gems aren't season only items, not on the current PTR build at least. The season only items weren't revealed yet, though there were some datamines from DFans on those items.
Your barbs pretty much very close to mine, only some items differ. I would suggest changing Leoric's Signet to a fire Stone of Jordan, your Born's Furious Wrath for a Burning Axe of Sankis and maybe your gloves for a Magefist. Also putting life on fury spent on belt seems to be helping me out.
