posted a message on Are some accounts really flagged for bad loot?
    Quote from lilia27

I have seen this conspiracy tossed around a bunch since I started playing when the game first went live. Honestly I have to believe that its true. I havent played the entire time the game has been out. I usually take a 2-3 week breaks every few months to keep from burning out because all I do is farm and all I do is vendor all my drops. But since they game went live I have probably logged a solid 6 months, maybe 7 Since I only had 2 classes and no job while playing I was able to play at least 40 hours a week but mostly 50-60 hours during that time. During that time I was able to sell 3 items on the AH for any decent amount. And by today's standards they are laughable amounts. One was an amulet for 20 mil, the second a Chantodo for 25 mil and the third was a witching hour for 15 mil. So in 6 months I was only able to earn 60 mil. Sure there were a few other items here and there that sold for 100-500k but not many. Sometimes I would go days or even a full week without even listing an item. So I would estimate the total gold I earned in 6 months to be around 80 mil. Also I was forced to sell most of that on the RMAH instead of buying upgrades as I had to earn back the money I spent on the RMAH so I could actually farm in the first place.

Now that brings me to the issue of accounts being flagged for bad loot. I watch people stream that claim they get 4-5 Legendaries per hour. I have watched a full 3 hour stream before and seen someone get 14 legendaries. In the entire time I have played I have looted 8 legendaries from inferno that were level for level 60s. So how is someone getting almost twice the legendaries in one streaming session that I got in 6 months of playing 40-60 hours a week? You can scream RNG all you want but Im sorry at some point the massive amount of time I played should have resulted in me getting decent drops or legendaries at a similar rate. I mean how are people rolling around in 500mil-1bil gold worth of gear when I had to buy my gear from the RMAH? If you say they have better RNG thats impossible because the definition of RNG is its RANDOM so no one can have better RNG. You cant beat RNG unless you hack the loot system because RNG like I said SHOULD be random. But yet there are large gaps in loot between people like myself and others even though we might have played the same amount of time. I would estimate my gear to be around 50 million. So how come people have gear worth 10x that even though we might have been playing the same amount of time? I see people with 20k elite kills and probably 500+ mil in gold and last time I checked I had around 30k elite kills. When does RNG stop being RNG and no matter how much you play or where you farm you will always just get bad drops?

Its a truly free market economy, thats why they have billions, and most people have nothing. This is the end result of any free market system, which is why the GoP are so advocate about making the real market more and more free.

Also, scams, bots, and hacks are rampant, and blizzard does absolutely nothing about it. Scams are particularly bad in D3. You can scam people all day, every day, for months and as long as you don't use a 3rd part program there is nothing blizzard will or can do.

I don't believe your account is flagged or whatever, as that honestly makes very little sense to me. I guess its possible to code that if they wanted, but given the economy uses RM it would be damn near criminal.

I think you just have a bad memory about how many items you have found, and your opinion of what others get is equally skewed. People like to brag. I see it all the time, they talk about how they get 2 legendaries every time they clear VoA or some shit. Of course in reality that isn't the case, as if the RNG favors them. They are just boasting, and that is all it is.

I got 3 legendary items in the first 5 mins of ACT 3. I finished the act and got nothing. I did two more full clears and got nothing at all. This was with max MF steamrolling MP3! But that is RNG!

They are not applicable at all. Paper doll dps is only useful if you are attacking the same target, or targets for a long period of time. Maybe this happens in high level UBERS, but thats about it.

In D3 you are the tank, the healer, and the DPS. Thus all these stats are important. Here is a stupidly simple example.

    100 AR
    vs
    +10% dps

AR isn't even an offensive stat by nature, but it can increase your dps. Maybe that 100 AR is sufficient to enable you to tank the mob, instead of running around gathering health globes. Maybe it doubles your time on the mob, thus doubling your dps. 10k Dps is nothing compared to that!

    Or another exmaple,

CM wizard doesn't value CD highly, and ignroes the paper dolls dps. Yet the spec does insane dmg...

    Or another example,

I just made a DH build revolved around Crit%. 91% critical hit chance for multishot, which practically guarantees almost anything hit twice dies in Low to Mid MP. Guess what? IAS = Worthless. It might make the DPS on my paper doll go way up, but its worthless! Firing two shots and walking is much more effective and faster than firing three, thus wasting time and hatred (Which you then have to regen using much less efficient generator spells).

IAS also doesn't take into consideration of resources. I know WDs fall into this category greatly! Your resource regen scales inversely to your attack rate, thus forcing you to use less powerful generators more often.

Is a nat's ring really better than a SoJ with 12+% bola shot or elemental arrow and 30% to elites + 10 max discipline? Or with multishot bonus? I don't think so, personally. Especially the stronger your character is. I would leave the ring as last upgrade and calculate just how much it matters then, since it may seem better at low dps to take a nat's ring. Obviously once you reach level 100 it's a nat's ring + soj though

You can use 2 rings, so you could easily use both if you wanted. I guess it would depend on build and what you are doing to answer if its truly worth using SOJ.

I think this is a case of just legit ignorance, nothing more.

No, it's pretty common to compare stats at the most granular level. That's been the status quo in WoW theorycrafting for years. There's not really a better way to do it. Why would anyone want to know what 5 int does for their DPS? It's more complicated math to multiply then divide by 5. It's far easier to understand what "one" of any stat does for your DPS.

It is obvious that you can get more critical damage than critical chance, but it's also obvious that 1% crit chance will ALWAYS be better than 1% crit damage. What differentiate things is at what point, for your spec, does crit damage outpace crit chance? Is it 8% crit damage > 1% crit chance? 12% > 1%?

Remember that paper doll DPS is not always indicative of actual DPS for all specs, nor is it necessarily indicative of farming speed. There are explanations of why this is the case in many of the spec-specific threads, I'm not going to dig it up.

This isn't WoW where you attack the same boss for 6 minutes. Calculating paper DPS is all but meaningless in this game... Thus your analysis is flawed to the core.

www.d3rawr.com for those of you interested in the actual math on it.

I have a 45% CC wiz with 200 CD and 79% IAS and a 7% elemental damage increase on a non-black weapon with a total Int of 2500.

My dps increases per unit from most to least is CC, Elemental Damage, Attack Speed, Crit Dmg, Min/Max dmg, and Int.

In terms of those stats I think I'm far ahead of some characters in terms of IAS and total Int, but that amount of CC and elemental damage is cheap, and the CD is terrible. You'd think that just by looking at my character that I could benefit from some cheap and easy CD but you'd be wrong.

You are broken ass CM wiz... Of course CD isn't the best for you.
How about some ratios, instead of a list? That list means diddly shit.

If its 1% IAS > 1% CD, then thats fine except CD rolls 5-11 times higher than IAS.

Regardless this isn't wow, so what good is paper doll dps?

posted a message on [Guide] Multishot Crit Build
    Introduction:
This is a Multishot oriented build that focuses on %critical chance and %critical damage. The objective is to hit the Critical strike chance gear/buff cap of 75%, thus enabling you to one shot normal mobs with a single volley of Multishot. The skills of this build are secondary to the actual gear necessary to make it work properly. High average damage, CC, and CD are crucial to ensure mobs die to one critical hit, as well as the additional 15-16% Critical hit offered by Quiver + SOJ. Increased attack speed has almost no significance to this build.

    Gear Setup:
This setup will yield 65% chance to Critically hit, and another 15-16% chance to critically hit with Multishot.

    Helm:
Any helm with 6% CC and 100+ Dex.
A cheap rare or Tal-rashas-guise-of-wisdom can be picked up fairly cheap on the AH.

    Amulet:
Rare with 10% CC and Hgh CD.

    Shoulder:
    Anything with High Dex.

    Chest
    Natalyas-embrace

    Gloves
Anything with 10% CC, High Dex, and High CD.

    Bracer:
Anything with 6% CC and high Dex.

    Belt:
    innas-favor

    Pants:
    innas-temperance

    Boots
    natalyas-bloody-footprints

    Weapon
    manticore

    Ring1:
Anything with 6% CC, High Dex, and High CD.

    Ring2:
Stone-of-jordan with 7-8% CC on Multishot.

Cold damage is a plus, but is not necessary.
Any attack labeled as %physical or %elemental will transform the cold damage from the SOJ to that the respective element of the chosen skill. Thus such skills will not slow targets. A skill must only be described as %weapon damage in order for the Cold SOJ to slow targets. Multishot Full Broadside and Hungering Arrow are two skills that benefit from a cold SOJ.

    Quiver:
Dead-mans-legacy with 10% CC and 8% CC on Multishot.

    Skill Setup:

    Caltrops - Bait the Trap:

This skill grants some defense to the player, but more importantly an additional 10% CC when the player is standing in the caltrops. Since Disc skills do not share a cast time with Hatred skills this is easily setup milliseconds before firing Multishot. This in turn brings the DH to the gear/buff cap of 75%, which in combination with the SoJ and Quiver yields a total of 91% CC for Multishot.

    Multishot - Fire at Will:

At 90-91% CC ensures that there is a 99% chance you will crit every mob in front of you with 2 volleys of Multishot.

The Full Broadside rune is an option as well, but this will force you into using your generator much more often. It could allow you to effectively one shot mobs in higher MPs as well. its also listed as %wpn dmg, thus it will slow using a cold SOJ!

Hungering Arrow - Spray of Teeth

At 75% Crit Chance Spray of teeth averages out to about 235% weapon damage single target, and offers a small aoe. This yields more single target damage than Multishot, unless you are using the Full Broadside rune.

    Shadow Power - Gloom

This is your primary defensive ability.

    Preparation - Battle Scars

Ensures you maintain sufficient disc to maintain Shadow Power and Caltrops. Not absolutely necessary for low MPs, but a nice ohh shit button nevertheless.

    Companion - Bat Companion

Multishot is very expensive, and you need this bat to ensure you continue to firing Multishot instead of a less efficient generator.

    Perfectionist:
Added Defense and cheaper disc skills.

    Archery:
More Crit Damage for higher crits

    Steady-aim
    20% more dmg

The things being suggested by blizz sounds ok, but how does it fix the itemization problem with weapons?
If it doesn't have socket + CD, then its shit. LS is also uber.

    Quote from JKlimek

Once you get past a certain threshold on dps you're going to find that other stats become more important than CD. If you're not to the point where you are willing to pay millions for the difference between 5.5 CC and 6 on a ring or 9% IAS vs 8% then I don't think you've got the experience/time invested in this game to really make a complaint that only CD is important.

Those are some nice assumptions you got there. How about adding in some facts though? You do not need to make D3 your job to understand the mechanics. Gear doesn't have anything to do with math.

Also, why would you try to balance the game around the infinitesimally small minority aiming for the absolute best gear in every slot? Thats how blizzard fucked up D3 to start with...catering to so such people.

No, it's called paranoia and humanity does it to itself by the "I can only trust myself, but I can and will scam if I'm sure I won't get caught" logic that has dictated our history so far.

What? So you would buy a car from a used car lot without having someone knowledgeable check it out? That is the definition of a sucker.

The paranoia as you call it is actually called being cautious.

People screw over other people. That fact has not changed, and never will, so why make yourself a victim in the hopes it will? That sir is nothing but a fools errand.

First of all, thx for the guide its very nice information and the gear section ist outstandingly usefull.
The only question left over to me is if nat chest really is best in slot, most dh i see use innas and theres some really nice arguments on using it now that we could hide the uglyness.
Whats your thoughts on this, is 10dicipline really worth the loss of stats?

Also for builds below 500m and while not using inna chest im fairly sure that the innas belt nets more dps for half the cost of a witching hour easily due to the 130extra dex!

My WH, which is kinda shitty, yields the same dps as my innas belt with set bonus.

You are correct the most common setup, and arguably the best is Inna chest + inna pants + nat ring + nat boots.

It would be foolish at best to think they have no power over them though.

Besides, if Activision had any power, Diablo 3 would've been released 2011 or so.

Your evidence is a post from someone that works at blizzard giving a PR statement?!? Thats the most bias source imaginable... Of course they won't openly admit that activision has influence over them.

Imo, and many others I have talked to the game was released too soon. If 1.07 had launched then the game would be in a much better position atm.

Can't be bothered arguing further about this, go spreadsheet it.

    Good because you aren't winning,

Top manticore dps = Top calamity dps
The extra speed offsets the loss of the extra gem slot if you have the best gear imaginable.

Some other people like to use it for the fast attacks = more disc as well.

CD is whats lacking from WF, it only rolls 1/4 affixes. If it could just get that one more affix then the knockback would easily allow it to be comparable.
