crayonsmind posted a message on Mastering All The Set Dungeons - Build Guides, Videos, Rankings And Tips!Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionWelcome to my Set Dungeons Build Guides and Videos!
This thread has some general tips and tricks to completing all the Set Dungeons, as well as individual builds and example videos of how to complete each Set Dungeon SOLO!. The videos and guides are based on the current live Patch 2.4, rather than the various PTR (Public Test Realm) versions where Blizzard were balancing the Set Dungeons. If you get assistance with the Set Dungeons, the majority of these are much easier to complete, but I can't really give you many tips there as I've done all of these solo.
Demon Hunter Build Guide Thread
Witch Doctor Build Guide Thread
Some general comments and tips:
- If you're attempting the Season 5 Conquest for Mastering 8 Set Dungeons and are only plan on playing two classes, by far the two best class choices are Demon Hunter and Crusader. Most of their sets don't require much additional gear so farming up the Sets shouldn't take TOO long and their Set Dungeon difficulty isn't too high. If you have party members to help drop you the various required items, it will speed up the gearing process tremendously. If you play more than two classes, you can pick and choose Set Dungeons from the ranking list below.
- The majority of monsters in Set Dungeons spawn in completely random locations throughout the dungeon! In Set Dungeons where you have to hit a certain amount of monsters with a particular skill, you can constantly restart the Set Dungeon by leaving through the Green Portal that you entered without having to use Town Portal (which takes a long time). This tip will allow you to get the majority of your objectives completed at the start of the dungeon, rather than worrying about it towards the end.
- For players who are unable to select certain skills for their slots, you will need to enable 'Elective Mode' by going to the Game Menu (pressing Escape), clicking the Options tab, clicking the Gameplay tab, then under 'Interface' you need to tick the 'Elective Mode' option. This allows you to pick any and all skills (with some special exceptions) for your Left Click, Right Click, and Slots 1-4.
- The Kanai's Cube recipe (Skill of Nilfur) which converts Set Items into a random item of the same Set will be your best friend, so DON'T scrap any spare duplicate pieces of the Set until you have at least 5 or 6 total items of the Set!
- As mentioned above, it's possible to get party members to assist you in Set Dungeons, which will make the majority of these Set Dungeons easier.
- For Hardcore players, please make sure you attempt these Set Dungeons on 'NORMAL DIFFICULTY'. Also ensure that the rough area around the Set Dungeon is clear of monsters before you attempt it, in case you take fatal damage! When you take fatal damage, a Green Portal spawns in front of you which takes you back to the entrance of the Set Dungeon but DOES NOT HEAL YOU. Therefore a monster can easily take a swipe and kill you. This also means you should avoid using the Moratorium Legendary gem (thanks to user 'Cyberdoc' for bringing this up) at all costs if you play Hardcore, because the gem can 'stagger' and deal damage to you even after you exit the Set Dungeon and kill your character because normal Hardcore death rules apply once you've re-entered the normal world via the Green Portal. An easy fix for Blizzard would be to simply spawn characters at full health when they exit the Set Dungeon, but this is currently not the case.
Below is the overall difficulty of each Set Dungeon - Easiest to Hardest based on my own experiences roughly (your own attempts may vary!). I've started with Easiest so it's clear for anyone wanting to get the Conquest to Master 8 Set Dungeons. Note that the rankings below are just a general idea, it will greatly depend on how comfortable you are with the class and set, as well as supporting gear and RNG in the Set Dungeons.
Difficulty Solo (Easiest to Hardest)
- Invoker - Crusader
- Natalyas - Demon Hunter
- Immortal King - Barbarian
- Shadow - Demon Hunter
- Zunimassa - Witch Doctor
- Innas - Monk
- Arachyr - Witch Doctor
- Sunwuko - Monk
- Earth - Barbarian
- Light - Crusader
- Helltooth - Witch Doctor
- Tal Rasha - Wizard
- Marauder - Demon Hunter
- Akkhans - Crusader
- Vyrs - Wizard
- Rolands - Crusader
- Unhallowed Essence - Demon Hunter
- Ulianas - Monk
- Raekor - Barbarian
- Raiment - Monk
- Delseres - Wizard
- Firebird - Wizard

Bagstone posted a message on Difficulty Overview 2.4.2: HTML ViewPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionAlthough there's this one, I'm going to make a new thread for this - maybe temporary and add it to the other thread in a few days. You might've seen the difficulty overview, but with the advent of T11-T13 (and the prospect of more difficulties being added in the future) I felt that the chart becomes almost too big, almost unreadable. However, I also didn't want to decide which numbers to exclude (or make 100 different versions of the PNG). So what I came up with is an HTML version which allows you to customize - turn off columns/rows you're not interested in. Here it is:
http://d3resource.com/difficulties/
While doing this I experimented with a transposed view, especially because readability on mobile might be better. You can find that one here:
http://d3resource.com/difficulties/?2 (there's also a switch below the table).
So, for the next few days I'm looking especially for feedback about:
1) Which view do you prefer - the one with the top row showing difficulty levels ("view 1") or drop rates/values ("view 2")? You can switch and the cookie will remember your preference, but I'll have to choose either one as default, obviously.
2) Any suggestions for improvement - please note that I won't be able to do all minor adjustments (especially code-based) as I did for the season journey tracker, but I'm rather looking for stuff that really bugs you or decreases QoL.
3) As usual, all data is welcome - if you do any last minute PTR testing it'd be nice if you could put a sticky note next to your keyboard and make an easy check list for GR keys and DB drops. Not looking for T13 data but rather mid-Torments for GR keys (anything between T4 and T10) and a bit higher for DBs (T7 to T12).

HanSolo1884 posted a message on Diablo 4 or another expansion?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionIt has to be Diablo IV that is why they got rid of all the key developers of Diablo III. They are looking for a brand new idea not the same crap. They can't really do much to Diablo III except add new characters which I bet will be a part of a patch for free because it looks like they scrapped what could have been an expansion.
It doesn't make sense to re-staff for an expansion unless the core game is going to be dramatically changed. It has to be Diablo IV and they want something similar to Diablo I/II. PoE and Grim Dawn are probably examples of the future Diablo (with the desire to innovate from what exist of course).
Nothing against Diablo III I think it was/is a great game. It just doesn't seem plausible another expansion is in the works. The repetition, in my opinion, is going to be nearly impossible to overcome a new game means new things and as it is Diablo III is played out for a lot of people.

Bagstone posted a message on Cool video Diablo 2 vs Diablo 3Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI'm sorry, but I have to disagree with almost everything in there.
First of all, what he doesn't say in his "OMG they closed Blizzard North" statement is that the "3 key people", Brevik and both Schaefers, had left Blizzard North in 2003 already (yes, just one year after the development started - though it conceptually even started a bit earlier). So Blizzard North was already sort of dismantled for two years and Diablo 3 going nowhere when they closed it.
Second, the video starts by telling us that Diablo 1+2 sold 6.5 million copies and then quotes Brevik that his idea would've sold well. To be honest, Diablo 3 already has a cumulative number of 30m sold copies, almost 5 times as many as "his" earlier games. He, on the other hand, has produced basically nothing since leaving Blizzard. I worship him for the amazing games he created, but I don't like that he's just going around and giving interviews everywhere, trashtalking Diablo, but if he would've done such a better job, why in those 13 years since he left hasn't he created anything like it? Anything at all that recreates the feeling he's missing from D3? It's not really good style to talk about your former employer like that, and it's especially strange to do it when you have nothing to show to back up the claim that you would've done a better job.
The rest of the video is pretty much the typical story and "darkness" rant. He's comparing random D3 campaign areas to CS and the Throne Room... really? Please compare Westmarch to Lut Gholein and tell me which is darker. Also, he's complaining about the lack of Tyrael's post-Diablo speech, but probably forgot that that was moved into the cut scene. I'm not saying it's better, but it's really comparing apples and oranges. I agree overall that the story of D3 wasn't as good as D2/D1 (actually, I think it was really rather weak), and of course I agree like everyone that the way Cain was killed off was ridiculous. It might've as well been an accident while cooking pasta. Nevertheless, his assessment is very subjective and oftentimes not fair.
Another thing that makes me rage is the class comparison. "A wizard is just a wizard and casts spells. A paladin in Diablo 2 has a variety of different playstyles, such as being a smiter tank or casting holy spells." Holy crap, what a piece of BS? Let me turn this around: "A sorcerer is just a sorcerer and casts spells. A crusader in Diablo 3 has a variety of different playstyles, such as being a thorns tank or casting lightning spells. Or having an army of Bowmen. Or searing the enemies with holy fire from above. Or ride to Valhalla on his horse. Or pulling mobs together in a group." Seriously, are you kidding me?
And of course I expected the "no trading, boo-hoo" rant. This is just so ignorant of the history of trading in Diablo, and all the explanations of Jay Wilson, Josh Mosqueira, and others. We've been there, done that, the AH killed the game, and it's good that it's gone. And trading with it. I'd kill the fun for all my friends if I'd just hand them full sets and ancients when they come online.
I'm gonna have to watch some cat videos now to calm down. What a piece of....

Enslaved2184 posted a message on D3 following path of WoW?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionMaybe being guardian ain't super duper hyper giga sega mega achievement anymore, but since so many players were runting against seasons and said they want to play just until stash tab, maybe this way they will invest 2 more h to get to guardian achievement. Also, those who hunt for top or any leaderboard positions still need to play a lot to achieve that.
And please, i beg all of you, no more "D3 is dying" crap. Stating the obvious or simply lamenting over the diminishing interest in the game ain't gonna help at all. Just be real, so many games went out, ppl can't play all of them at the same time. Half of my friend list is always on WoW, some 10 ppl do not even log out from Overwatch, and still I have no problem to find groups for grifts, bounties, t10 key spam and so on. Until Blizzcon we won't be able to know for sure is D3 shunned or will it be revitalized by some new DLC or something.

StarliteLemming posted a message on Printable Checklist for Kanai's Cube, and other toolsPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionIf you're finding it hard to keep track of which items are in Kanai's Cube, particularly between classes or between season and non-season, have I got the tool for you: a printable checklist for all items in Kanai's Cube (recently updated for patch 2.4.1).
Find it at my Diablo 3 Reference Material page
You'll also find a Town Camper guide for the Sprinter achievement (likely to return next season), which allows even the slowest character to act as Town Camper (and makes mistakes much less likely). No need to print the intro; jump straight to the quest-by-quest table.
There's a Time Record table for Sprinter, including rough quest-by-quest timings.
And there's a Keyboard Layout record table (for when the Powers destroy your custom key bindings). I've included both default key bindings and my own favoured set-up -- definitely reduces finger stress.
If you'd like to help out with suggestions, corrections, or data gathering for bigger projects, please follow the contact links. I'd love to hear from you. I didn't get a lot of traction on the official Diablo forums, but I figure DiabloFans are likely to be more discerning.
Enjoy!
