posted a message on Diablo 3 and all resists mechanic.
I like the AR and individual resist on gears. They are separate so you can stack individual resist if you want (monk's OWE, or physical resist for reflect damage mobs). This is the same arguments as when people complained about sockets being worse than plain stat; the sockets give less stats but can stack with plain stats to give higher total stats.

I also hate enemies having resistance to one element. It was very painful in d3 as a frost sorc fighting frost-immune mobs. (I quited d2 when I hit hell because of that).

Can we conclude from the result now that people would allocate differently and there is no illusion of choice?

I totally forgot about the item requirement in d2. I think it's a pretty bad system for an item hunt game that you need to know first what armor you want to use before making a character so that there's no wasted stat point.

I still see people still debating about the lack of stat allocation in d3. Basically one side argues they need customization, while another says it's just an illusion of choice, as people will just use the cookie cutter strat.

I am not biased to either side as I don't know what will happen if they really allow stat allocation, but I would like to know. So my question is how would YOU allocate stat points if it's allocatable. Assume that the total stat that can be allocate is 800 points. (imaginary number, but makes sense as it has to be not too low or it won't matter, and not too high or gears won't matter.) Remember that these points are PERMANENT; you can't respec.

I assume you either want it in damage stat (str int dex depending on classes) or vit. Also assume that 800 points is at lvl 60 and paragon level does not give more allocable stat.

How much does critical mass proc with disintegrate? I remembered that archon beam does not proc critical mass much. This build is very interesting if you get to use teleport a lot. However, if it does not proc much, I fail to see why this is better than archon.

posted a message on Need some major help with gear (30 mil budget)
Vile ward is pretty cheap (2-3M) for allres+poison resist+armor to free up defensive stats from other slots (like neck), new neck (200dex+cc or cd should be a few mills), bracers with crit (strongarm bracers with poison resist are like 200k). better chest piece with more stats (you should be able to get 100 more dex for 5-6M).

    1) keep 3's south does not have to be dead end. I have found an entrance on the south side.
    2) If you do stonefort, skycrown should have more enemies. Just use stonefort waypoint and walk back.

Do you have problems with survivability? If yes, get LS weapon, if no, you can probably get 1) witching hour or 2) zuni boots+zuni ring.

I don't think the vile ward is a rip off. You may be able to get a few millions more but not much more.

You need lifesteal on weapon and everything will be much smoother.
Also, if you can't get all-resist on some expensive pieces, get at least physical resist to combat reflect damage.

Edit: I assume you try to gear up archon wiz. I have no idea about CM but Loh is probably better.

posted a message on Which is better: Chantodo or Triumvirate
6% poison of zuni applies to the physical part of chantodo (base dmg), and that increment is greater than the benefit from the 20 int. So you get higher dps with zuni.

posted a message on Is off-hand items' damage linked to its item lvl or monster lvl?
To my knowledge, when an item rolls, it will roll whether it's ilvl 61, 62, or 63, then it will roll affixes according to the level of the monster that drops it (ie. lvl 63 for mp1+). For example, a doom armor and an archon armor dropping from the same monster can roll the same affixes, but the doom armor will have less base armor because it's a doom armor (duh).

Now, I have a question about off-hand items (source and mojo). Does the damage linked to its item level or monster level. For example, should I bother picking up non-62 mojos and sources because they can't have as high dmg as a 62-ones? Or is the dmg related to the monster level and all sources can roll the same dmg?

I can totally see they introduce a ladder system with the expansion to solve this problem. They need to reset gears or make old gears irrelevent like wow xpac or people will run out of things to do real quick.

posted a message on I want to Push 200k dps - Looking for Feedback
Do you really need the +disc on quiver and chest (I see you have nightstalker)? If not, you can add 100 dex to each piece for like 10M, or you can get a quiver with +elemental arrow for a huge 12%+ effective dps (I assume you use EA most of the time). The ias on quiver is also important and 14% is kinda low for deadman. 100 extra vit on quiver also does not increase the price much.

You can get more vit or dex on inna pants for not too expensive, which may allow you to drop vit on shoulders and add more dex there.

For your weapon, I think you need a spreadsheet. I suggest looking for non-manticore, no dex xbow with cd and socket with like 1300+ dps. They are not too expensive, the +physical dmg is better for your inna belt than manticore's poison dmg, and the sheer dps should give you higher paper dps, but you should check spreadsheet before investing. (Or just use the item link trick to see the dps change in-game)
