Gems... i can never understand people not upgrading their gems...
When I farm, I pick up EVERY gem and tome of secrets. I purchased about half my gems, and crafted the rest. I sold off all the upgraded gems I don't use (topaz, for example).
If you have 500MM to spend, buy gems as part of your overall strategy.
Release notes list the monsters which will drop the new plans (e.g. Marquis Ruby). Does each monster drop a given/specific plan, or will any given monster drop any given new plan?
I'm curious because I want to know if I'll have to go through the whole list of monsters, or if I just did the same one a hundred times, I might get different plans to drop.
Late to the party here, but looks like gems for your Inna's set could be in order.
re: LS vs LoH... I've seen that at around 80k dps is when LS begins to pay off. A week or two, I was only at around 60-70k and picked up ~800 LoH Shenlongs and it made a HUGE difference in my survivability.
As indicated above, I made a couple of changes last night. Sold the EF and bought a Shenlong's Relentless Assault w/ almost 800 LoH. My net damage is less but my survivability is way better. I tried to do some donkey math on LoH vs. LS, and based on my current damage, I got a lot more out of LoH. Especially, bang for the buck. At my current damage, LS would have cost me 2-3x what I paid, even though supply was much lower.
Fear in EF might annoy some people but I just think they dont know how to use EF wisely. If there are multiple monsters, and the moster you hit flees, start hitting the next one, it´ll come back to you. If there are only one monster OR you just want to kill one specific monster from a group (elite), you can position yourself, so that moster´s allways running against walls or some objects. And when they are feared, they wont even hit you.
Easier said than done. 1) playing with a screen busied by multi players, including Wiz & WD, sometimes you can't even tell you're chasing them, and 2) hitting the shift key didn't stop teleport on thunderclap.
I blew a big wad on a bunch of high end equipment, including a socketed EF, only to find I didn't like it. (EF's fear + Thunderclap teleport hosed me every time a molten ran away). Time to regroup. I'm glad to see my thoughts were the same as others: upgrade gems, get socketed weapons. Those were the most obvious. I didn't focus as much on resist as I should have. That, and probably life steal. Those are my current goals.
I find it interesting that, though you have only fire resist, you are not using OWE. How's that working out for you? I seem to struggle with resistances myself. Between that and a slightly low HP, seems like survivability might be an issue.
I see your (kick a$s) Skorn is only 1 hit per second, but you have like 31% IAS. Does that balance it out for you pretty well? I was using Inna's Reach for a while, which had more DPS on paper, but went to a Shenlong's set and ultimately did much better, because I'd hit so much faster, I didn't get hit myself.
I'm interested in an updated opinion on my current build; it's changed a lot in the last week.
So, I've been trying to adhere to the recommended skill build, but I'm having trouble making the adjustment. Though I'm doing 2x the damage, I'm probably dying 3x as much as I used to, and I figured out why: Even if I hold the shift key while striking to stay in one place, when the elite runs away I follow him due to the teleport. Right through his trail of molten, or what have you.
Sell that bad boy while those are hot. I got a feeling some serious itemization changes are looming very soon ahead. Lots of imbalance and a rushed/botched job of buffing legendaries in 1.04 should witness some tuning and buffing in the near future, which could render those CC Mempo's considerably less valuable.
I may be wrong, but I'd consider it if I were you. I say this mainly because it is not spec'd for your main (STR)
Heeding your advice. Just put it up on AH: BIN 250MM

3x socket chest and 2x socket pants seems to be the way to go/strive toward.

I ran across a link for this calculator. Seems pretty good. It saved me from poor choices even just last night.

Put my EF on AH last night. I'm doing about 12k less damage, but I'm living more. I like the saying: a dead monk does no damage.
Ignore this until my EF is sold

What strategies have you developed to avoid this?
