I've found Skorn with mid level gear to be better for MP0 Paragon leveling, but significantly worse than dual wielding for Key farming/Ubers.

I was wondering about the skorn as well. I am getting ready to upgrade my weapon, and was thinking of going to a manajuma's carving knife (well, actually just a 1 handed weapon with LIfesteal and crit damage) to go with my thing of the deep. But now I am curious if I should switch to a skorn instead. My overall goal is to farm MP 2 with an acid rain build as I have a barb that can do MP6 uber runs.
Anyway, if I go with a manajuma, it's gonna cost like 30 million, but if I go with a skorn I have to get pickup radius on 3 pices of gear. So really just wondering what is more effective.

Also, random question, but does anyone know how the bonus EXP when you kill groups of monsters quickly? Is that bonus EXP just how much you get, or is it per monster killed in the streaK?

Finally got some LOH and tried out rain of toads, and it's pretty sweet. Very nice when I try higher MP levels. Bears has great damage, but the range is pretty meh. Still loving Acid Rain though for MP1-2. Can definately see the limitations as you go up to higher MP levels though, as the damage just doesn't scale well.

posted a message on Returning witch doctor with questions
I am returning to the witch doctor after watching some vids and messing around with my WD. Tried him out and fell in love again.

    Here is my toon:

    http://us.battle.net...2/hero/17417141

I am absolutely in love with the speed at which I can go through inferno 0 on this build. My goal for the moment is to be improve to run MP2 with high MF. I really like acid rain, but I am willing to switch it (just not to zombie bears - tried it and it wasn't fun). The same can be said for Thing of the Deep.

So, any build suggestions would be appreciated.

As for gear, I have some questions.

First, as Acid Rain is poison damage, does that mean items (Stone of Jordan, Tal Rasha's Allegience) that boost poison damage will boost this spells damage, or do I need a weapon with poison damage?

As for items, I am looking to upgrade 1 ring to a Stone of Jordan (Zunni's set is out of my price range), but I was also thinking that the 2 set bonus might make it worth my time to get a Zunni ring instead. There will obviously be a pretty drastic drop off in effective damage (trash mobs die to fast to matter in this equation). The life on hit and all resists would add a lot of utility, but I doubt it would be worth the damage drop off (especially if the SOJ poison damage increases Acid Rain)

For the amulet I am thinkking a Tal Rasha's Ellegience with MF (although might go with LOH instead).

I want to switch the pants to Blackthornes.

I want to add some MF to my bracers.

Other than that, I am ok with my gear, although suggestions for upgrades are more than welcome).

I am relatively poor, but am willing to save up to say 10 million per piece of gear, so any suggestions are welcome.

And finally, for weapons. Right now I have enough mana regen that I never run out. And I have that amazing pick up radius that synergies with my spells.

But I have a decent skorn that is a pretty huge damage upgrade. It would take a bit of tinkering to get the gear with enough pick up radius, and I would loose a ton of my regen, so I am not sure it is worth the gold to switch (and I really don't want to spend all the gold to find out through trial and error).

Anywho, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Newbie/causal player looking for help with infernal machine. I have saved up 6 machines, and was hoping I could get a some help to run MP 6 or higher. I currently run MP4 key runs with ease. It would be nice if you have 3 infernal machines as well so we can do 3 runs.

posted a message on Is Whimsyshire worth it?
How can you call whimseyshire Bilzzard thumbing their nose at us? The cow level was a funny response to uran legends about wirt in D1. Whimsyshire is a funny response to purists being overly critical of D3 cause it isn't what they wanted while CONTINUING the theme from D2. To me it is just about perfect the way it is. I didn't want to see the same thing I saw in D2. I wanted something different, but that was still a funny, inside joke. Well, guess what? Yeah, they found it. That level is freaking hilarious. If your pissed that it isn't the short farming ground from D2, well then you just weren't paying attention. They have said over and over again that they DO NOT WANT short farming runs because they realize that's not fun.Expecting them to build the entire game around not letting that happen only to have a secret level where you CAN do that is just crazy.

posted a message on Lowbie alt to WW - Frenzy Revenge Barb
Let's start with this - WW is better. It's faster. I just don't like it. Tried it and had a hard time keeping up fury and I really didn't like it in the first place. So I went another route. Tried HotA as well, and that didn't work as well with the gear I had.

That said, this build works well for me. I level and farm decently fast and am able to run run MP 3 with only 1 expensive piece of gear.

First, our goal is to deal as much damage as possible - WHILE HAVING ENOUGH DEFENCE TO STAY ALIVE. A lot of the builds I see having trouble don't have enough Vitality or armor.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Stranglylucy-1792/hero/17574324

This is my basic build. At lower gear levels you will want to swap out weapon master with supersition in the passives and Battle Rage with Ignor pain - Iron hide.

For gear - If you have patience, it is much cheaper to buy gear by bidding than buying gear out. MUCH cheaper.

For the gear, you want to mix and match them for total stats. Don't get caught up in weapons needing to have damage and armor needing defence.

Weapon - You should be looking for a 1 hander with a socket and as much vitality as possible. That's right, I said VITALITY for your weapon! Vitality is almost always cheaper than strength on a weapon, and getting it on your weapon will allow you to get strength on other pieces of gear for a much better overall price.

I did a quick search and found 5 weapons (including 1 hammer wich is good if you're going to use weapon master) for 150K or less and bids starting at 15K that had a socket and over 100 Vit . Going up to 2 million gets a weapon less than 80 DPS better!

Shield - This will add a TON of survivablity AND damage to your build for dirt cheap, especially if your patient . Your going to want 9% or more crit chance and as much STR and VIT as possible. Life percent is also a nice bonus, but not a huge need. You can get 9 Crit chance, 100 strength, 200 vitality shileds for less than 100K on buy out. I got the shield I am using for 450K last night on a bid. Also, DO NOT NEGLECT BLOCK PERCENT!

Armor (if at all possible add in specific resists for Physical, Fire, Arcane twice and Poison once if at all possible)

Chest/Legs - Your main focus here is Vit, sockets, and Str. These pieces can both roll very high on VIT, and getting big rolls on the 4 pieces listed above can basically take care of your vitality needs. You can find 200 vit pieces with sockets and stregth for less than 10K per piece, and if you do so you already have 700 vitality with 3 to 5 sockets and whatever additional stats you can get. This is a great spot to pick up some extra stats (specific resists, pick up radius ((definately a need on at least one piece of gear)). As you get more money, add more STR. AR here is way to expensive.

    TIME FOR SOME DAMAGE!

Sholder - AR and STR! You can get 200 STR, 60 AR with some vit starting at 75K. Spend a little more for specific resists if you can. As you gear up you can add more Vit and life percent.

Belts - Same as above, just cheaper. Starts at 20K! As you gear up add Vit, Life percent, and even bonuse frenzy damage.

Boots - 10% movements speed, 60 AR, 70 STR starts at 20K. Add in Vit as you gear up.

Bracers - 60AR, 70 STR, 4 Crit chance gloves with some vitality start at 20k!

Gloves - 60 AR, 70 STR, 6 Crit chance 30% crit damage gloves start at 100K.

Helm - This is a personal choice spot. If you are going to use a EXP gem here to level faster, then you can find 60AR 70 STR gloves for dirt cheap. Add in Crit chance as you gear up.

If you are willing to forgo the socket, you can get some really really strong helms for dirt cheap. Look for Crit chance, vitality, and life percent.

Amulet - This is our utility piece. You want at least 10% life bonus and 450 life on hit (600 would be better). Add in crit damage here as well. Starts at 35K and I saw a very very nice one for only 50K!

Rings - These are your fill in spots with a low budget. Use these to fill in whatever stats are lacking. Attack speed and crit damage are both pretty good here, but don't let other area's lapse for these. Crit chance on rings is way overrated.

Everything listed above will cost less than 500K at buy out prices (meaning you can probably get it all for less than half that if you use bids)

Stats to look out for -

    Vit - 900 minimum.

    AR - 400 or more.

    Life steal - 450 minimum.

    Life 50K

STR and Armor, crit chance and crit damage - as much as you can get without compramising your build.

Bonus stats - Try to add these in if you can -

Pick up radius 6 - This will get the gold and health globes for you. That gold on the ground adds up quick, especially with paragon levels. This stat will more than pay for itself in time saved and money made. If you wanna know just how valuable it is, go look for your cheap sholders, then add pick up radius!

Specific resists - DO NOT NEGLECT THESE! They cost a bit more and take some coordinating, but if you do it right, they free up a lot of space in your gear.

Health globes - This is usually a free stat and will add a ton of survivability when combined with pick up radius (not nearly as much without)

Plus Armor - usually underpriced in lower tier gear, and armor adds up!

Dex - Has diminishing returns after 100, but you want to get it to that 100 point level! Dodge is good.

Intelligence - Usually completely ignored on barb gear. 10 INT equals 1 AR. I can't tell you how often I see a 63 AR piece of gear with 100 STR for much less than a 70 AR gear.

Magic find/Gold find - The usual thought process is to go for Magic find, but at low gear levels, getting extra gold is going to help you much more. Your going to get a LOT more piles of gold and gearing up at this point is a relatively small sum. As your gear improves, you want to switch over to magic find, but until you're at the point of spending 1 million plus on each piece of gear.

This is easily enough for inferno, and should be enough for MP1 if you are good with your choices.

As I listed the gear, I also listed the upgrade stats. This should take you to the point of being able to run MP2 decently. This is what I think of as the second level of progression (the first being able to beat inferno). At this point your main goal is to be able to run MP2 faster. Personally I am trying to run it faster while getting keys, then I plan to try to get some help and try to pick up a Hellfire ring.

Some of the mid level gear to look at -

Occulus ring - HUGE STR with a ton of bonus stats. Not the greatest for damage, but I use it to free up stats so I could get...

Andarial's Visage - This is a huge DPS upgrade. Very pricey and look out for the increased fire damage.

Lacuni's Prowlers - A very slight upgrade in DPS, but that movement speed is huge once you get strong enough to skip the trash mobs. A pretty big investment. I found mine, but you can pick up non stat ones for 1/4 of the price of a frenzy ring. I found miine, and am saving up to replace it with a frenzy bonus ring, but still worth wearing while I wait.

Stone of Jordan - DPS boost against elites is great. Once you can spare the ring stat slots without sacraficing your survivability or speed for killing trash mobs, get one.

And that is where I am at. I can run MP3 in all acts easily. I can run MP4 if I don't mind dieing to cerain elite mods. I haven't run any ubers yet, so I don't know how well that will go, but I am planning on asking for help with that anyway,

Also not sure what upgrades to go for at this point, so if you have any idea's, put em out there!
