I don't think anyone is arguing that it's hard, it's just very tedious, time consuming, and most of all, not fun. In fact, I'd prefer if it were harder and they payoff was better. I really like the idea of having a fixed level grift for each of the ubers culminating in a guaranteed piece.

Aug 9, 2013You guys all need to play hard core NO WAIT, COME BACK hear me outPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I love softcore Diablo, don't get me wrong. If you look at my profile you'll see that's where I spend the vast majority of my time and it's for pretty much the same reasons as everyone else here has listed (I love facerolling mp10 with a group, etc) but Hard Core is really where the longevity of this game is for me. There really is nothing like the rush you get when you're sitting back, relaxing in your chair, farming through a map when all of the sudden an elite group comes up with some interesting affix combinations, and then, oh crap, there's another group of elites and then all the sudden you're up out of your chair, face close to the screen, adrenaline pumping, because, oh shit, you're about to die if you make a false move. I *Strongly* encourage you to just try it for a while and see if it doesn't just get you excited again about playing diablo. It really is a unique aspect of video gaming where these days everything has gotten so easy and it's all just about keeping you playing longer. The concept of bam, everything not in your stash is permanently wiped really makes it interesting.
Don't tell me about your network connectivity issues. Every single person I've talked to has tried to get to play hc throws that excuse at me and you know how many friends I know have lost HC characters to lag? 0. You know what you do when your connection gets bad? Farm an area you won't die in or go play SC until your connection gets better.
You will die. You will. I've seen guys at 100k HP (Real HP, not EHP) 900 RA, 8k armor die on MP2, it just happens. Just like anything else, don't put all your eggs in one basket and be prepared. Don't get mad about it, just move on and make another character. I have two tabs in my stash devoted to nothing but leveling new characters and it makes it real easy. Every 2 levels or so, I just run to the stash and grab the next item in line and my characters are always face rolling through 0-60.
Jun 24, 2013^^ wholeheartedly agree. If you're going to post here, at least take the time to make a write up for those who can't view videos or don't want to. hence the reason they're on a forum and not you tube.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Apr 10, 2013^ agree with Seifa. Any change you make to make p100 better will be the new "norm" and players that aren't there will feel like they are missing out. It's best to have a quality of life change rather than a stats change. Maybe an icon next to your name in chat? I really like the idea of incremental increases like 1%MS or 5 p/u radius, or whatever. As long as it isn't dps related it should be fine.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Mar 15, 2013Jake, you need to increase your ias considerably. Try to hit at least the 2.5 attacks / second mark. A chantodo wand or EF is pretty much mandatory for a CM if you're serious about it. You'll probably lose some paper dps but the IAS increases the damage that your tornadoes do and you'll end up with a much better freeze. Chantodo wands only come with one random so go for CD or a socket if you want dps, or IAS if you really wanna hit a higher a/s number. Also pay attention to the + attacks. 0.25 is a huge upgrade from 0.20. If you switch to a Chantodo wand then a source is your next step. You should be able to find a Chantodo source with decent damage for about 30M. A witching hour belt would be the next upgrade after that. It's hard to tell what to suggest without knowing what you're willing to spendPosted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Feb 21, 2013You know you're too involved with Diablo when your 3 year old knows what the game is called and stands behind your chair and encourages you to "kill the bad guys" and knows to go "ooooo" when a legendary drops.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I'm having a blast playing with my 5 year old tho. I died about halfway through the butcher one time and she had to finish him by herself and she was so scared about the "big bad guy"... so priceless, and she beat him!!
Feb 21, 2013It's hard to tell you care about this game when you post that you haven't played in forever and rant about the poe train that noone here obviously cares about. The 8,000th time I ran to an enemy instead of casting a spell at them because of the terrible targeting system in POE plus the 25 hours I spent as a barbarian where I realized that 2h weapons were just terrible and I had to start over to get all those points back made me jump back to d3. My eyes immediately thanked me and my head stopped exploding about all of the stupid item conversions, not to mention the unexplained constant balancing act between spell level and mana cost just made me angry all the time. If you want a good implementation of a very complex skill system, look at sacred 2. You should be able to find it on pc (and console, gasp!) for like $10.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Feb 20, 2013He's talking specifically about boss drops. The "normal first time drops" he's talking about are the drops when you kill a boss for the very first time with that character. When the game originally came out, only bosses on Normal had guaranteed drops.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I've played through several characters including hardcore and softcore and don't notice worse drops the second time around.
Feb 5, 2013MP1 will be superior to MP5 for item finding too. I can throw math at you if you're curious, but you get far more opportunities for drops at mp1 than you get chances at better loot on mp5. The only things I really do above mp3 or so are key/uber runs. My wiz runs 500 RA, 3-4k armor and about 30k hp and doesn't get one hit by most stuff. Of course my life steal is going to be higher than yours, but I think you can reach higher ehp numbers than that pretty easily.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

Well, this popped up a while ago on Reddit, and I've waited for a long time but no one cared to re-do the chart. And since there are now approximately 23 threads per minute asking those questions, I thought I'd just give it a go. So here's the somewhat updated difficulty overview:
Disclaimer: Many of the values are guesstimates - solid guesstimates based on lots of work, but not exact science. In GR key drop rate and some T11-T13 data, like DP drop rate, could always benefit from more data.

There's no point in being all excited about "official patch notes" - note that the few changes between 2.2.1 PTR and 2.2.1 on live didn't even go into the patch notes (like the removal of Mortick's Brace).
This here is gonna be 99% equivalent to the final patch notes: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19814212/patch-230-ptr-patch-notes-8-6-2015

What the fuck are you going on about now? You're criticizing him for grammar with that slurry of text-like juvenile garble? Really?
Learn to spell "retarded" if you're going to use it.

I personally would be in favor of additional difficulties above t6, Sometimes I don't want to do grfits, whether it be normal rifts or bounties or heck even playing through the campaign, the ability to take advantage of the power creep introduced by ancient gear, set gear prevalence and of course legendary gems means that I can do all those non-grift activities at closer to optimal difficulty. Now for the question of how 100% mechanics would be handled is pretty simple. Bounty bag has for example a 100% chance to drop one legendary as well as a 20% chance to drop a second on t7 for example, and this chance for a second increases as the t-level increases. This same idea applies to all 100% mechanics.
It's a valid point, when is enough, t8? t10? t1000!? (ok t-1000 would likely terminate us all) hard to tell but I still would like the bar raised some.
Mar 1, 2015Jamoose posted a message on Discuss: Blizzcon Elemental Ring! (update: read #29)Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I hate to be a jackass but the idea of a ring that rotates between elements is just bad. The people who came up with this idea during blizzcon i guess were just drunk or something. I don't udnerstand why the devs thought that it's a nice idea, who the F wants to sit around looking at a freaking buff icon to time his spells right for the correct element bonus?
They should change it so that when you damage a mob with 1 element, it gives you a bonus for the next skill if its a different element, and from there on to the next element... So you cast a fire skill, next skill you cast will have x% more damage if its not fire so you cast a lightning skill, now the next skill you cast will have x% more dmg if its not fire or lightning. Like that untill you go through all of the possible elements of your class and then reset.

[-------] [-------] [-------] Rift, closed after RG
[--------------------------] Rift, completed
Hmmm looks like the same chance of legendaries with the added bonus of more shards... The only time full clears made sense were MAYBE when there was double goblins or you have no shards..somehow.
Jan 2, 2015Based on https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qNUl6LzGKlLF73xqFKnixvaZWK7FZ07ZjTLDBV4Um0E/edit#gid=1199554571, here are the expected drops:Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
