posted a message on The problem with the D3 economy
I think pre-release we all would have agreed that the item supply becoming inflated to the point that very good loot is extremely cheap is a bad thing. However, think about all the stuff that has changed about the game since then, specifically Inferno's difficulty... Most people's experience in Inferno has revealed that it really isn't that fun when it's ultra hard. What is the consequence of good gear being really cheap? Inferno becoming too easy? Well, just play at a higher Monster Power.

I think the people who want the challenge of scarcity in the economy have already experienced that by now when the game was newer. What's the point of strictly enforcing it forever? Hardcore is always available as a longer term solution to the problem for people who really take this stuff seriously.

I really dont understand the people who are saying "What's the point of playing Mlvl 10 ? its worthless". Playing on higher Mlvls will grant you a bonus to EXP so you can lvl your paragon lvl and be able to have more Damage and defense from your gear rather than taking MF gear. And MF which increases the drop rate of items and also the stat's rolling while IDing the item, so you will be having more chances to get decent loot and upgrading your gear more further to be able to farm higher Mlvls with more ease and so on. By having 675% MF and an uber end game gear you will be able to farm the Mlvl 10. Its a power quest, a challenge a progression and growth for your character, farming to be able to defeat and farm easily on higher difficulties thats what i see on it. Thank you for reading and please try to think before posting because more i read more i see crappy and whinny posts =).

I dont want to be a dick, but you should also think before posting, higher mlvl will not increase the exp gained on a level 60 character. Also, like Sexton said, mf only affect the chance of finding +5 and +6 attributes items and dont affect the stats values.

Monster power does give you exp at 60, +160% at level 10.

Idhat light beam all there is to the "don't miss any more legendary drops" ? If so wow, that's completely useless.

If you fail to notice the legendary item AND that light beam then you deserve to miss it. Not sure what you expect when you're not paying even a little bit of attention to what happens on the screen.

posted a message on PTR Patch 1.0.5 Unofficial Changes - PvP Tokens and More
PvP gear unlocks is a good idea, not sure why anybody would complain about that... The alternative is that you just get gold and plug it all into the AH, how exciting.

What interests me is that they have low level scaling. Obviously just giving you the level up stats wouldn't be nearly enough, they have to compensate for gear imbalance too. Which means they must have some sort of mechanics in place to normalize character power, be it minimum stat values or static gear selection or what. Whatever the case I think it's smart to not just throw everybody in with all their random crap, otherwise PvP would never be balanced and we all know it.

It doesn't seem like many people are really putting together the impact of the item ilvl change, but it's actually very significant. If I'm interpreting it correctly, it means that when you're farming Act 3(which everybody who can, already does, let's be honest) every single item will roll stats as if it was an ilvl63 item. Even those previously useless level 58 ones. The only drawback to finding a lower ilvl item now is that its base stats are a bit lower, but it could still turn out really good. ilvl61 and ilvl62 items are going to be much stronger overall in this patch. And for rings and amulets, item level might literally not mean anything anymore, they're all ilvl63(?). This is basically the fix for "too much crap loot blizz, wtf" complaint that people have had since the beginning.

    amazing patch to be honest,
they really touched everything that I found annoying/broken.

only thing I dislike is :
"..in return they’ll receive scaling bonuses to experience (for heroes levels 1-59)".

    but cannot complain really.

It does say "as well as" after that so it's a bit ambiguous. Not providing any exp incentive for Monster Power after having just added the Paragon incentive would be extremely short sighted.

Not really. Better loot is more than enough incentive (especially since loot is quickly irrelevant as you level in this game but means everything at 60). With the XP shrines, possible gear bonuses to XP, and the NV buff, I think Blizzard wants to cap how fast people can make it to 100. They really want it to take a while. Besides, better loot = improved combat efficiency which means killing faster thus faster XP anyway. Just not as dramatic as the sub-60 improvements.

Higher monster power presumably means dramatically more HP which would mean slower exp. It would be silly not to at least increase the exp rate enough to compensate for that.

posted a message on More Information on Patch 1.0.5 Systems, Diablo 3: Finding a Voice, Should Skill Swapping Reset NV Buff - Poll Recap
    Quote from Keiser

    Quote from kilo56

When it comes to the NV stacks and skill swapping I see no problem with the way it is. If a champ pack gives you problems it isn't because of your skills it's because of your gear, plain and simple.

Wrong. Try playing a wizard against a fast jailer vortex frozen spider pack. Now try it with all skills available. Having the ability to switch to have a ton of escape abilities completely changes the game.

No longer do you have to make strategic choices in your build and create a balanced set of skills, just keep changing them until it works.

Should I remind you, PLAYERS asked for build permanence. PLAYERS were playing with the skill window open. Do you want to go back to playing with the skill window open?

Keep in mind that there's still the skill swap delay. Nobody wants to have to switch constantly to clear content. D3 has undergone a big philosophy change since launch, moving away from high difficulty "you have to earn your progression" playthrough and towards fun farming with efficiency being the goal. Inferno being super hard was also done based on player demand and it ended up being a bad idea.

I'm undecided on this issue, but I do think it warrants revisiting with the current state of the game(after 1.0.5). Just last night I was doing an Act 3 clear while reworking my build to see what worked, and found it quite annoying that my farming was basically a wash due to the absence of NV.
