posted a message on SoJ Socket Quandry
Optimally you'd go for something like:

    - Elemental bonus
    - Elite bonus
    - CHC or CHD
    - Socket

If you cannot obtain the above, then go for something like:

    - Main stat
    - Elite bonus
    - CHC or CHD
    - Socket

The socketed legendary gem will outweigh whatever stat you get. Even if you give up elemental bonus because in all likelihood, you'd be stacking the stat in multiple slots.

Another great tip is how do you know how far 50 yd is to maximize the zei gem of vengeance?

    Or use this and pracitce:

I generally stay about half a screen distance away from the target. It's more or less guaranteed at least 50 yards.

Are you sure that the posion gem is working with blizzard? i've tried it but i wasn't getting any posion ticks from it.
It works. 100% on hit. Hydras do not proc it, though.

The ticks can be combined with all other DoT effects you see as the one white number displaying at regular intervals.

posted a message on [Video] Boon of the Hoarder - Never Worry About Gold Again

I have to admit. I had some serious spending issues throughout RoS. I came into the expansion with 3.8 billion gold and I went as low as 120 million at one point (gearing 11 characters would do that).

But this gem... Boon of the Hoarder... this thing is a godsend. It drops from Greed in the elusive goblin zone, The Vault. When you socket it into jewelry, your kills have a chance to explode in gold.

You can combine the effect with Goldwrap for major lulz. Yes, it's possible to hit billions of toughness on sheet, making T6 a joke. Absolute joke.

I will not be surprised if this gets tweaked. It's been addressed once in Greater Rifts because it was game breaking. Players were utilizing the gem's effects to spawn gold in GRs, using Goldwrap to skyrocket their toughness and thereby making high level GR damage a joke,

Anyway, gem is tons of fun, makes gold farming interesting, and definitely worth the time to sit down and seek/level.

The hellfire has average damage as an affix, and with no weap equipped, this is going account for the extreme disparity you see.

    This.

Without a weapon, you have no min-max hit damage. Your damage is basically your bare fists and other DPS modifiers. When you throw on min-max damage (jewelry, weapons, off-hands), that damage is amplified by your DPS modifiers. It's also the reason why throwing a Hellfire Ring with min-max damage onto low level characters skyrockets their DPS far more than generic CHC/CHD stats.

posted a message on Oh My God, Star Pact Meteor

I was testing Meteor in the latest 2.1 PTR build.

Bad news first: Everything is underwhelming.

Good news: Well, everything except for Star Pact.

    My god. Star Pact.

    Build A: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#bPNkSO!ZTiR!YZbZbb

Copying and pasting what I posted in the official wizard forum:

TL;DW (too long didn't watch): Shock Pulse - Power Affinity and Magic Weapon - Conduit. This is an interesting combo. It seems Conduit factors in your attacks/spells' proc coefficients. Power Affinity has a high one, and along with Conduit, returns a hefty amount of AP when striking multiple targets. And because Power Affinity has a high proc coefficient, APoC goes nicely with it.

Since we're using Shock Pulse, Arcane Dynamo is there to buff Star Pact. Black Hole/Frost Nova + Mirror Image for crowd control. Images can also cast their own Star Pact, which doesn't deal a lot of damage, but is still damage, nonetheless.

Usually when things are going right, Star Pact should hit for 400-600M+ against elites and 200-300M+ against general trash. Tal proc'd Star Pacts generally hit in the 100-200M range... awesome considering it's free damage!

    Build B: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#bPYmSO!ZbTR!YZccbc

    No video yet.

Buffed with Harrington, Dynamo, and utilizing the new Swami (extended Archon damage buff when Archon wears off), it's common to see Star Pact nukes of 600 million to over 1 billion damage against elites. And this is solo, so no WD BBVs, DH Companion buffs, etc. included.

Examples of 1 billion+ damage Star Pact:

Using Astral Presence in place of Elemental Exposure:

Problem I'm dealing with right now is that the build is sooo squishy outside of Archon form. Gonna need some brainstorming sessions to figure out how to arrange the gear for this outside The Swami and 4-piece Vyr's. It's easier to play than the first build because there's no need to stutter step Hexing Pants. Just a lot of timing and picking opportunities.

posted a message on 2.1 Preview - All changes to Legendary Items

Some additional stuff (pulled from my thread in the official wizard forum).

Arreat's Law no longer rolls crit chance - http://i.imgur.com/f6gwHZE.jpg

Bul-Kathos's Wedding Band no longer rolls life bonus/LOH - http://i.imgur.com/d8xRcXv.jpg

Eye of Etlich no longer rolls AR/LOH - http://i.imgur.com/roKEZ27.jpg

Gungdo Gear no longer rolls AR/life bonus - http://i.imgur.com/gQd7k4D.jpg

Storm Crow no longer rolls LOH - no screenshot yet

Warmonger no longer rolls IAS/percent damage - http://i.imgur.com/1hSLBqH.jpg

Also, a note on Lidless Wall. It may roll 5 primaries, but one of them is spirit regeneration, much like the strange 5-primary situation with spirit regen SOJs. May also be a bug and is meant to roll 4 primaries.

As for SOJs, they no longer seem to roll max resources as a secondary stat either (my arcane SOJ on PTR).

posted a message on Attack speed is actually an important DPS stat for Jades

For solo, maybe you can argue it considering most blue packs will get one-shot even with subpar Jade gear.

But for group games, where most yellow packs can have upward of 2 billion HP, you're going to need to maximize the damage (which is why many run Harrington Waistguard).

And about maximizing total damage output, that's why I suggested doing a single target test. If you're not doing more eDPS over the span of one Soul Harvest against a single target with Jade, how are you going to be doing more damage against a group when area damage is factored in?

In addition, all Azurewrath is good for is spitting out Haunts and Locust Swarms (which you shouldn't need to spam anyway) faster. However, you don't need to spam that much against elites since they only come in packs of 3-5. You're not going to need extra damage against trash. You'll need extra damage against elites to come as close to one-shotting them as often as possible and that's where Sunkeeper comes in.

Bear in mind I talk about most of this while playing in a 4-man group (I act as Jade, teammates are Rimeheart-EP monk, cold-speed barb, shotgun crusader). We've all used Azurewrath before on our Jades during our gearing phases, but Sunkeeper wins out in terms of maximizing the potential to one-shot elite packs.

My Jade doctor for reference. - only change I'm thinking about making is swapping out my Serpent for Thing of the Deep considering my survivability isn't too bad in a group.

posted a message on No WoW, am I able to carry?

You're going to need a high paragon, top end, fine tuned, maximized wizard to do any sort of carrying in high Torment levels. Wizards are just not that cut out for sustained high burst damage throughout a given farming session. You either do less sustained damage over time (much longer kill times) or burst quickly (but with limitations like cooldown or EHP issues). Wizards really shine in low to mid Torment levels right now.

If someone wants to quickly gear up a wizard, it's easy to run a more cookie-cutter high DPS character like Pet/Jade doctor, shotgun crusader or Marauder DH and gamble the Blood Shards on a wizard. Otherwise, it'll take patience and a lot of hard work and time invested.

May be a different story in Patch 2.1, so time will tell.
