posted a message on Patch 1.0.5 monster power and inferno machine info
Things we learned from this article:

    1. Parts, or items, for the infernal machine drop throughout inferno. My guess is bosses (like the thing in D2). I'm going to guess basically 1 boss per act, or maybe random?

    2. IM can drop an awesome ring (probably BoP).

    3. Most importantly: mob damage will scale up with players 8. This was unclear before, but Wilson made it clear by referencing a need for the defensive skills which were nerfed, to be able to handle the harder monsters in "monster power" mode.

I think the way it is going to work is 8 settings with each one increasing the difficulty. My guess is the mob's hp will go up by like 50% but their dmg by say 5%, per rank. So at the highest setting (if it is 8) the monsters will have 400% more hp and 40% more dmg. This would allow tanky melee to still handle the difficulty without making it outright impossible. I hope they keep in mind that ranged will benefit the most from any increase in damage since they can and will just outright avoid all of it.

Right, and I get a legendary almost every run as well. It's called having good MF. I was getting a legendary, often times two, per run for weeks before reading this post. Since reading this post and testing the numbers I've found no evidence that this is right. I'm going to keep logging my server numbers anyway but I think its as simple as you wanting to believe something and no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise. If I strip a character of all MF, do 50 runs, and present a dozen with numbers like 62, 4, 12, 72 where I do not receive any legendaries... will even that be proof enough? I think not. The bottom line is legendary drop rates are insanely high now. I'm getting 1-2 per game since patch: at least 70 found since 1.0.4 (at least), and I never logged my server ID's til recently.

Anecdotal evidence but here it is (and it "refutes" this idea):

Act 3 run with 375% MF after 5 stack.

So far I have done two runs on even numbers below 100 (68 and 64 if I recall, I have them recorded somewhere).

I did a run just now with ID number 193 (opposite of what you suggest, high number over 100 AND odd number): 2 legendaries plus TONS of i63 loot.

I think this, for me anyway, proves that this theory is just more RNG. It's the same thing that humans do all the time - we look for significance where there is none. I have yet to see one scientific (actual significant numbers) to PROVE this theory in this thread. I have just proven it wrong, at least as far as my drops go.

By the way, I think some of you just need better kill speed and MF. I've been running with 375-400% MF constant since the patch (with 5 stack). I get like 2-5 legendaries a day and have made thousands of dollars off grinding. Currently have millions of gold (almost a billion). Get.... more.... MF. And kill faster. Period. I'm serious when I say, if you spec/gear properly and play properly - you can literally pay the bills playing this game. I just finished my Master's degree and while I wait to get credentials (long, tedious process) I can literally earn more playing this game than I can working full-time at any job I could find right now with any consistency.
