I used to be a SC only player but I switched to HC last year and didn't look back. Especially with patch 2.0, Hardcore in D3 is actually very casual friendly (and thus suitable for me ). Like said above, it is actually pretty hard to die if you just don't get greedy with the difficulties and "play it safe". Also powerleveling is very easy if you have friends who can boost you.
The fact that dying matters just gives the game a whole new feeling and after that, SC just feels so pointless.

Mar 10, 2014I'm trying to gear my currently only HC character (WD) so that I can comfortably run Torment I. I'm playing self found so it takes a while and I didn't really have anything to start with as I'd played only one HC character to 60 before the patch and he died pretty soon after reaching Inferno.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
After that, if there's still time, I'll probably level other characters to 60 on HC.
Sep 20, 2013Of course it would be nice if Blizzard would (be able to) ban the botters on a more frequent basis. But still, I don't think that bots in D3 are as big of a problem as in D2 because D3 doesn't really have short optimal farming routes, like Pindle etc. were in D3. Sure the bots can make some gold but my understanding is that they are not very good at obtaining items.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Also, I think that the removal of the AH will actually help to lessen the impact of botters on the economy, since it will be more difficult for them (too) to trade away their gold and items. I know some people seem to think that D3 AH users would use third party sites like crazy, even with real money, but in reality I think that those users are going to be very limited in numbers.
The biggest problem in D2 was the duping and luckily that seems to be a thing of the past for D3.
Sep 19, 2013aajiix posted a message on Tri-fecta is limiting for gear choices and variations of builds. I have a solution.Yes, having an "item budget" could certainly be a good thing for increasing the variety of good items. One option could also be to have affix "categories" so that for example you could only get a maximum of two affixes from the same category. The IAS, CC, CD and main stat affixes could then be in the same "offense"-category. This could increase the usefulness of the other affixes.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It'll be interesting to see if Loot 2.0 includes these kind of deeper level changes to the current itemization.

If trading items will in fact take much longer than it used to, we'll have a "working as intended"-situation, where time spent actually playing (=killing stuff) might be as (or rather: more!) effective as (than) time spent browsing some sort of item-database. Whether this database is integrated into the game menu or not, who cares?
As long as a single desirable item with a low drop rate is in the game, trading will be more efficient. Having to trade outside the game will lead to more time away from killing monsters. You really dont get it, do you ?
I'm not sure if you've understood the point of the OP. Trading should be made more inefficient so that killing monsters and finding their own loot is the more efficient way of obtaining upgrades for new players. And even for end game, finding your own loot should be a reasonable alternative to trading. At the moment, trading via the AH is the most efficient way of obtaining loot for every character at any level. After the AHs close doors, trading may or will be more efficient only for the players who've been grinding the end game for a while. And that is how it should be.

Dont they remember the HELL that was D2 trading and all the SCAM sites galore.
I'm pretty certain that they remember. And many of us who played D2 remember too. But you don't seem to see the EVEN BIGGER HELL that is the current AH economy. So what I'm saying, trading on forums and chat is a problem and quite tedious but having an AH is an even bigger problem.
Also, I'm quite confident that Blizzard will be offering something better than just a trade forum and chat. It'll just have to be less automatized and convenient as the current AH.
Sep 18, 2013Hmm, my view is the opposite. If the Ladder reset isn't a full reset, then it makes having Ladders pointless. How would a Ladder differ from non-Ladder if you could use your non-Ladder gear in Ladder?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Also, are you assuming that the account wide paragon applies to Ladder-characters too? I'd actually be a bit surprised if it would.
Sep 17, 2013aajiix posted a message on Gold Auction House and Real Money Auction House SHUTTING DOWN!I'm kind of happy too as I've been playing self found for the past months anyway and find that play style a lot more rewarding. However, I'd still like there to be some form of "official" trading place. Something more advanced than just a forum or a chat but nothing as automated as the current AH. I wrote about an idea about a "semi-automatic AH" a while back which could work. The idea there is that you could search for posted items as conveniently as now but the actual trade would require attention from both the buyer and the seller. Then again, there's bound to be some unofficial sites for that anyway (actually just found loothunter.net, which seems like something similar).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

When Josh answered Athene on his question if the crusader will be the only new class, he said it's the "star of this hour". You can interpret that in 2 ways.
Since they'll surely unveil more at Blizzcon, I think there's a possibility there might be another class coming.
I think it is highly unlikely that Blizzard would add another class to the expansion as they've already published the official press release too: http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/press/pressreleases.html?id=10697951
I'd bet that all the new info we'll get will be related more to game mechanics etc. So you can think of this Gamescom release as more of a release for the press and then in Blizzcon they'll probably focus more on the details (so the focus audience is existing D3 player).
Aug 22, 2013I too think that the Crusader as a concept is kinda boring and a "safe" choice. A shapeshifter class or something else would have been a lot more interesting. Maybe we'll get those in the other expansion (which will surely come). I think a shapeshifter (or druid) could be a Str/Int hybrid.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Still, I welcome the new class with open arms.
Aug 21, 2013I'll buy it for sure, the only question is where I'll buy it. Probably either digitally or from a nearby retailer so I can be sure that I can play on release.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Error 37, I'll be expecting you my friend...
Aug 21, 2013I wonder what are the "stars" next to the name of the two legendaries, Jawbreaker and Serpent's Sparker? Some kind of a "star rating" for the overall level of that item or something related to enchanting? Maybe the legendaries start at 0 stars (the Puzzle ring doesn't have any) and then you can somehow increase their power and thus the "star rating"?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

You are right Chiron, the game is def. not as user friendly as D3. You actually got to read and look to find out where to finish quests lol
Yeah, lol. After playing D3 I was a bit lost at first in GD. But then I read the quest texts with a bit more thought and started to realize where I had to go. Though some basement entrances etc. _could_ be a bit more noticeable, at least the ones you need to find to advance a quest. Some of those are quite easy to miss. But I don't want arrows and such showing you where to go.
May 31, 2013It won't be the "next big ARPG" for the simple reason that there are no dedicated servers and it is designed to be played offline or at tops with local multiplayer. It also won't be as user friendly as D3 is so that will scare some people off. Not to mention Crate is pretty unknown to most people.Posted in: Other Games
BUT, I can say that after playing the Alpha for almost two weeks now, the game is shaping up to be awesome. At least if you liked Titan Quest. The amount of depth in the items and the skills is great and the game world seems interesting.
There is still a lot of refining to do and stuff to create but even at Alpha stage, the game has an amazing amount of content. The devs said that the Alpha is around 33% of the final game and it can easily take 10+ hours to clear the Alpha if you don't just run to the finish but also explore all the side quest and caves etc.
So I highly recommend checking it out if you are in to Titan Quest or single player ARPG/H&S games. And even if you are not, check it out when it gets released (maybe somewhere near the end of this year).

I've always though that the voice acting in D3 is quite fantastic. The Templar, the Barbarian, Shen, Cain and Tyrael are all absolutely superb. The only bad ones are Emperor Hakan and Diablo. Additionally Leah and Adria are a bit meh. But those are small minorities, especially if you go through all the "extra" dialogue you can with your followers and townsfolk etc.
