Like I said, have live span on gears. Since your gear constantly degrades, you will constantly find upgrades. That way, the OP will be happy. If you think about it, MMORPG's that always introduce better gear in very frequent intervals is essentially doing the same thing, no?

I asked this question the way I did because the way in which it's answered shows a point where someone may not be willing to invest the time anymore. It ties the math to the actual human experience of playing the game. If you reach a point with your character where you haven't seen a reasonable upgrade in 100 hours would you be ok with that? How about 200 hours? At what point does it become more of a chore than fun? At what point do you just stop playing?

Drop tinkering will sadly never solve this problem. That's what ladder seasons are for.

In my opinion, tinkering won't fix any of the loot problems. The system needs a full overhaul from A to Z.

No overhaul will solve the problem, as long as items are permanent. You are asking for the mathematically impossible. Tiered drops can only delay the inevitable for a small time, and is generally hated, as seen by 1.0. If you are suggesting a system where items will randomly break, I don't think that goes well with the player base.

Drop tinkering will sadly never solve this problem. If your gear is good enough, you will need to play 1000000 hours to hope for a 0.1% upgrade. That's what ladder seasons are for.

I asked the simple question: How many actual full hours of grinding rifts do you think is acceptable between reasonable upgrades?

This question with "hours" is a LINEAR progression. Any realistic progression discussion will have to depend on how good your current gear is. If you have near perfect gear, the answer will be years, not hours.

posted a message on That special moment when Ring of Royal Grandeur finally drops..

I got one when I wasn't even farming for it. I joined norm pubs to get some rift keys and multiplayer achievements, and just happened to got one from one of my bounties. The roll on it was so crap that I almost salvaged it. The pride's fall was much more useful at the moment.

This is a fan forum, so talking the bug here will do you little good. Instead, report them here instead:

posted a message on When ladder comes.......

Except that won't solve anything. The exploits are going to be still there regardless of how you set it up. So what if you reduce the exp gain? Everyone gets exp slower, not only exploit farmers, and the relative position of people who exploit and ones who don't are still going to be the same. Worse, Inferno 1.0 is almost universally hated, especially by more casual players, which means you will kill the game. (IMO that was Jay Wilson's biggest mistake, listening to the fans on difficulty.)

posted a message on Suggestion: Should we be able to target farm for set items specifically?

Just to reiterate, we can already craft sets. Maybe those sets can use a buff, but still, there is no need to make every set craftable.

posted a message on Suggestion: Should we be able to target farm for set items specifically?

We already have plenty of sets that can be farmed via specific monsters. Perhaps those sets can be buffed, but we don't need, and don't want, every set to be like that.

posted a message on [Poll] Would you like old trading system back in D3?

I want a restricted form of trading back. If a good legendary that I can't use drop, there should be a decision between: Giving it to my friends, or forgotten soul, instead of just forgotten soul every time. The requirement of them being in the same game as I am is infeasible, since we don't play at the same time zone.

They need some bad luck protection like WoW's justice and valor points. Nothing major, just a little perk here and there to keep you going when RNG is screwing you over but still rewarding you for the time you've invested. Shard gamlbing, with its 1 in 1000 chance to get something decent, is not the answer. Maybe a free enchant every so often. Something to make you feel like you're making even the slightest bit of improvement.

They already have one in place. If you have bad enough luck not to get a legendary for a long time, the drop rate will steadily increase until you get one.

posted a message on RNG QQ Threads

Indeed, I think it's toxic to the forums. I left another forum back not long after D3 vanilla's launch because I could not take the kind of negativity that was going on there. I was a long time member there during D2's 1.10 too. Sure, some of it was justified, including the over-tuned Inferno 1.0 and the (badly implemented) tiered drops. Still, it is both depressing and pointless to have every other thread in the general forum to be like that. Eventually, I had a big tirade there, and asked the mods to ban me.

posted a message on New Drop rates on Purples

How many times have you killed them? If you killed a monster 25+ times and still no drop, then either you are farming the wrong monster or that there is a high probability that there is a bug.
