It will probably play more like turn based, as people are in different time zones, and can really only post when they are on. And this may not always be at the same time as other players.

If More than 2 or say three people are on and you want to have a conversation in the thread you could do a joint post, or trade off posts. I post, then you post, then me again, then you'd post next, then it would be mine turn again.

I do not think it would be so much everyone get a turn. I dont mind those that aren't as experienced posting a little less than those that are more experienced. So long as people are posting.

    It might go like say this for a group of 4 players;

    Player 1
    Palyer 2
    Player 1
    Player 2
    Player 3
    Player 1
    Player 4
    Player 1
    Player 3
    Player 2
    Player 1
    Player 4

While players 1 and 2 posted more, it is important to note that in the above example everyone of the four players posted. Player 1 would probably be the person running it, and player 2 would probably be a person with a bit of experience is this sort of thing, while players 3 and 4 would be people who either have little or no experience in this sort of thing.

It is also important to note that there is no real set order in regard to who posted. Other than the fact that no one double posted. Double posting is generally discouraged and should be avoided if possible. This shouldn't really affect most people other than those running it, as often they may have to post more than once in a row to further advance the story. But as far as regular players go, double posting is frowned upon.

I had a level 90 Druid that had finished Single Player Hell mode. But that was years ago, like patch 1.08 or 1.09.

Primarily used Fire claws, Maul, Shockwave, and minions.

Drawing from the strength of the unformed land, Kifu raised his hands in the air. Chanting a meticulous yet bizzare sounding chant, the ground began to shake. As Kifu's chant became louder the earth shook more violently, forming crevasses in the ground. Slimy green hands reached up from the crevasses. Finally Kifu yelled "UMBAZU TIFI" at the top of his lungs and 3 large and grotesque zombie hounds jumped up out of the ground snarling and ready to fight. Kifu lowered his arms and dropped to his knees, exhausted from the energy consumed to summon these monstrosities from the unformed land.

Kifu reached into the pouch he had resting on his hip. He grabbed a hand full on diseased locusts and pulled them out of the pouch. He threw them towards the onslaught of zombies who were approaching closer and closer. The swarm of plagued locusts quickly consumed the first zombie and wen on to the next. The devoured everything in their path and quickly eliminated the five zombies that were threatening Kifu. The others turned to him and were astonished to see the remains of the zombies on the floor with no signs of fatigue from Kifu. This is when the other members realized the power of Kifu and what he was capable of.

    That would work fine.

P.S can we get this thing started. Im dying to begin. I was the third to last to create my character when I made him a week ago. The only people to make a character after me was donsro and junction3 who is my friend from work who i encouraged to make one which was still 5 days ago. maybe we could at least post a deadline for anybody else who is still contemplating.

While I appriciate your eagerness, you can't just slap a RP together, you have to working things out.

You need to have a solid chunk of the story at least planned out. Characters (NPCs) people will encounter, places they might go, sure we are using Sanctuary, but it's not quite like how we saw it in D1 and D2 (and few people have seen how it's like in D3, not that I have /cry).

I'm trying to think of an example to better explain this, say we were RPing Diablo 2 we start in act 1, Before we started the person running it should of had all of the content, story, characters, places, etc for act 1 done before they started playing. They should also have had Act 2 and a good chunk of Act 3 plotted out. The exact words that characters say, in these 2 acts may not have been all written down, but at least the direction the story is to go is known. And some basic details of act 4, such as a rough idea of what Hell would look like and some key characters, Hadriel, Haephestos, and Diablo of course.

I hope to get some stuff worked out this week.

If you mouse over a persons green square it gives a message. These messages are set to appear when you reach certain levels of reputation.

But I do this showing an actual number would be nice too.

I think 50 is the next level of reputation for most people here. I'm at 72 and it says I will become famous soon.

Wonder where Planetscape Torment fits in all of this.

Same with V for Vendetta. Mostly the book, as in the book it's a little harder to tell if V is a good guy or a bad guy, because he does some seriously messed up stuff in the book.

Kinda the same with Watchmen. And even John Constantine in Hellblazer. Quite a few of the characters found in the forementioned graphic novels (more than their film counterparts) blur the line between good and evil.

It a bit more etnertaining if a protagonist or one of the protagonists is more of an anti hero than a straight hero.

Hellblazer, V for vendetta, watchmen. All had Alan Moore work on them. hmm. Maybe half the people who do this good vs. evil stuff yshould talk to him. He seems to put an interesting twist on it, most of the time.

Diablo does a good job with the whole concept though I find.

    Weight: 195 lbs
    Eyes: Brown
    Hair: Blonde
    Build: Average/Muscular
    Gender: Male
Distinctive Characteristic(s): Somewhat stoic demeanor, optimistic

Personal History: Born in a small outlying village in Westmarch, Buliwyf and his brother Jamis grew up listening to grand tales of heroic exploits, these tales compelled the brothers to do all they could to master weapons skills and combat skills. Where ever he travelled in the world his brother was always close behind. The presence of his brother always pushing him to excel in all that he does. Together they began recruiting like minded people to join their cause, and in so doing so founded the Knights of the Burning Blade. Always a stern believer in the principle of 'who lives by the sword dies by the sword'. Weaponry: Claymore, throwing axe, shield

Armour: Basic plate / chainmail combination

Goals and Ambitions: Establish the Knights of the Burning Blade as a large and serious mercenary organization, to reach a level of infamy like that of heroes of the tales from his childhood.

I think it would be nice if we set up some standard like... naturally, speech would go into " "'s
Thoughts inside ours heads would be in Italics

Dialog is always in speech marks, eg "Your curiosity will be the death of you!" cried Zhar. Inner monolgues, or any internal thoughts are always in italics. "I never should have eaten that burrito" I thought to myself before running to the toilet.

And theres should be no quoting previous messages in RP threads (lol), so if its not obvious who you're replying to then add 'said to bla' stuff. Quotes would make it too... strange

Who quotes stuff in RPs? if you need to refer to an earlier statement, you simply reprint it in your post.

    Post 1
"Dude, where's your car?" said guy 1
"Where's my car dude?" said guy 2
"Dude, where's your car?" said guy 1
"Where's my car dude?" said guy 2
"Dude, where's your car?" said guy 1
"Where's my car dude?" said guy 2

    Post 2
"Where's my car dude?" said guy 2
"Dude is that your car?" said guy 3 pointing to the car over yonder.

Or just follow on from it, sometimes you have to reprint what was said, as you might be wanting to interject something. or if two people over here say are talking about something, and you want to talk to the guy next to you about the same thing, but it was what was said early in the thread that inspired your conversation, then yeah you might want to reprint it.

    Post 1
"The skies shall rain fire, the rivers shall be come as blood, man shall strike man, the rightwous shall fall before the wicked" said the shabbily dressed preacher on a make shift stage with a crowd of enthralled listeners in front of him.

    Post 2
Bob and Bill walk down the street and here the ramblings of the preacher.

"The skies shall rain fire, the rivers shall be come as blood....."

"You listening to this butt munch, Bill" said Bob. "This guy was here last week spouting this crap, world is still here, bet it's still here next week too. Tell ya what, if it's not here next week I'll buy you a beer."

"Yeah right jerk off" said Bill. "The day you buy a beer is the day the world ends, oh wait.."

There should be rules against people making their characters "The most badass extreme super cool dude in the universe who can kick everyones arse 1 handed with a toothpick" too... It makes everything lame. There needs to be developed personalities

There always is, and there is always someone who makes a super bad ass. Then the guy/s running it just disallows the character.

This is a repeat subject. We had one. People keep spamming it, and it wasn't overly policed, and it was constnatly plagued with swear/cuss words. So ultimately the site admin removed it.

Umaro said he pretty much would never bring it back. He did give us several off forum IRC channels to use though.

If you had to put an estimation on how many posts per 24 hours would be required, what would it be?

Is it going to be turn based, as in, it has to go in a specific order through the RPers?
Hard to say really, as it is depended on the number of people and when they can infact post. If there were 6 of us in the RP I would expect the total posts per day in the thread to be somewhere between say 18-24, the equates roughly to 3-4 posts per person per day. Naturally some days it will be more some days it will (unfortunately) be less, but for this example I would hope it never fell below 12, or roughly 2 posts per person per day. This is just an example, a rather heavily theorised example.

I do not like the idea of setting a minimum (but it maybe yet come to that), as it can be disproportionally stacked by heavy posters, which balance things out to the desired level of say as in the example above, 18 posts a day. Or whatever level was set.

I do not recall how many of people here read my earlier RP threads here, but I was constantly double or in some cases triple posting. More than I should have.

Turn based, i.e one person then anonther person then another person is a good way to do it yes, but there is nothing to stop say you and me from trading off post with one another if there was something we wanted to say. It doesn't have to go Player 1>Player 2>Player 3>Player 4>Player 1>Player 2, etc, you can mix it up, Player 1>player 4>Player 1>Player3>Player 4>Player 2>Player 1.

About the only thing that is somewhat discouraged, mostly as it shouldn't come to it, is double or triple posting. Unless, you are the person running the campaign and you need to advance the story.

But me and Jetrall will have to look into that.

How long would this first RP campaign run for? 1 week, 1 month or indefinately?
I would love to have one go indifinately or until the story arcs are finished, but realistically I think we (those running it) might have to say set a goal say 1 month and if it is still active we continue, and set a new goal and see if when we reach that time, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, whatever it may be, and it is still going, we should have a pretty strong idea of how it's going and can progress from there.

Atually, are there any examples of past role playing campaigns ?
I'm not sure how you guys handle it on these forums, and I'm interested to see how they run.
    http://www.diablofans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=29

Is a previous attempt by me. It went quite well for a while then it died. I had so many people voicing interest I had to split it into 3 similtaneous RP threads to make it easier to manage.

Yeah, I know some of you are definitely keen on this, so let's put one together. I've RPed with a lot of you, and would relish the oppurtunity to do it again.

That being said it would have to be a much smaller and tight-nit group than in previous attempts. Larger ones, require a lot more management and get over crowded, and need lots of content to keep everyone together and actively engaged.. Smaller groups require that too of course, but not in the same scale or scope. But a high level of activity is still needed.

Much like Jetrall mentioned earlier, making a post every now and again, won't be enough to sustain it in any reall capacity, and it will fall apart. And I would really like to see one do really well and possibly inspire secondary ones to be started by other people.

That's not really all that hard. Especially lately when my guild is raiding Ulduar 5-6 nights a week, working our way through the content and getting hands on experience with the fights. Progression nights will will rock that shit 5, 6, 7 hours straight.

ANd weekends when I'm not on call, I'd play that maybe 10 hours saturday 10 hours sunday. thats 20. plus 5 hours for Monday to friday that's 5x5=25 + 10 +45. 45 hours a week.

Used to do that with LOD a lot. I'd used to get 30-40 hours of LOD with a lot of you guys. Back when we would hit the HC LOD a lot.

Oh and leaving it connected and WOW running over night while I sleep messes with Xfire. I have done that a few times.

""In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more""

And yeah Stormcat likes the warrior/barbarians, *thinks of her BGII character* but what self respecting medieval fantasy character doesn't carry a knife? even the warrior in Diablo pulled out a knife when he cut the soulstone out. No lies. Watch the movie.

So her having a knife wasn't that big of a shock. The fact she used it on Atrumentis, even just threatening him with it, that was unexpected.

And this is good. I like to see things in comics (and movies (though its quite rare in movies nowadays) and books), makes for more enjoyable reading.

Next episode plz. Or part there of.
