    Quote from chyral

I'm not unfamiliar with the class, i have a paragon 44 wiz myself :)

    The thing that made me re-roll a barbarian was;

    1. Cm spammage. EB+WW spam was really simple and boring. Never tried to add meteor to the equation though. Seems to work very nice for people.

2.Archon's mobility issues. I was melting monsters away with a big lazer yes, fun. But a 10 second teleport wasn't cutting it. After trying barbarian with wotb+sprint it amazed me :)

Now after reading 1.0.7 notes which will increase xp on monster power levels, im thinking that i could use cm meteor on high mp to level.

Plus in 1.0.7 critical hits reduce archon's teleport cooldown. That would i assume make the mobility issues go away.(I have another hope that may be they'll fix oculus teleport bonus for archon aswell )

I would also encourage you to check out the fast-reset hybrid archon build.

You will have little mobility issue because this build does not assume you will keep up archon forever. Instead, it uses different means (LL or ET) to reset archon CD within seconds. This build is also good for high MP because you can pretty much use archon at will, even with short duration for elite or boss.

this looks pretty interesting, but is there some reason you're doing all of this instead of archon?

Let's do a calculation. Sleet storm is 280%. The only dmg add that you probably use here, and not in archon is the slow time 20%, and the 15% on bonechill. That is 280%*(1+0.2+0.15) = 378%.

Archon is 300% without improved archon and 375% (300 * 1.25) with. So the raw damage is quite close, but you have to use 3 slots to achieve it. So improve archon + sparkflint will be more dps just by doing the numbers.

However, note that archon also buffs defense, and that its beam can hit more mobs at the same time, and also at range. That makes archon safer to use, and potentially also higher AOE dps because it can melt everything on screen in the same direction.

Now it does have a CD but there are builds (like the perma archon for low MP, and hybrid for high) that minimize the down-time. The trade off of course is while this sleetstorm build has no CD, it is using AP so either you may have to sacrifice some gear for APOC, which will lower the DPS.

Having said all these, this is an interesting build, and i would try it out tonight.

Ta-da... that was me playing about 3-4 months ago. I should've used Improved Archon instead of Arcane Destruction, though, and swapped out Galvanizing Ward for Blur or Cold-Blooded (not sure why I didn't do that back then).

And that's relatively more recent before I quit the game. Pure Archon farming starts around 53 minutes in. Excuse the utterly crappy quality. I pulled it directly from my Twitch stream without any quality checks or edits.

    Wow .. MP10 .. cool.
Do you also do uber? It should be also uber viable :)

This is becoming my fav build (although i don't use the FN version .. i just use LL to refresh Archon asap).

Personally i don't like CM. Archon fits my notion of what a wiz is about. And i found this thread. I was already running a build similar to what this thread is talking about.

I found that this "archon almost always available" idea is much better than the perma archon idea. And several people are running it at high MP.

Personally i can run a variation of this build at MP6 without any problem. I should be able to take it to MP7 when i upgrade a bit more.

I think this is a good alternative to CM .. and hope more wiz will adopt.

This is *so* funny. I wish my wife would play D3. My sons .. however .. are gamers and they are not going to pick gear because of look.

As for build, you can also try a arcane orb build, with hydra. I use to run that before i am gear enough for a hybrid archon build.

I use a canon AO build (http://us.battle.net...76/hero/1971094). Instead of glass cannon and arcane hydra, i use frost hydra to slow, and cold blooded for the 20% dps increase.

I like it a lot. It is quit flexible. You can kite/hit and run. Or if the mob is low enough in health, i can just diamon skin, stand and throw AO nonstop. The key is tap the source .. and you can nuke almost non-stop, with any APOC.

I am farming Act 3 with this build without much problem.

I use a 2H. Slow 2H is better for a AO build. I use a variant that include blizz/cold blooded to maximize AO crit potential.

It works quite well in Act 2 & 3. You don't need APOC for a AO build.
Have you tried Arcane Torrent (Disruption) or Arcane Torrent (Cascade) in place of Arcane Orb? Compared to tap the source Arcane Torrent is now a similar radius, less arcane power, more damage, and slightly more accurate than Arcane Orb. It doesn't work as well with stutter step kiting as Arcane Orb but the extra damage potential should mean you spend less time kiting and more time nuking anyway.

No I have not. I have not tried AT after 1.04. Good tip. I certainly will check it out.
