Do people typically use shields here? Do people replay sections just to level up before moving on?
Yes and Yes.
I think a shield is a must have for a monk. Deadly Reach/Keen eye & MOE Hard target are huge Armor % buffs making that shield that much more useful.
It sound like you might need to slow down. You can never be too high a level for any fight. look for EX per kill gear and grind out a level or two before you move on. I know I personally didn't kill the Butcher until I was level 20. I would finish off the night by clearing a zone then stopping just short of the check point. Then when I log in the next day I had to clear it again to continue.
May 24, 2013Crafting is going to be the best bang for you buck on a budget. I would suggest putting most your effort into that.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Overall you have good chrit chance, but your lacking in crit dam. you might do well with a witching hour. (fairly reasonable prices if you don't take much EPH (which your not lacking))
One of the reasons your fealing poor could be that you don't have any MF. To get your budget bigger up you might want to drop to a lower MP and adding MF to your gear to get better drop chance.
May 16, 2013its hard to say for sure.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
High DPS farming low MP wouldn't need any LS.
High DPS just to show off on Diable progess wouldn't need LS.
High attack speed with LOH on rings and amulet could provide enough healing for mid level MP runs.

Yellow's don't sell very well on the AH anymore. Its really all about the set/legendary items and even they need to be well rolled to get much for them.
Crafting adds nice flexibilty to the game. Do you don't million/billions of gold to get a good item.

I'm not a monk expert, but iirc correctly from when I looked into this recently, pretty much any skill which heals another player counts. Here's a list I just found on the battle.net forums, though I can't guarantee accuracy:
Breath of Heaven / All Runes.
Mantra of Healing / All Runes.
Inner Sanctuary / Safe Haven Rune.
Cyclone Strike / Soothing Breeze Rune.
If thats true i just might have to play around with that on a tankish build for multi player. Cyclone strike every 15 sec to keep the party buffed sounds reasonable.
Mar 13, 2013Your gear looks alot like my dual wield gear. So to answer your question.. no... its not just you.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
You have a lot of attack speed, but not a lot of crit dam. Most of the realy high paper dps numbers I've seen have a lot of crit/critdam but not as much speed.

The problem with crafting Vit items is that you might get no primary stat or one that is for a different class than yours.
You'll end up rolling a lot more Vit gear to get a good item vs Dex. (when looking at DPS)

Any idea why you couldn't pick it back up again? You should have been able to drop it and pick it back up. Some kind of hack?
Jan 29, 2013Windsurfer21 posted a message on How Will the Removal of Snapshotting Affect Monk BuildsI was wondering if the increased damage from WoL would be better then the 4 sec Bliding Flash without the snapshot.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Jan 14, 2013I would love to see more Runes that have general buffs on them. Everyone uses Blazing Wrath/Blinding flash to get a bigger buff for SW. If more abilitys had a X% damage buff then people might be more willing to swap out those spells. DR has a damage buff and in a few select builds people are using it. You'd see more of that if people had more options.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Jan 11, 2013I don't play as much as i use to mostly beacase I got sick of having to: grind hours for a good drop, then roll the AH with it until it sell, then try to buy an upgrade. The 3 step process is so heavily baised on user volumn that it takes a lot of the fun out of the game for me. I've got 250+ hours out of it so i don't call it giving up. I call it simply being finished. Every game has a beguning and end. D2 & D3 offer a lot more fun then most games i've played.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Jan 4, 2013Low MP speed/farm runs 423 allres 90kdps (527 all res if i'm sleepy and and just want to face tank without thinking too much)Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
High MP key farm 720 allres 86k dps.
I don't know how much armor i have. i usualy don't have any +armor i just have the base value on gear.

Legendary is the new Rare. Instead of farming elite packs for Rares you want to focus on killing white mobs as quickly as possible giving the best xp/legendary’s drop rate possible.
The TR build does the best job of killing white mobs quickly, but it is weaker vs elite packs when you compare it to standard Fot/cyclone build. Your gear state priority will change a little depending on your build.
Ubers bosses are fun, but don’t offer much by the way of gear. They only thing they offer is the mats for the Hellfire ring which is nice for xp, but it’s really hard to roll a good ring with high damage. (most people I know just get the mats for 1 ring and just live with the rolls when farming)
That may be a little too short, but it should get you started.
Welcome back to the game.
