So they have a third of the page talking about SSS and then don't freaking tell us what it does lol?

    sad blizzard... very sad.

They said they are going to increase the damage output significantly. What more do you need?
They probably haven't nailed it down exactly and if they now said they'd triple the damage but, after further testing, actually went with a factor of 2.5 people would start crying all over the place...

    Exactly

    "Blizzard - Y U NERF SSS!?!?!"

"Uhh.. we multiplied the damage by 2.5.. that's a buff not a nerf"

"YOU SAID TRIPLE AND THEN YOU NERFED IT!!!!"

Honestly, I can't even imagine how anyone at Blizzard finds the strength to get up and go to work in the morning, given the whining, tantrum-throwing, entitled crybaby little shits that they have to put up with. The comments on these dev blogs and the threads about 1.0.4 on the official forums are some of the most sickening things I've ever read, it makes me ashamed to be a gamer when these sorts of people share the hobby with me.

posted a message on Do stat rolls work the same in every Act?
    Quote from thundersteele

Yeah, as sifu said, in the end it is something we don't know. Item properties are determined when they are dropped, so if there is some hidden mechanic that makes act 3 and act 4 rares better on average, it will be very hard to find out. Although, people have figured out quite a few things already ;)

It would take an epic data gathering exercise, for sure. But then, look at the work that has been done around MF%, I've been amazed by the glorious work people have done gathering and analyzing data there.

Personally, I think it is extremely unlikely that there would be different affix generation for the same ilvl item depending on where it dropped. It seems to conflict with the whole purpose of ilvls and having different ilvl drop rates in different acts. However, there are a number of very vocal people who swear blind that they're getting better affixes more frequently in later acts and that they have the millions in AH sales to prove it. Selective memory? Human brain's great ability to see patterns where none exist? Who knows.

We’re removing Enrage Timers and the “heal back to full” behavior from Champion and Rare monster packs.

That's an incredibly huge nerf to the difficulty of the game. I haven't played as heavily as a lot of people, have only just completed Act 1 Inferno, don't have great gear. And I can tell you that this one single change will flip the switch from the game being randomly impossible to being always possible.

Apparently you've never played co-op because all that particular change does is bring single player more in line with co-op. In co-op if you die then your buddies will still be fighting the pack so they won't reset just because you died, plus you get to port back to your buddies in a few seconds instead of having to run all the way back if you're solo. I used to get 30 second rez timers when I was first progressing through inferno with my friends but it didn't matter because someone was always alive and kiting until the rest of us could rez and repairs were very cheap.

That's an excellent point. I do play a mix of co-op and solo and I do currently find co-op vastly easier - this is one of the reasons why.

But it didn't occur to me to think that this change was going to greatly help solo players not get stuck, whilst having no real effect on the much easier co-op gameplay. I feel a lot better about the idea now that you've pointed that out, thanks!

"Buff every skill up to the level of the current strongest" is a noble ideal, but sometimes you just have to wave the nerf-bat. It was always going to lead to galactic quantities of butthurt on the official forums, though. It's scary to see how many people quite simply should not play games because they clearly don't have the emotional maturity to handle them.

Elites getting 25% less health. Damage going up about 100% on abilities.

It's essentially a 50% nerf to all difficulties. Not to mention the new legendaries.

Given that it's DPS buff of 100% on some abilities to bring them in line with other more effective specs, I think you might be overstating your case slightly.

Exactly. If they leave the skills that "everyone uses" untouched, and they buff the skills that "nobody" uses because they simply don't cut the mustard in Inferno, then that's hardly "damage going up about 100%".

This looks pretty solid to me. I played around with a lot of different builds while levelling my Barbarian main. Used Cleave as my main attack most of the way, with the corpse explosion rune, it was great fun. Used Rend a lot. But then I found that I needed to minimax to be able to cope in Inferno, and have been using - you guessed it - Frenzy, and no fury spender skills. I'd love to be making tough choices about builds again.

posted a message on 1.0.4 Developer Blog - Legendaries, Starter Edition Now Available, Patch 1.0.4 Information, Blue Posts
These changes definitely deliver in a big way. It's crucial imho to put "flavourful" effects like summoned demons and burning ground onto legendaries - without that sort of mod, they'll always just fall into the same DPS/EHP calculator blender as all the rares, nobody will ever think of them as special.

Really, really pleased with what I'm seeing here, even if I never expect to see a good legendary or set item drop (two low-level ones in 150+ hours of play so far, sigh)

lol a blizzard game always being impossible with their casuals? I doubt that highly, lol.

The word "randomly" and the word "always" do not actually mean the same thing.

What nerfs are you talking about? As far as I can see, there are no real nerfs discussed.
