All Signatures: IAS makes then fire off faster. These increases DPS, and does not change Damge/AP (since they cost 0 AP).
Additionally, this increases mobility because you will be able to react faster due to the cast animation ending sooner. (i.e. not getting stuck in a cast animation as a mortar is coming at you)

Channeled spells: Archon Beam, Disintegrate, ROF: IAS increases damage, does not change AP/Damage, but increases the speed you use AP. Damage ticks happen faster, and you spend AP faster. Ticks will still show every .5 seconds, as a total of damage done over the last .5 second. These ticks will increase with IAS, as you will be ticking more times in each .5 second interval, and increases how fast you spend AP proportionally.

Direct Spells using AP: IAS makes them fire faster. These increase DPS and does not change AP/Damage, but increase the speed you use AP.Additionally, this increases mobility because you will be able to react faster due to the cast animation ending sooner.

Damage over X time spells: (blizzard, energy twister) IAS does not effect these. The cast animations will finish faster (increasing mobility); this does not change the length of the actual spell (i.e. 6 seconds for ET). NOTE: Ticks of energy twister do happen more often as proven by Loroes. However, this only effects the number of LOH and CM procs you get, it does not increase damage at all. Blizzard has not been tested in this manner.

So... I'm trying to figure out an easy way to spell everything out...

Damage over time: X% weapon damage over Y seconds (Energy Twister: 360% damage over 6 seconds, Blizzard: 210% damage over 6 seconds) - never affected by attack speed. Always will do a set amount of damage over a set amount of time.

Damage per second: X% weapon damage per second (Venom Hydra: 18% damage per second, Disintegrate: 155% damage per tick of damage) - always affected by attack speed. Has no cap and will do higher damage the more you pump up your DPS.

No. First, LOH and CM procs do benefit from IAS on Energy Twister and Blizzard. Also, Venom Hydra and Disintegrate work differently. Hydras damage is actually increased off your Character Sheet DPS. Disintegrate basically allows you to cast faster, for more AP. It is different because Disintegrates damage/AP does not change with IAS, only DPS while cahnneled. However Hydra DPS and Damage/AP go up with IAS.

As was stated, there is no set rule to clump spells into. They are all a bit different, and you will need to know how the spells you use work to determine is IAS benefits you. I will follow this up with a real dumbed down list to try and help you as the replies here seem to be confusing you with too much info.

Wouldnt make more sense, and be more fun to just add a 4th portal?

Maybe has a chance at dropping all parts? or even better drops an item that can be turned into any part?
This would also help with the problem of getting too many of 1 kind of part.

Most here agree there really isnt a problem, but there are probably better or simpler ways to solve it.

The real decision is just class, but build within a Class.
If you have no preferance in playstyle, than any of the above metioned builds will do.

But if you prefer a certain playstyle, make sure you read up on the builds which work before picking a class.
(Example: If you like the hydra/blizz kite playestyle of a Wizard, you will be deisappointed when you find out it is not viable right now.)

posted a message on Need some noobie wizard advice :)
Just wanted to chime in about Blizz/hydra Wizards. I've been playing the build since launch and can handle up to MP5. I can handle more, but it's too slow. (MP5 is slow too BTW, because Hydra/Blizz is not optimal.)

I have a set for CM and Archon, but like some others, I dont like those playstyles. The bottom line is Wizards need a serious buff to most ablilities to make anything outside os CM viable.

Enough of that, I am just here to offer some insight to Blizz/Hydra, in case you did want to try it, even if not as your main build.

    The Good:
You do not need LOH, LS, APOC or high crit for it to work. The obvious benefit of this is gear is much cheaper, and you have a much broader selection to pick from. I do recommend 1000 or so Life Regen though (this can be after follower and ward). This also frees you up to just pick the gear with the biggest DPS upgrade, and not have to manage as many stats.

I find it to be a much more versatile spec, there really is nothing you can not handle once you get the hand of teleport w/ illusionist. That one spell can defeat really any combo of elites. There are some combos that definately give CM or Archon a hard time, unless you are at the break point, which take a lot of gear.

It is fun. At least I think so, especially when everything is lines up and you are firing your free-cast signature and watching things melt. To me, it feels like a glass cannon, the reason I picked the class. It takes skill to get the hand of, and you can be creative with walls, doors, environment, and other mobs. It is a lot more fun to me than just standing in one spot spamming novas. This of course is my opinion.

    The Bad:
The DPS is bad. Elites take longer to kill, and you have to move backwards constantly meaning you waste a lot more time running than other builds. I run at 70k DPS, so anything up to MP3/4 is fine, and things just melt in MP1-2. When you run into an especially tough elite, your hydra and blizzard can kill elites in MP1-2 without ever casting a sig-spell rather quickly. But......it's still slower than CM.

ALthough your survivablity scales extremely well with MP level, (in other words you won't die much more as you progress) but the speed of your kills are greatly increased with MP level. At MP5, it is ridiculous even at 80k DPS, which is the main problem I think Blizzard needs to fix. An 80k Barb kills things ridiculously fast. Hell, the world first Plvl 100 only had 130k. The world first Wiz needed 221.....

    Roundup:
Blizz/Hydra is fun, and can handle any combination of elite, and takes much less expensive gear, and much less thought on how you gear, and just feels like a Wizard. But you will sacrifice a lot of speed, and efficiency to play it.

Edit: Just wanted to say, I am currently running a CM build in MP1-3 for efficiency. Just to point out that although I enjoy the Hydra build, I am forced away from it until Blizzard fixes it.

This dude wrote a post a month ago suggesting these fixes.

He now comes on and makes a redditt claiming his idea is "insider" info he obtained from Blizzard.

This is fake. Stop being stupid people.

Can you please not advertise Gold Sellers on this site?
I could go into a long dialogue why, but I think most people who play Diablo know why already.
I would really rather not see companies who ruin the game and blatently abuse the TOS advertised on the site. Thanks!

I love all the people in here saying weapons with 300 dps arent that bad.......
I wish I knew what auction house you were selling ur items, cuz it aint the same one I use.

I also think most of you are missing the point with the people linking the:

    900 LOH
    90+% crit damage
    300 dps weapons.

You are all like "omg's!! hope u didntz blow it upz! i's worth 50k!!!!!"

The whole point is if those things rolled even halfway decent damage they'd be worth 10-50 million.
The fact you had a miraculous roll on LOH and cit damage......and it rolled crap damage makes it 100 times worse IMHO.

I'd rather have a straight suckass weapons, then get a near perfect LOH roll, and 300 dps.........
