Playing a casting class for the first time and I'm not sure about the effects of weapon damage on casting DPS. I guess my question basically is, is the below picture accurate for a caster? In my mind I'm thinking it doesn't matter what the weapon damage is because I'm not actually using the weapon, but hey, I'm probably wrong. Thanks!
If I don't need the health, but won't need it in the near future, I use it for the damage.
If I don't need the health, but might need it in the near future (playing it safe with potentially-dangerous packs), I'll save it for when I need it. If I gauge that the pack isn't dangerous enough to warrant saving it, I'll just use it whenever for the damage.

For me, however, I've been able to use it for emergencies only with the addition of Rend to my toolbar. But so yeah, overall, for health purposes only.
I've got a MF set that I can use to run around in Act I no problem. However, for Act II I can only use gale of it and have to switch around my skills for more def, thus making the runs in general longer, with less overall MF for mobs (still switch for elite kills).
So NY decision now is, do more runs per hour in act I with more MF or less runs per hour in act Ii with less MF?
I myself have had difficulty in act ii. I found the best thing for me to do was to go back and farm act i . GF gear and lower difficulties just didn't tickle my fancy. I actually think I get more money doing longer act ii runs anyway.
I know what you mean, OP. I like the game very much, I think it's good.
BUT... like everyone else, I find the horrible drop rate and the indecently difficult bosses of inferno act 2 (and the fact that they seem to spawn 3 packs at a time) just greatly displeasing.
And the AH is a great way of raising funds, if you can make some IGG from it, but you can't because it's flooded
