I was very unhappy with my luck with drops to the point I seriously considered switching to gold find gear to farm gold. I would love to get a dedicated area to farming gold and gems to break the monotony of farming the same acts/areas over and over in hope of drop that may never come.

I would suggest to try spec like this for Nightmare or Hell--it should give you high mobility and effortless AOE killing. I read somewhere that gold drops are pretty much the same on Nightmare and Hell, therefore, it might be worthwhile to test it.

I would love to hear about your results when you get more tries in.

My idea about gold farming area would be as follows:
    - Inferno only, lvl61+ monsters
    - bot unfriendly, hard to navigate areas, challenging monsters
    - only gold, gems and crafting pages.
    - no patterns or recipes drops
    - in order to make it attractive, there would be a chance to drop higher level gem than flawless square. Only flawless and radian star with corresponding drop chance of 6 affix ilvl63 item and legendary item for the later.
    - I assume gold find would be directly impacting gem drop chance in those areas

    1. Don't bot, you [redacted].
    2. Gems of higher quality than flawless star don't drop, they can only be crafted.
    3. I don't think there is any evidence that gold find affects gem drop rates.

It looks like you're at 11% crit chance without sharpshooter. That's pretty low.

Yea i ditched SS after the NT nerf for gloom because I literally blow up into peices if i dont have gloom on against damage reflect. I've been sticking with spike trap, rain, hungering arrow, ball lightning/ice arrow since the nerf. I tried using cluster bombs yesterday and wasn't too happy with it. I love playing as a glass cannon. The idea of being hit just once in order to die makes the game a lot more fun. I'll look into the strafe build as i've never actually used that skill. Graphically NT was my favorite too which is while i never minded only using it haha

I believe Blizz said they were working on a fix for grenades. Trying to find a better way to get grenades to be able to bounce off walls and so on, but they couldnt implement it because they said what they came up with didnt feel right. At least that what i read in their blog posts.

What I read was that they can't fix grenades, they're a flawed concept. The idea behind 1.0.4 was to fix skills, not replace them. Grenades will be completely revamped as a new skill at some point.

    posted a message on From 85k to 100k+ dps {DH}
You've gotta get a KILLER Calamity to be worth more than a relatively cheap rare. At the time of writing this, the cheapest Calamity with a socket is 45 million, with 28% chance to cast Marked for Death. It has 890 dps, 78% natural crit damage, and 10% increased attack speed. Now, the highest dps rare 1h xbow in that price range is 959 dps with no attack speed (a plus in my book), and has 95% natural crit damage. It costs 30 million, 15 million less than the Calamity. That 12% bonus from Mark isn't going to come anywhere close to making up for the dps and crit damage difference, not to mention the fact that it only casts 28% of the time.

I tried this exact build out the other day, but ultimately returned to Hungering Arrow - Spray of Teeth. Once you get your crit chance high enough it does more AoE than Volatile Explosives and you can stun lock them. Quite a shame, I've always wanted to like that Bola Shot rune.

posted a message on Coming back to D3: MF, gearing advice?
It's going to take a long time to level up to the point where your base MF is worth much. I'm keeping all my MF at least until I hit the 300 cap (level 43 for me), and then I'll start swapping out for regular gear. I have 4pc Nat's Wrath so my defense is a bit different than yours, and MF pieces with survival stats on them are probably still going to be much more expensive.

posted a message on 1.0.4 Jagged Spikes nerf - end of DH tank?
    Quote from Apollo

Well, Jagged Spikes does a TON more damage now* so maybe the Life Leech from Shadow Power will offset the healing lost from LoH (it'd also in theory make Life Steal a lot more valuable).

*I'm just assuming it is, the wording implies it's getting a buff however I've played Blizzard games long enough to know that what sounds like a buff could end up being only a small buff.

I know the data mined information showed a damage increase, but there was speculation that this was simply a rewording of the skill's tooltip. Furthermore, the only change listed in the patch notes to Jagged Spikes is: can no longer trigger procs.

Don't get your hopes up for a buff on this skill!

I was looking at that too, pretty sad really. One fell swoop and the most nonstandard DH build is crushed. Cheers for build diversity!

posted a message on Natalya's, old (wrath) VS new (Solace).
    Quote from m4st0d0n

Yeah two pieces of perfectly rolled Wrath plus 3x Solace with a good rolled 1h ftw. That's 24% chc with archery, and with other slots with crit, totaling above 69.5% chc (if I didn't miss anything). So if the two Natalya setbonuses don't block each other and this actually works, it should be overpowered as hell. I'd say chest, helm or boots from the old set, as that's the lowest dps loss. The new ring should be able to roll 4.5 crit not like the old one which caps at 3.5.

This would work if you're just going for the extra crit chance, but you're not going to get any discipline bonus unless you have four pieces of one of the sets.

I think the best set up is going to be a perfectly rolled 4 piece Wrath coupled with a two piece from Solace (hand xbow and ring). If it's possible to use both sets at once like this, you could get the full 4 piece bonus from Wrath and an extra +7 crit chance and 130 dex from the Solace 2 piece bonus.

You'd only get the 7% crit chance, not 130 dex from Solace - 130 dex is 3 set.
And it also restricts us to using a 1h crossbow (which would have to roll both crit dmg and a socket for it's 2 random props to give us some serious firing power, compared to a 2h crossbow).
Ah, you're right. I had just woken up :) Either way, it could be pretty sick if you did get the perfect items.

With my normal build, I can coast through Act 3 with minimum difficulty. With this build, I think I'm going to need to stick to Act 1. I bought a new cloak, crossbow with 950+ LoH, and quiver to try it. It's fun and i wish it was more viable.
